Now for something shocking.... I am going to enter the “Radwood” scene.... ? I still love my classic cars, but my thought behind doing this is because my son is interesting in it, and it is something we can do together, and grow his love of things on wheels.. While I would love a Grand National for this (love THAT 80s car) I’ll have to see what I would like to give a try to. My namesake (Cavalier), Square body Chevy/Ford, Monte Carlos, Buick T types come to mind.... Sure you guys have more.... ?3 points

Wish I still had my Dad’s ‘84 Escort diesel. That would probably be the only one to show up at a show.2 points

Yep, it started growing on me. Even have a neighbor in the scene- He has a 85 Lynx Wagon....never thought I’d miss those!! I still love the classics of course- but I’d rather have the father/son bonding time... Outside quite. A bit these last few days....2 points

My vote is for a square body Chevy. Loved and miss the 3/4 ton 4x4 LB I had. Solid indestructible trucks.2 points

I love the Radwood scene..the era of cars I grew up with. I’d like to take my 5.0 Mustang to such a show eventually... Great weather today, not too warm. Spent very little time on the computer, grilled some brats, had some brewskis, planted some box woods and azaleas. Really enjoying digging in dirt, getting my hands dirty, working in my lawn...really am becoming my father.. Got my new cell phone yesterday, got it set up pretty quickly. Verizon and iPhones, pretty seamless to update from one to another.2 points

Crispy and wondrously cool this morning, went out on my back deck and stared at the moon. The birds are vividly conversing. It's going to be a beautiful day in SEPA.2 points

Wish I had not sold my Chevrolet 1976 Luv truck as it was restored to mint condition and the woman paid well for the truck as the money did help me in college, but would love to have that truck back. Memories1 point

It's a joke, they're photo shopped, see the headlights? Bimmer kidney grilles just keep getting bigger and bigger as well as Genesis grilles and others. Like the actual X7 snout below.1 point

Starting work, took out the food scrapes from dinner last night to the compost bin, trash, etc. Cloudy, a break in the rain, but otherwise a lovely Washington day of clouds, rain off n on and a good day to get my work done for our new products coming out on 6/16. Another awesome day of working for Dell Technologies and I want to say to @ocnblu @balthazar @oldshurst442 @USA-1 @trinacriabob @riviera74 and everyone else, thank you always for the challanging, stimulating and thought provoking discussions here be it mostly about auto's to the rare tangent on semi political news issues. I truly appreciate the ability to discuss our view points and think about the ways we can make humanity better in the awesome multi-cultural world we live in. Want to leave you with these quotes which always is thoughtful to me. "This country, with its institutions, belongs to the people who inhabit it. Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing government, they can exercise their constitutional right of amending it or their revolutionary right to dismember or overthrow it." - Abraham Lincoln "I can imagine no greater disservice to the country than to establish a system of censorship that would deny to the people of a free republic like our own their indisputable right to criticize their own public officials." - Woodrow Wilson "Peace is not merely the absence of visible conflict. Only a just peace based on the inherent rights and dignity of every individual can truly be lasting." - Barack Obama "The greatest leader is not necessarily the one who does the greatest things. He is the one who gets the people to do the greatest things." - Ronald Reagan "Any man worth his salt will stick up for what he believes right, but it takes a slightly better man to acknowledge instantly and without reservation that he is in error." - Andrew Jackson Humor for us all: "Being president is like running a cemetery: you've got a lot of people under you and nobody's listening." - Bill Clinton1 point

A c8 Cadillac based sport Halo car would be good. This is a nice knock off of the corvette and I am sure many of us here can hear @smk4565 say this is a rebadged Corvette, not a pure Cadillac. In this regards, I think we do need a true change in the body, not the mid engine tech details as everyone uses the same bones to build verious version, but a new skin that does say Cadillac, not Corvette. Good Start to what can become a Great Halo Sports car for Cadillac.1 point

Kinda sad that they are willing to ditch the V8. I Hope that GM/Ford/FCA does not make the same error, especially when it comes to trucks. . . . at least until BEVs can really carry the load of a typical full-size pickup.1 point

And yes...back to cars... I clicked on the Cadillac C8 link but I got an error... PS: I love you guys... I mean, all you folk at C&G and Americans in general! It pains me to see the US this way! That is why I pour my heart out. I dont mean what I say in disrespect. Im just voicing my concern. Im sharing MY point of view with you. Im opening up to you guys. Yes. Its direct. But its as passionate as it comes. because it comes from my heart. It may seem short sighted to some. But that is OK. Its necessary and healthy to share differing opinions.1 point

The singing of the national anthem both Canadian and American at sports games is long past their time.... There is a very hypocritical stance when you take this stance: American and Canadian Veterans fought and died during WW1 and WW2 to preserve OUR rights and freedoms. ( I aint gonna include Viet Nam and Korea and all other wars other than WW1 and WW2 because both our nations involved with the other wars may or may not be in the right...which opens other can of worms...actually, even WW2 is not so cut and dry about who was wrong and who was right and who were the opressors...but I digress) Ill repeat...American and Canadian Veterans fought and died during WW1 and WW2 to preserve OUR rights and freedoms. And the right to protest, how to protest (peacefully even if kneeling during a national anthem AT AT SPORTING EVENT )and where to protest has been fought by these very veterans... Because we HAVE that right and freedom to do so... When we start imposing rules of when and when not to...protest...then we are not as free as we say we are...and we oppress...right? You cant have it both ways... Yes...I know...Kaepernick refused to sign the deal that he was initinally offered and gambled on free agency...and THAT is why he wasnt signed on and lost his job... All that is noise...including the so called disrespecting of the flag... From the get go...Kaepernick was vocal about the kneeling and what that meant. To make people acknowledge that there is a problem with law enforcement in the US. And that black people lose their lives at the hands of the police... Anything else is disengenous.... The "correct" (and popular) narrative 3 weeks ago was that kneeling was disrespectful to the flag and the country. Today, the "correct" (and popular) narrative is that the kneeling in protest during an anthem is to voice and acknowledge that their is a racial problem in the US. I think this statement by J.F.K. 50 or so years ago has been taken seriously... At the end of the day...kneeling during the anthem during a sports game is peaceful revolution afterall...a right and freedom that was granted to us by the thousands that died fighting to maintain our rights and freedoms... A football game TODAY and for the last 40-50-60 -70 years between Dallas and Philadelphia or a baseball game between Toronto and Boston or a or a basketball game between Charlotte and New Orleans or a hockey game between Los Angeles and San Jose has NOTHING to do anymore about national pride during a world war crisis... Dont give me this BS, man. TV stations dont even play the national anthems when they sign off anymore...because they dont sign off anymore... Baseball and hockey players SPIT during the national anthems... All 4 major sports leagues in North America, most of the time, the fans, players, owners, fidget, eat, piss, arrive late and try tio sit in their seats, talk, make-out during the national anthems... so please, dont BS me about national anthems during NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB games... You know what is disrespectful during the national anthems at a North American sporting event?....when a fan base of one country, boos the national anthem of another country when its playing. And both Amercans and Canadians of different cities are guilty if this. Montrealers once booed the American anthem some 20 years ago when Bush Jr. had his Persian Gulf War....1 point

The way he (the 75 y.o.) landed was especially bothersome. On a concrete sidewalk. That's in addition to everything else that was wrong with the situation. As for the Minneapolis situation that ended George Floyd's life, I was in transit, of sorts, when it happened and got up to speed on it a little later. A college student in a small peaceful protest actually "scolded" me for not knowing enough about the situation upon inquiring. (Blame it on uninterrupted Bluetooth music in a rental car to stay focused and alert.) You start wondering what was going through their heads: anger issues, stress, power trips, more stress from training for and working in a COVID-19 environment, pack mentality, etc.? It's like the Rodney King situation of 1992 all over again. But it's also a really tough job, especially in a SWAT type situation. They never know what they'll be facing. Be glad you didn't become a law enforcement agent. You'd probably be a very different person than the one you are today. The people I went to high school with who went into these fields were not likable ... and were still not likable decades later. I don't know anyone from college who went into law enforcement. A fair number of these folks became holy roller types and most of them became even more uptight. Very true about how certain jobs heap on points on military folks returning to the work force. I think that psychological testing is probably now in (wider) use in employing first responders. It should be. As for as aptitude tests that people take for themselves, it's weird what results the 2 Myers-Briggs indicators ending in ?STJ produce - they say you are suited to be a systems analyst, an engineer, a dentist, an accountant ... or a police officer. It's probably built around the Joe Friday "just the facts, mam" M.O. of most ?STJ types. That's one broad brush.1 point

I was speaking as an American to another American having to do with our Constitutional rights and the 1st Amendment (Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Assembly etc..), but yes all have the ability to protest, but not all countries let them do it is what I meant when saying "as Americans". Yes, the 75 yo guy should have been more respected by that particular group of unruly officers, but it is the risk he takes by going out when it's not just peaceful protests going on, but criminal rioting and looting as well, so police were on the defense since they were all being threatened and assaulted with bricks, large rocks and frozen water bottles among other weapons. We just don't know the whole story so it's hard to speculate. Too bad it turned out like it did and the officers are being reprimanded for it. Again, there are some that need to be investigated and removed if they have repeated insubordination issues like Chauvin. I agree that Chauvin was way out of hand with the arrest of George Floyd who passed away in his custody and there's absolutely no excuse for it, especially when he was already cuffed. It wasn't a random act of police brutality though, the two had history and worked as security guards at the same night club in the past, so who knows what happened there and what Chauvin was thinking, revenge for something Floyd did...who knows at this point. Still no excuse and very wrong of Chauvin and he's paying for his decisions. Two of the four officers were on their 2nd or 3rd day of duty so they were probably pretty nervous with Chauvin being the Senior Supervising officer. The whole thing was a really bad and sad situation. Kapernik should have gone about it in a whole different way, there are many other ways he could have gotten his message out there. He's known as being racist and hostile towards America before any of his kneeling acts started. He just wanted the limelight because his career was crumbling and it backfired on him. I personally can't stand him and don't know any Americans who like the guy including other African Am. friends of mine. I think what Drew Brees recently stated was correct, it is disrespectful to the American Flag and National Anthem which in turn is disrespectful the the country and all Veterans who fought and/or died so he could be an overpaid baller ahole. All real American's know to stand, remove your hat if wearing one and hold it or your hand (if not wearing a hat) over your heart while standing during our National Anthem. Period. He's making it like our flag is a sign of racism or oppression which is BS! It's a sign of Freedom and Prosperity to all Americans no matter their race, as well as close ally's of the United States of America. We can go deeper into this race issue here, but I'd rather not on this platform. BACK TO CARS!!! How about some news on the C8 Corvette?!1 point

Last call for May spotting - on the last day of May, the 31st: Near JAX, and just off the Beltway, it looks like birds of a feather flock together. I'll take the one on the right ... less thirsty. Trifecta of Dodge-Ram products, still in the same place - the charcoal enamel color seen on FCA of products as of late is nice but, on that Charger, I think it would look way better with basic aluminum (shinier) alloys to keep it from looking that drab. My 2 cents. Further down I-95 on the Treasure Coast, north of Palm Beach County. Wow ... this is one car that has gotten better and better. (I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the next rendition.) I can't tell if it's the red or the orange they've been offering on the Charger lately, but it's definitely flattering on this vehicle. For random sighting photos, FL's lack of front license plates works wonders.1 point

This is 2 reviews in one. Like the title of the review says, with a Fiat 500, it depends. Here, I'm not talking about their reliability. That's a big question mark across the board. I'm talking about the driving experience in the 500 and how it varies by the model you have. In this case, a while back, I had 2 back to back Fiats in different places, given to me by the rental car to fulfill the economy car with automatic criteria. Fiat 500 coupe This is the reboot of the old school Fiat 500 coupe of yesteryear that people laughed at, stereotyped as the prototypical Italian car, was once truly ubiquitous, and could be picked up and moved by 2 or 3 strong people. The difference is that the more recent one is bigger, has cleaner sheetmetal, is tech savvy (from digital odometers to check engine systems to connectivity). While it may be cute, the basic Fiat 500 couperis basic transportation. And, even though it has a back seat, it's only meant for 2 people (and 2 small people, such as children) at the very most. This is because of the tight rear leg room and quickly raked roof line of the coupe. The trunk isn't that roomy, either. The driving experience is underwhelming. Power is suitable for most things except tricky passing. The automatic transmission shifts decently enough though it doesn't approximate the more seamless shifts of smaller VW or Citroen automatic econoboxes. You will definitely feel what your tires are doing. Perhaps too much so, as what is transmitted through the steering wheel almost gives you TMI. The ride is a little busy, but it's certainly better than that of older entry-level Fiats. The dashboard is simplistic. Basically, it's one big center oval with all the information arranged in or near it. With the Fiat 500 being simplistic all the way around, infotainment and climate controls are equally so. When it comes to the center stack, that's not such a bad thing. And, if it's a rental, you want to be able to quickly decipher the infotainment and climate control systems and be safely on your way. The one thing I did not like is that the dashboard has metal that was the same color as the car's exterior. In this case, the car was white. Hence, large expanses of the dashboard were of white sheetmetal with black inserts for the functional areas. I didn't mind parting with this car after having it for 3 days. Fortunately, those 3 days were in an area that was not at all demanding in terms of driving requirements. This Fiat 500 coupe reboot is aimed at the same type of buyer that would buy the VW "Bug" reboot ... and who might even put the flower in the vase on the dashboard (was that a hippie thing?). While this Fiat is larger than a Smart (for two), in terms of what it can do, it doesn't seem to be able to do much more. This is the kind of car you buy because you specifically want to ... or want to make some kind of statement by having it as you set of wheels. There are some smaller Euro and Asian automatic vehicles I have actually come to like. The basic Fiat 500 coupe is not one of them. 1. The location was inspiring. The car was less so. 2. Its lines are nicer than the original car from the '60s and '70s that it mimics 3. I forgot - it had a nifty glass roof that was fortunately tinted but required that the A/C be turned on at all times 4. With the sun setting behind me and not knowing Photoshop - yet, I couldn't get my shadow out of the passenger door 5. It's pretty much all here in that one pod. Thank goodness for a decent looking leather stitched wheel and steering wheel remote audio controls. 6. I will have to hand it to them for including a temperature gauge, which has always been important to me. Also, at 3,747 km, this is a young car - that's about 2,400 miles in U.S. terms 7. Kudos for a simple infotainment center and easy to use climate control. A big thumbs down for the white sheetmetal on the dashboard. End of Fiat 500 coupe section.1 point
