AMG One is DEAD, The web site implys that, MB does not talk about it and all links are dead that used to be active. They are cutting everywhere. Too late to the party, this is a product that never should have been to begin with. They should have focused on pure EV like Tesla.3 points
-
Maybe they should take Omega and create a performance CUV to put beside the Escalade.3 points

I'd like to see it's time with four 200-lb adults in it; 800 lbs over the already HEAVY curb weight. I mean- that's why those seats are there right; to take your— WAIT!! There should be a MBAMGGTS63 3+3 - a 3 row sedan, so you can add 1200 lbs of passengers to a 4800 lb sedan and then go racing! 6000 lbs around the 'Ring!3 points

The AMG One might have been interesting 5 years ago, but now it would be just another hypercar.. Koenigseggegg is doing some really interesting things w/ ICE design.2 points

I believe the next Vette we will get will be a Z06 with a flat plane crank as they say. And the next one after that will be the one in the pics. A hybrid possibly callled the Zora with the aforementioned 900 plus horsepower. Elon is promising that the Tesla Roadster 2.0 will be a monster performer of epic proportions. 0-60 in 1.9 seconds || 1/4 mile in 8.8 seconds || Top speed 250 MPH || 620 mile range. Handling that is better than if it were on rails. Quite the little speed demon... And this is why I think...the AMG ONE will NOT be built: Mercedes-AMG missed the window of opportunity with the AMG One 1. Too much R&D money that went nowhere because it was supposed to be launched already. And now business is slowing for M-B 2. They need to move the additional R&D money for it to pay off the diesel scandal. 3. Emissions is the reason why it hasnt launched yet. And the more the AMG-One sits in R&D mode, the less time M-B has to sell it as Europe's emissions laws (and other countries and continents) are getting tighter and tighter for ICE vehicles. 4. The more money they dump into it, the LESS money they will have to engineer EVs. 5. The EV technology is advancing fast as it is. EV sports cars like the Tesla Roadster 2.0 will be the NEW benchmark for sports cars. The AMG One is fast becoming irrelevant and it aint even out yet. 6. Koenigsegg is getting ready to launch a 3 cylinder, camless, 600 plus horsepower supercar... Koenigsegg will be the one to benefit...2 points

Amazon Prime/Whole Foods is having issues..tried to place an grocery order and they couldn't schedule a delivery time tomorrow (or any other day this week). So I went to the local Giant Eagle (NE Ohio/W Pa chain) this afternoon, no more crowded than usual for a Sunday (worst day to go grocery shopping), they were pretty much out of bread and meat, no TP or paper towels either. But I found pretty much everything on my list. I'm not sure if someone has a sense of humor or what, but back by the empty meat counters there was a shopping cart chock full of packages of condoms with a 20% off discount sign.2 points

“Wild Reports” And again they don’t have a supercharger in 10 years, and AMG has cut displacement over 33% from the 6.3 V8 of a decade ago. And all AMG 53’s are all mild hybrids and the 63’s are in the process of switching over, GLE and GLS already are. On February 10, 2020 they signed a five year deal with Ineos ( I thought it was 10) and Mercedes committed to 5 more years of F1 and I don’t know if anyone else is committed that long. https://jalopnik.com/mercedes-benz-confirms-its-commitment-to-formula-one-in-18415855291 point

This tends to make me feel more solid about the death of AMG One and their exit from F1 racing as MB has HUGE FINES still to come in their Diesel emissions problem. Right now, I bet Diamlers board is looking at how to save money as they cut loses. That means F1 is dead, AMG One is dead especially since they are having major emissions problems with regular auto's and the FAILED AMG ONE cannot meet emissions. Here is one of many stories that show the Arab counteries are falling inline with Europe emissions and will be removing emission polluting autos from their roads. https://www.constructionweekonline.com/article-49209-higher-emission-standards-reshaping-uae-vehicle-fleets Days of ICE Hyper auto's is over especially when they cannot meet emissions.1 point

It will be interesting to see what happens in F1 this year...if the season does indeed start in May or get cancelled completely... <sarcasm> They should just can cancel the rest of the season and give the championships to M-B and Hamilton, as that is the usual predictable result.. </sarcasm>1 point

Then it doesnt work... Emissions is the hard part... And emissions for ICE is getting stricter and stricter. And this is a race engine...that has to be engineered to be 1000 plus horsepower, to meet the engineering specs promised, WITHOUT CHEATING THE EMISSIONS PART...which are getting stricter and stricter to which Mercedes coulndt meet when the emission regulations were relatively lax... https://www.theverge.com/2019/9/24/20881603/daimler-dieselgate-mercedes-benz-emissions-cheating-fine1 point

Probably right about the masks. I wanted some in case I had to board a plane. I sit in "steerage," so there's none of that personal distance factor. I once got tickets for the deep discount inaugural period for the nonstop Lufthansa Portland to Frankfurt service. The outbound is always better ... jet stream. On the way back, the trip is longer and you're tired from the traveling. I saw this one person in the boarding area at Frankfurt and thought, 'anyone but him.' It was a 400 pound + Greek Orthodox priest, dressed in the traditional black robes and with the helicopter landing pad shaped hat, and, sure enough, I got stuck out in the 2 seats on the Airbus 340 on a full flight with him in the adjacent seat. I had the aisle. He literally spilled over into my seating space. As he ate his food, some of the crumbs fell into his beard. He also ordered quite a few of those small bottles of liquor. I leaned into the aisle for the entire 10 hours, risking that the carts would hit me. I did not sleep a wink. That's funny. I guess those would be a less relevant staple in these times. That Maverick and that dog just seem to go together.1 point

AMG One will be on roads in 2021, the car works, it hitting emissions that needs the work. I think they’ll beat the Tesla roadster to market and beat it in a track.1 point

Yes, One has to wonder why MB has become so quiet about the Mythical AMG One and now with them killing power trains, killing models and one off projects, one has to wonder if this will not be killed rather than waste any more money on an auto that cannot meet emissions especially now. I would expect MB to say this project is dead in the near future as they announce other products are at the end of production. Update: Seems MB has moved AMG One Project from a listed auto with the rest to being only on the Concept Show car list now. All links that show up in Google and Bing to interior pages are no longer functional either. This I would take as a sign this project is being killed.1 point

An EV Vette would be cool to see down the road... will be interesting to see the kind of performance Tesla gets out of their new roadster.. The AMG One is mythical, I would think the Tesla Roadster is more likely to happen and be faster..1 point

Would agree with you that always good to have a week or two of food and necessities, but DO NOT panic. I honestly would ASK ALL to NOT buy masks, leave them for the medical community who needs them to help the sick. As proven, those with Healthy Immune systems do recover fine. Those with diminished immune systems are the one that need to be extra cautious. Wishing you all, all the best on being safe, healthy and loving family, friends and neighbors. Help out where you can, but stay vigilant. Looks like we will need to hunker down and hold off on enjoyment of life till this passes. Might as well take the time to start spring cleaning of ones house and clean everything. Nothing wrong with that. Alcohol 70% or higher kills coronavirus as well as all other germs. Make sure to drink some too.1 point

GM isn't in that niche...they make volume FWD/transverse engine appliance CUVs and heavy BOF full size SUVs.1 point

None of that means anything in the real world, though. Using Nurburgring numbers with an SUV is absurd.1 point

I was able to get soup. The variety was not all there. Too bad that a person can't do "Cafe 1.50" at Costco, as in eating it there at their picnic tables ... the "simple pleasures" in life that we took for granted.1 point

No wonder you jump all over the place in comparing 3 door to 2 door and weight, You pretty much are just regurgitating what Motortrend is also saying about the 4 door amg gt coupe. https://www.motortrend.com/news/mercedes-amg-gt-4-door-coupe-nurburgring-lap-record/ According to them this car can take the crown from the Corvette ZR1 2009 model that set the speed record then. It is the fastest 4 seater 4 door coupe car today, but we have not seen the top of the line C8 corvette which will leapfrog this car no problem I am thinking based on the history of the top of the line Corvettes that have beaten the MB auto's. Then the Germans will come back. Always a back n forth between auto companies. No one ever stays the winner winner chicken dinner for ever.1 point

Base car does 60-0 in 97 feet- that's much better than the AMGGTTTGSG (100-105'). Huracan does 104'. Motor Trend tested the '14 Stingray doing 60-0 in 90 feet. C7 Z06 does 1.19 lateral G- that's second only to the Porsche GT3 and better than the lambo AND DaimlerGGGT3. The Camaro beats those 2. LalaFerrari does 1.16. Porsche GT3 does 1.12. You can sit there with your arms crossed and your lower lip out, frowning & grumbling that 'the Corvette ain't no supercar', all day long, but you're still wrong. They HAVE the chassis, they HAVE the brakes, they HAVE the suspension, and they've only shown you the lowest spec versions of the C8 so far. And higher performance variants are coming which will improve upon these class leading numbers even more so.1 point

Costco here in the Seattle Area have removed the tables, you can still order food from the food court, but must be eaten outside in your auto or take home. No standing around inside to eat. Fred Meyers, part of the Krogers family of stores here on the west coast was normal traffic flow I thought when I went to get stuff for my senior parents and drop it off at their house. Yet the produce had areas empty of product, freezer, meats, dairy, etc. all were pretty empty. TP and Paper Towels were gone. Processed foods area like Campbell soup was heavy empty, boxed food stuff was heavy empty. Bread area was decent stocked, but chips, junk food, etc. was all low. Very weird seeing the stores like this, so cold war, depression like.0 points

Maybe your own electronics do not like your attitude towards EVs. After all they are related. Washington State just announced we are up to 41 dead due to Coronavirus. Vail Ski resorts are shutting down globally for the next 2 weeks to allow the Coronavirus to settle down. WOW, good thing I got 14 days in of skiing so I more than broke even.0 points

The Corvette doesn’t meet the WLTP emissions standards that AMG One is trying to make. AMG wants this car to be world compliant, not a regional player. That’s old news, Mercedes said they will be in F1 for years to come. Toto said it and their CEO said it. They signed a 10 year sponsorship deal in February with a new sponsor. They are here to stay and if this season ever starts they are going to win title number 7, as preseason testing shows their car the fastest again and has dual axis steering that no one else has.-1 points
-
They haven’t used a supercharger in 10 years. They went from 6.3 liter to 5.5 liter to 4.0 liters, and now they added mild hybrid system to the 4 liter V8 to help mileage and emissions. And they did that in a 10 year span increasing power and fuel economy along the way.-1 points
-
The Corvette and Camaro can’t meet emissions in Europe either. Which also means they don’t pass in South Korea, India or Japan that also use WLTP. Why isn’t GM fixing that?-1 points
