Welcome to Ye'Old C&G. I'm the landlord around these parts. Make yourself at home. We're a friendly lot, though we can get feisty with each other at times, it's all in good fun. That's what happens when a forum has a lot of the same people visiting for a decade or more.3 points

True they have failed but not the power trains as has been proven with commercial electric trucks used for years on the East Coast. It has always been our tech of Power Storage, AKA Batteries that failed us. Now we are finally getting the Batteries to a point where EVs make sense.3 points

I'll be starting a total frameoff restoration/rebuild/modification of my wife's 2002 GMC Yukon in the next couple weeks. I will chronicle the job here. Will post before pics soon. The plan is, take it down to the frame, sandblast and powercoat the frame and most things attached to it. Add an air locker to the rear end, lift it about 2inches. Modify it to use a stick transfer case instead of the push button setup it has, lockouts on the front wheels. Repaint it from white to purple, rebuild trans to handle larger tires, rebuild engine to about 350hp. Interior mostly stock but recover the seats and new carpet2 points

We got those same tractors... This one is a prototype... But this one is not... I had a long rant and speech going on...*SIGH* Too political... Listen, John Deere, an American company has that domain covered. You could sleep in peace....2 points

Well, the U.S. use to be an innovative country. To a certain degree, it still is. Silicone Valley, for better or worse, is in the thick of things regarding computer controlled transportation and electric powered vehicles. Detroit is still a driving force in the automotive landscape. Its just that Americans, it seems, still in 2019, do not want to embrace Detroit automobiles. Not to put you on the spot, but you do hate on Ford. What? You think foreign multi-nationals dont phoque around with our lives? Only the American ones? Volkswagen just recently got caught with a Diesel scandal... Look at what is happening with Renault-Nissan? If Goshn embezzled, shame on him. If Japan and Nissan wants to stick it to France and Renault, shame on Japan and Nissan. Look at Huwaei and China and Canada and the US... And...there it is!!! You cant, as an American, DENY other countries to grow...and get to do what you as an American got to enjoy since the end of WW2...and not have other peoples enjoy that too. And the thing is, some of you Americans are bitchin' about free trade not working...or that a Global economy is not working... Its working out great! It made lots and lots and lots of money for American CEOs and American corporations. It also made some countries grow...to the detriment of American people? Sure... But the thing is...if that would not have happened, then the rest of the world would be America's bitch? Its OK for Americans to have the world as their bitch, just as how the Brits had their colonials... But in reality, it aint OK... America would be fighting wars in her homeland worse than Sept. 11 if that were the case. Just ask the Brits... You guys, fought for your independence from them after all... But the growth of other countries is not, should not, be a detriment to your own growth. This aint a political forum, and this is a thread about a Chinese autonomous tractor...lets leave it at that.2 points

Wait. Tesla is charging $8000 for a measly 25 more mile range?? That's insane. - - - - - Not sure why the new 'system' is even more convoluted, rather than simpler. And why not 'P100LM'?2 points

And the Porsche that just set a Nurembergring lap record was a hybrid. Get used to hybrids and electrics as part of the automotive landscape.2 points

Yeah...but...THAT is the key to his defense... This reminds me of Howard Hughes. OK...I may not know Hughes' full story, but I got the gist of it through the movie and this is the scene Im talking about... And the real senate hearings are very close to how it happened in the movie. Ive listened to the real hearings on Youtube as well.. You know...if it werent illegal for him to have a CEO reserve and for him to use it as he saw fit...well... Like he said... Howard Hughes was a tad smarter than him though...Howard told it how it was and maybe how possibly still is... EVERYBODY DOES IT...AND UNLESS THERE IS A LAW AGAINST IT, IT AINT ILLEGAL...IF IT IT'S MORALLY NOT CORRECT DO IT, THEN THE POWERS THAT BE TO CHANGE THE LAWS TO BE ILLEGAL...AND THEN I AND EVERYBODY ELSE WILL CHANGE HOW THEY DO BUSINESS... Now...this is not the same as Goshn's situation. But like he said, let the lawyers figure it out what is legal and illegal to what he has done...2 points

Agree. it is just too funny that a little cold weather freaks schools out and they close. Agree Big time that computers are supposed to HELP us, Not replace us and in that regards I would love a modern auto WITHOUT the Nanny devices and require people who want to learn to drive to have to go to an indepth school where they teach more than they do today. I think it is very important as I took my kids up onto the pass in an empty parking lot to have them experience driving and sliding and how to turn into the slide and regain control. I really think the cost of drivers education is piss poor cheap here compared to other countries and we need more attentive drivers not slackers relying on self driving. I do have to question just how far is going with computers good for humanity? I love the Frank Herbert Dune Universe and do wonder if it would not be better to have our basic education system youth skills earlier so they can be focused on being optimized. The Movie Hidden Figures that deals with Nasa being the first to the moon shows that humans are the ultimate computer and yet we still need computers to handle a larger amount of calculations and yet down to the final details, the human mind is still best. Human Thinking Computers, What is wrong with that!2 points

And here I thought Chevy actually knew how to style a vehicle and forgot one. Apparently they've known how to not style a vehicle for a lot longer, thanks!2 points

After shuttering my business after a decade winning some and losing too much.... I am working in sales in CDJR dealership. I can say unequivocally that the new 1500 is a well done truck, and the Big Horn/Longhorn model is my favorite (nicely priced and optioned without having to pay Laramie money). Most of my customers that have purchased the Big Horns have been my most enthusiastic about the truck, as well. The only real complaint I have with the truck is the new tailgate. In trying to improve on the design they made it worse (in the way that I think German engineering fails at times... by over complication).1 point

I could see them doing a performance variant of one of their CUVs, but not on the current generation products. Perhaps in a few years if the next gen RX arrives on a new platform.1 point

I thought you are an engineer. Speed of sound is 767mph. No Harley rides at that speed So they can be heard way ahead of their arrival even though pipes are pointed backwards. The fact that they are louder when they get closer is attenuation of the waves in medium. The change in pitch is Doppler effect. Come on man, you can do better than that!1 point

I'd definitely love to ride one but I genuinely enjoy the shifting and the sound of going through the gears. There are so many good options out there now in the naked sport bike category that I would have a tough time choosing. I always want to default to the 3 cylinder Triumph Street Triple because I loved the triple in my Daytona but there are a lot of other options that weren't around when I was riding last. It would likely be between a Triumph, Ducati, or BMW though.1 point

Nope, loud pipes cost lives, I see more people freak out due to the abusive noise of Harley's and be it pedestrians or drivers, the bikes still get hit. Tuned pipes is different, but the idiot Harley crowd seems to think ear breaking noise is best, must be deaf most of them anyway.1 point
