^ That makes no sense. What do you mean 'set'? EVs are sold right now at minimal LOSS, how are they going to drop the prices and be okee-dokie all of a sudden? Especially if that's in only like 10 years?3 points

Prediction : polestar EV above will be $90K. And no one will buy it. BMW will be at minimum of a $25K premium over the nearest IC-sized sedan. And no one will buy it.3 points

However...the guvment DOES tell homosexuals that they cant marry. Forget about a religious marriage...that is a different discussion... Im talking about a legal government document that does not recognize same sex unions... The thing is...Blu.. and you could downvote because that is what you will do... POLLUTION You could try to make a case for batteries being bad for the environment... BUT... Ive said this before...keep an internal combustion engine car running without proper ventilation and see how long you will live. Now...with proper ventilation...where does that shyte go? In the atmosphere, right? Well....BECAUSE of DENIAL with the internal combustion engine being bad for the air that we breath...and every other living thing on this planet...governments are FORCING us to change our habits because WE will NOT do it WILLFULLY. If you give me the money argument... Ill just tell you there is NO amount of money in ANY universe, real or imagined, that puts a value on the damned planet we ALL live in!!! If you cant see that...Im sorry.2 points

Yup. they are just nowhere near the fuel savings with the premiums manufacturers are asking. SAVE $1500 a year in fuel!! *spends $20,000 more on vehicle*2 points

They should do one with a Gas pump, the way it will go over the next 30 years.2 points

Agree with you and everyone else, have not heard of good things about the Exploder. The Seattle auto show does not have auto's that are trucked around the country, they actually come from dealership lots locally and from my understanding all the auto show are done this way and have been for the last 10 years or so. Only thing trucked is the concepts and truly new releases that have not shipped out to the dealerships yet.2 points

Yea, Right Bucko, just like the Gov trying to force men to marry woman when they are already wired for men to men. The same could be said for the Woman side of the fence. End result is the GOV is NOT forcing you to buy an EV, but they are giving incentives up to a point to help those that WANT TO take care of the Planet for Themselves, Their Children, Grand Children, etc. There is that old saying that you do not get something for nothing. Been proven, Humans are consuming and hurting the planet. As such we have to change our habits. Some places (CHINA) will force the issue fast, Some places (EUROPE) will phase it in and then you have ignorant incompetent leadership that allows us to fall behind the rest of the world. Not looking good for the US in regards to Technology leadership, Alternative Energy, Stewardship of the resources / planet we live on. We need competent youthful leadership looking down the road to Rebuild America and not Static Boomer Incompetence. Go Ahead, Down Vote me. Fact is, some of US care about you and everyone else and know we need to change habits with recycling, cleaner air, alternative ways to move about. Change is Hard Change is Good Change is the Future1 point

@ ANYBODY that wants to discuss this. But it is directed towards @ocnblu if he feels like discussing this. Yeah...it was either a downvote or a laughy thingy... MAYBE YOU THINK THIS POST WILL BE LONG... BUT LETS DISCUSS... IT IS AN AUTOMOTIVE FORUM AFTER ALL... UNLESS OF COURSE YOU WANNA TREAT THIS FORUM LIKE THE SUNDAY FUNNIES... But I wanna know why you feel like laughing when in fact...air pollution is a real phoquing problem on our planet... We are 7 billion plus humans and by 2050...its projected we will be 10 billion. I mean...in 1985 there was 4.5 billion or so souls around. In 1960 3 billion and in 1970 3.7 billion. We have doubled our population from the height of the muscle car era. Serious talk now... Dont laugh. Because you are so against EVs and the government forcing us to buy them...but you NEVER seem to wanna discuss it. This is real serious shyte... Los Angeles air was unbreathable several times a year then and it got worse and then CAFE came about and I KNOW you are against that too...but Los Angeles air is better today? Maybe? Because I really dont how you feels about Los Angeles air pollution then and now. Are you in denial it was bad for LA then but its better now? What is it that bothers you about this whole thing? You laugh at us for it or you downvote, but you never seem to discuss it. Cars then were huge and got huge-ier. Engines in 1970 in the North America were just about at the peak of horsepower and torque and got the shyttiest of gas mileage coupled with even shyttier exhaust pollution. Do you deny that also? Where Im going with this. Beijing today is where Los Angeles was. The 3rd world that was then is starting to become the 1st world today. Do you deny that Europe was not economically sound in the 1970s? Asia? Do you deny that these places today enjoy the same economic success that we had in North America in the 1970s? Imagine what shape the planet would be in today if the whole damned planet drove the behemoths that we had during the 1960s and early 1970s (BEFORE the government took our fun away)? Do you deny that the planet would be in a very shytty place today had it NOT been for all that catalytic converter stuff and downsizng of our engines and cars? Yes the party was over and the fun continues to be sucked right out... But you deny that we need to change? What is YOUR solution? Because quite honestly...in a short while...we will be 8 billion people. And yes...we will continue using gasoline and oil for other stuff...but...at least...can we NOT use it for our daily needs for transportation? I mean...is it soooooo phoquing horrible to wean off of gasoline for our daily driven vehicles? Old car batteries could be recycled in usage for powering our commercial industries when they are no longer viable for cars. That kind of thinking could ease off the power grid. Yes. Yes. Recharging the cars will obviously put pressure on the power grid. Ill ask you this.... Aint America about INNOVATION? When Trump says Make America Great Again, in what way did he mean it as and how did his voters interpret it? Because if you tell me that batteries are not gonna work or batteries are pollutants as well... Well... STOP WITH THE BULSHYTE ARGUMENTS and START INNOVATING? (yes question mark because some Americans have become too phoquing complacent in their big fat ass (literally|) ways and just whine and bitch but do NOTHING about it...but also bitch about how good the good 'ole days were) The thing is...this is the way the PLANET wants it to be. There are some that DONT want change but others want change. PHOQUE IT!!! FIND PHOQUING SOLUTIONS!!! Because the internal combustion engine is NOT the solution for the next 100 years!!! Whether you want to believe it or not!!! Whether you like it or not, It WAS the solution 100 years ago. The planet is no longer where it was a decade ago, let alone 100 years ago...1 point

My brother has one (only person I know)- but they’re pretty much unilaterally diesel, and that; often untaxed off-road diesel. For, you know; vehicles that can’t drive to a gas station easily (or legally).1 point

I like seeing the underside of vehicles in his videos...something I never really see in the real world. I like the roads too, remind of ones around here...beat up Midwestern roads w/ some curves and undulating sections..1 point

I watch some of his video too, he is pretty good. Also, most of the cars he puts on the lift and goes through suspension and maintenance ease with his mechanic.1 point

Maybe they are planning a full size Bronco on the F150 platform..that would be cool...have 3 sizes of Bronco. Or this is a special edition of the F150 they are developing....Raptor Xtreme Megazord or something... Raptors are all extended and crew cabs, a regular cab Raptor w/ a 4 ft bed would be cool.1 point

Gas pumps and tanks are messy and have a lot of environmental hazards and regulations involved. Plus you have the problem of getting the gas delivered. Though farmers probably have solutions for that issue. Have to ask my farmer buddy how he does that.1 point

The Savage Geese guy basically said the same thing...Ford loyalists will find it an improvement over the previous model and not cross shop... Yes, but not in use as daily transport on streets and roads (excluding the Amish).1 point

Will probably still sell in decent numbers to Ford loyalists based on name alone despite its issues. Looks like the suspension is not up to snuff either... https://www.motortrend.com/cars/kia/telluride/2020/2020-ford-explorer-vs-2020-kia-telluride-three-row-suv-comparison/ The Explorer also rode well over broken surfaces, though it lacked composure. "The suspension is quite bouncy, and the cabin movement was quite notable," Cortina said. Its vague steering also felt overboosted, and the cabin of our tester suffered from so much wind noise at highway speeds that Evans thought one of the rear windows wasn't fully closed. When driving through twisty roads, the Explorer flopped around more, and its poor body control made it feel unwieldy through tight roads.1 point

I assume they will set the prices of EVs to be comparable to ICE vehicles then phase out ICE vehicles. Thus EV sales..1 point

Wonder what Chinese Gov't plan is when EV sales lag hard behind IC, yet they issued a random arbitrary end date for IC sales that comes up far too fast for consumers. Maybe they have a plan to subsidize EV pricing so the consumer at large can afford an EV. I mean; the Gov't can say whatever they want, but I don't believe they can force an individual to buy a car they don't want/can't afford. I believe these Grand Declarations of Banishment will be post phoned more than once as they get closer & closer.1 point

I used to go to NYC Auto show which is really big, but last few years I went to Philly auto show which I think also dealer sponsored but decent size and has most of the latest vehicles. Also, I work much closer to Philly so much easier to leave work earlier and go browse for a few hours while there are very little people around. This year didn't feel like going though. I still can go to NYC show in April but probably will not.1 point

I sat in a 2020 Explorer at the auto show last weekend. I like the dark brown paint. It's a good looking midsize SUV, but the interior looked and felt cheap... Should have taken pics..the plastic trim on the side of the seat was loose, some of the dash trim was loose. Knobs on dash felt cheap and like they would break off easily. As can be seen in the photo in the Motor Trend article linked above, the trim on the driver's door around the door handle was loose with a huge gap. Nothing about it felt more appealing to me than my 6 yr old Grand Cherokee.1 point

Honda Pilot vs. Ford Explorer, MotorTrend Comparison https://www.motortrend.com/news/2019-honda-pilot-vs-2020-ford-explorer-comparison/ "this is the most disappointing new vehicle I've driven since the Ford Ranger. I can't believe an all-new, from-the-ground-up vehicle could feel so cheap and old. There's not any one thing wrong with the Explorer; it's more like everything is wrong" "To sum things up, Ford had plenty of time to overtake the top-quality Pilot by building a better Explorer. But as is, it feels only half-finished, with questionable build quality and quality control issues hurting its chances against the SUV stalwart that is the Pilot. The Explorer will need some serious improvements to match the old Honda. But let's not forget, this is the company that was the first to abandon the car in the North American market to focus on SUVs. Even so, the new Explorer is a swing and a miss from Ford, while the Pilot, remains a stand-up double." What a shame for Ford1 point

The 8L45 is the 8 speed auto used in the V6 Colorado/Canyon and Camaro and was paired with the V6 CTS as well. The 8L90 was used in full-size trucks from 2015 -2019 Silverado to Escalade as well as CTS-V, C7 Vettes and Camaro SS/ZL1 and it's internals are designed to handle the increased torque of the 6.2L in all those applications. The shutter issue that people have had with the 8L90 is either A. The torque converter acting up and not locking up or locking up too soon, And/or B. The Eco fuel saving program in the transmission TCM that's designed to get the transmission in the highest gear possible, as soon as possible, which can also cause lagging or shuttering, add to that a faulty torque converter and you have a problem. So it was the torque converters and the Eco shift algorithm that plagued the 8L90. I drive my Silverado in town with it in Manual mode and select 4th or 5th as max top gear with the selector and it works great, no shuttering or lagging and in D on the freeway and I've had no problems and neither have family or friends that have the 8L90 in their trucks. Ford came to GM to "partner up" on the 10 speed knowing that GM knows automatic transmissions very well and knows how to build solid ones THM400 Hydra-matic comes to mind. Ford's AT's have notoriously been CRAP from F150 to F350 to the Econoline vans for decades, I know because I've had both GM and Ford trucks in my commercial business. Interesting fact that GM's 10 speed 10L80 transmission has been great and problem free in the Camaro SS/ZL1 and Silverado/Sierra, Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade, but Ford's 10 speed 10R80 of the "same mold" has had major internal issues in the F150 and Mustang. So it's all about how it's put together by each manufacturer and which one knows how to do so correctly. Makes you wonder if GM engineers saw the flaws that Ford had with their design and went back, fixed it for their vehicles and didn't tell Ford that it was fcked up. Ford now has their hands full with Class Action lawsuits with their problematic 10 speed. https://www.classaction.org/blog/defective-10-speed-ford-f-150-transmissions-shift-harshly-and-erratically-class-action-claims https://www.stangnet.com/mustang-forums/threads/2018-mustang-10-speed-failure.903142/ https://fordauthority.com/2019/08/ford-f-150-10-speed-transmission-subject-new-lawsuit/1 point

As pointed out recently; the base Escalade has 40 more HP than the base GLS.1 point

Cadillac did not have to make an Escalade V with gi-normous horsepower upgrades. Even with the horsepower wars STILL going on. As an enthusiast, I think they should myself. As a business owner, Ill say: Hold on a minute! Easy profit YOU say... Ill say maybe? Maybe not. The small R&D money needed to engineer room to package the supercharged V8 in the Escalade engine bay. The small R&D money needed to create new body panels to differentiate it from the other lesser models. The small R&D money needed to safety crash it and approve it. All that creativity and energy and money spent may not have been enough and worthwhile to recuperate even with a higher price tag for a market that simple may NOT be there... The Escalade always sold well. Especially towards its competition. There was NO NEED to invent a new niche for it. Simply put, monies and energies were needed elsewhere...especially when the market deems 400 some odd horsepower ENOUGH for the Escalade... Like the independant suspension thing. It took long enough, right???!!! Well, there was no need to fix that aspect. But finally, for the next gen Escalade in 2021, Cadillac saw that the time is now for independent suspension. Maybe a hi-po V version is what Cadillac people are seeing for 2022? Maybe not... Like I said before, the Escalade engineers and marketers KNOW what the Escalade is and what its not. And if they deem that the time is right for a V version, then the market will see a V version... You could shyte on GM all you want for whatever reason you want...and you will probably have a good argument on your side, for your side. BUT...there are 2 models at GM that GM gets right each and every time. And nobody should question what they are doing with them. Those 2 models are the Corvette and the Escalade. Both the Corvette and Escalade engineering and marketing teams are really really dialed into their products.1 point

Only the Escalade has a chassis at Cadillac- all the rest are unibodies.1 point
-
Hello McFly, The Chassis can handle more than 300 lb-ft of Torque. GM just has not built the motor tranny combo to go above that as you pointed out, they have not exceeded above their potential yet! Valid point and thank you my friend you are right, I was thinking myself with my comment and should have clarified it. Many of us I think tend to think of ourselves and leave comments that are very wide open to interpretation. We all should clarify ourselves versus the market. They have Excitement that others will find, but for myself not yet!1 point

I don’t know if all the BW’s are sold out or not. They definitely are exciting tho. CT5-V is on the way shortly (along with the CT4-V), so if one wanted a hi-po Cadillac, there obviously are products ‘out there’. Oh, and a ‘21 Escalade V. You just can’t sit there, not buying, then complain if it goes out of production. Didn’t the last gen BMW 3-series, when it first came out, take 1.5 years for the M version to be released?1 point

Blackwing CT6-V 4.2L TT does nothing for you? 600+ HP 6.2L SC CT5-V too slow?1 point

That was not the stat I quoted tho. - - - - - Government entities are the absolute worst in predicting and enforcing widespread change. They continually and repeatedly made colossal blunders, then do it all again. In my opinion, it is dangerous... or at least self-defeating to look to Gov't for the solution, specifically; end dates. I do not partake in that religion. It has to be organic to be successful long-term. Government gophers never grasp that concept of nature.0 points

One of the YouTube review guys I like (Savage Geese) said it looks like Ford intentionally built it to be a rental/fleet model. <random content> Still February, but it was 50, sunny and breezy at the lake on Sunday..enjoyed a stroll at one of my favorite parks...had to remind myself that it is still a month until Spring. Been rainy today, snow on the way... </random content>0 points
