  1. Well, that was what the prototype was a few years ago...that would make sense also..depends on how much they want to invest. It could probably be on the same wheelbase as the 4dr. Something like this but with the new generation interior and front..

  3. I disagree with @dfelt that the falling price of oil is a sign of recession. If anything, low price oil will help to prevent one. However, it will cause job losses in the energy sector, particularly in Texas and other mid-west oil-producing states. If it stays that way for too long, those job loses can start to ripple through the economy. No, the issue to watch is interest rates, housing sales, and some of the big names on the stock market.

  4. nope. nothing has happened. Albert and I just celebrated 11 years together. There are lots of signs that a recession is coming. If nothing else because the economy moves in cycles anyway... but the structural signs are there. If we do hit a recession, it will mostly not be Trump's fault as he has no control over interest rates. That said, it won't be anywhere near as bad as the last one. You could also disagree with him without making accusations.

  5. I'm thinking this will be pricey, no cheap versions, top out a fair bit higher than the Wrangler Rubicon Unlimitd

  6. I prefer to live life on my terms and eat at decent family owned restaurants. Personally, I refuse to throw electrics out the window because as an enthusiast it s one of the few parts of the market doing anything interesting. Pony cars have been around since the sixties...BRZ/FRS isn't that awesome...GTI is a glorified Rabbit....WRX is cool but only so exciting...I like Cadillac styling but have no desire to actually put a Cadillac in my driveway....very little else actually excites me that much of what is built. As far as the Colorado, interesting appearance package/off road package here. At least i have the self awareness to know that my rants about Ford are irrational and a bit hateful. Not sure you have the same level of self awareness.

  7. I don't see how it's remotely a 'bother'. Having to sit in a Panera for a half hour while your Tesla jostles with others at the plug mid-day is also a 'bother'. I say 'Panera' because they put 10 tesla superchargers right near me at one, and they seem to be operational finally (I don't know if all are online). Today coming home about 1PM, and there were about 6 Ts sitting there, including one parked across empty spots right near, apparently waiting for a slot. Me, I'm not quite smitten by a $9 bowl of mac & cheese, and staring at others eating soup and sandwiches incredibly slowly as they force the passage of time is not my idea of getting something accomplished. I prefer to have food thrown at my open mouth from a slow roll thru the drive-up window.

  8. Meh, a turbo 4 in a big car like that isn't very compelling. And 340hp according to Wikipedia, not 449hp. The twin turbo V8 that is coming is going to be the hot ticket for CT6...

  9. We got about 5 inches last night/this morning as well. I left an hour earlier than normal and luckily the roads were taken care of and because it was so early there weren't many people on the roads and it only took me about 10 minutes longer than normal just driving a little slower. ..Got to work 45 minutes early.. ??‍♂️

  11. So... my wife's now-gone '09 Malibu 2.4L was rated at 22/33 MPG and it's onboard rolling MPG window showed her to be always getting about 24. Her current '16 Malibu 2.0T is rated the same at 22/33. Now, when she got it, the onboard average MPG readout was like 46 (did it coast to NJ from the Rocky Mts??). She's had it for what- 2 months? and the average MPG readout has settled at 33. Going to have to compute it manually for a few tanks, because nothing has changed commute-wise and that doesn't sound remotely possible.

  12. Yeah, I just don't want to deal w/ old vehicle shit anymore. When I get to 100k I'll go for another CPO GC or other...

  14. Ah yes, Hyundai/KIA back in the 1990s. Only when the 10yr/100,000mi warranty debuted in 2001 did Hyundai/KIA shed their reputation for poor quality. Cheapness is another story.

  15. GM makes the Envision in China because for every Buick that sells here, four are sold in China. The Encore is already made in South Korea (the former Daewoo plants are now owned by GM); GM has them shipped to China or here in NA. Whether it is parts or final assembly, the era where GM or Ford or FCA make virtually everything in the USA is long gone. Supply chains are global and automakers are exploiting that. If you want your next Chevy Trax to have MSRP to rival a Cadillac XT4, then the president should seek to have insanely high tariffs on cars AND car parts. Consumers automatically lose when that happens. IOW, tariffs are still bad. New car prices are quite high as they are.

  16. Most people who have EVs never have to sit there in a Panera with $9 Mac-n-Cheese because most people are not doing 400-mile journeys every day. The car gets charged up at home. What's going on is that the Tesla owners are overusing the free SuperCharging. They're being cheap wads and potentially harming their battery's life in the process. They still haven't switched their mentality away from gas-powered cars. The only people who should be at a Supercharger should be those who don't have enough juice to get home. Based on my driving habits, I'd have to charge up once a week at most... I can do that at home. Charging every night is not necessary. Plugging a Bolt or Model S in at night once a week when I'm done driving for the day takes far less of my time than filling up with gas at the local Costco.

  17. I doubt if they will do a regular cab, would sell maybe 5% of what a 4dr will....they have their priorities right..they know what will sell to Jeep customers. This is more of a novelty pickup--think of it as a Wrangler Unlimited with more cargo space. For a general purpose mid size pickup, that would be from Ram.

  21. Cars are basically maintenance-free now until 100K, other than oil changes. And those... you can "take a break from driving and have a bite to eat while they do it". Easy-peasy!

  24. GM's pricing is rather assertive lately. They'll get fewer buyers, but at higher prices... and they seem to be okay with that. They're clearly not chasing volume to keep the lights on anymore. The days of the $99 down $99 a month Cobalt are over. Personally, they're driving me away. The only new cars from them I consider competitive to other brands in terms of pricing are the CT6, ATS, Encore, and perhaps Impala. Everything else has an attractive base price, but then they really nail you on options that are standard issue or much cheaper at the competition.

  25. From Popular Mechanics 1959 Owner's Report ~ Weight distribution in the article was stated to be 54/46. Pretty good WRT the handling compliments. My car has lost 364 lbs to date, and probably 75% of that is off the front end.

  31. She pretty gentle on it? If so and she is staying out of the boost, she has effectively gone from a 2.4 liter to a 2.0 liter. She also went from a 4-speed auto to a 6-speed auto. It will probably end up under 33 after a while, but should still do better than the '09. You could also just reset the average reading.

  34. I think it looks just a tiny bit ungainly. From the side. Now RAM has no need to provide a midsize competitor. And the Ranger Raptor would get buried halfway back to Australia by this Gladiator. Good on Ford for eating this humble pie. Every off-road trim of the competition has been put on notice, this thing will bury ALL of them.

  37. I'm sure it does. I believe it is a federal mandate thing. All new vehicles sold after a certain time must have a back up camera. With that said, I would not be surprised to see other options for trailering borrowed from the Ram.

  41. Very cool, I like the Rubicon in both hard top and convertible edition. Excited that the wheels are 33 inch off road. Tru-Lock electric front and rear axle lockers, trac-lok limited-slip diff and it seems it has the Power Wagon electronic sway-bat disconnect! Shipping with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Rubicon edition has optional Forward facing off-road camera system for ease of obstruction detection when on trail. Pictures look like they have a rear camera too under the Jeep Logo. Interesting notice, the 3.0 liter V6 EcoDiesel with ESS and 8sp auto trans will be available in 2020, guess as a 2021 model. Cool to see ESS on a Diesel. So you only get the 3.6 V6 Pentastar at launch on the 2020 models

  44. I tend to agree with what he says, we have first gen solid state batteries, but to make them in the density and quantity needed is a bit out. I expect most if not all EVs that come out between now and 2024 will be Lithium Ion and then by 2024 we will see some of the top line models have the solid state and by 2030, we will see solid state push into pretty much all autolines for EV use. The benefits of Solid state batteries will I think help OEMs to push to move to them sooner rather than later.
