  1. Don’t remember if I put a pic of this guy up here. Found him stuck in a bucket, kept him around for 8-9 days while he worked on flight (and grew). Fed him, then weened him off to finding/feeding himself. Near the end, I could call him and he’d bop 30 feet across the ground to me to eat a worm I found. He’d fly to your arm and all. A neat experience.

  3. What it is with these millennials and hipsters? You are killing the razor industry. (What category do you identify with? Hipster or millennial?) (oops, here I am doing this stereotyping thing again) (bad bad on me) (rhetorical question...and me trying to be funny...dont answer) (trying to be funny are the keywords here) (Dont @ me) (I dont even know what "dont @ me" even means) Anyway...cute dogs. @Robert Hall You got cute dogs too. @balthazar I got a similar story to share. When I was about 4 or 5 years old. I found a wounded baby sparrow in the alleyway next to where we were living. I took it with me inside my home and I remember crying to my mom that it was injured. My mom told me that she was afraid its mommy wont accept it anymore because we touched it. We nursed it together for about 3-4 weeks until it was well and we released it. But I never got to see it again.

  4. Awesome. My dad was really big into his garden - accurately fulfilling the stereotype about Italian immigrants - and he had a few birds that seemed to know him and react to him in a similar way that you described. He just hated it, though, when they ate his figs. Half the figs on that fig tree were basically decimated by birds.

  9. Yep, one of my Grandma's had a two tone blue/white wagon with the bullet proof 4.2L I-6. Needed the 4x4 to get up a gravel hill to the house and property and the wagon for groceries and dogs. It was a solid pretty reliable 4x4 wagon er uh..early 4x4 CUV I guess ha. Like below just dark blue bottom section.

  10. Hahaha I'm a hairy fella.. I was born in 1988 so I'm definitely in the millennial category(although the stereotype seems to be half a generation younger than me). I am certainly not a hipster. I don't wear skinny jeans, fedoras, beard wax...

  11. Adorable... here's a pic from a couple days ago of our two remaining Yorkies--Ginger (age 12) and Henry (age 14)....lost Penny last year and Zo earlier this year, both were 14. Getting them to the groomers later this week, pretty shaggy.

  12. Correct...the MDX is Acura's Pilot, the RDX is a bit larger than the CR-V. There is also the CDX which is smaller than the CR-V (China only, it appears).

  14. '81 Eagle Sundancer Conv. conversion model, only built in '81 and '82. Pretty unique, how many can say they own a convertible 4x4 Coupe with decent ground clearance? Nice vanity plate too, "81 4x4". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMC_Eagle#Sundancer_convertibles

  15. Too bad GM gave up on making V6 engines as competitive as the V8 engines from an earlier era. The 3800/3900 aside, GM V6 engines were kinda mediocre. The DOHC 3.6 is not what a GM engine should be. A pushrod v6 derived from the Vortec V8 engines would probably be much better just about everywhere. Only problem: the sixes have been replaced by turbo fours. SAD.

  16. I don't see where Oldsmobile fits and would have enough sales to be around still. Do we really need more 1.5t, 2.0t and 3.6L CUV's from GM?

  17. Wait- I thought some bought manuals because they LIKED them?? ? Chances certainly are that those 6/4/2 units are long gone. I know of a really clean '70 Catalina Safari 3-spd, saw it at a car show a couple years ago, then again this month- it had been smacked into by a drunk. No bigger deal than a floor-mounted manual; you're doing the same thing in the same position... It was not only standard, it was the standard. Didn't find Olds' info, but the 3-spd was standard on the '71 LeSabre, LeSabre Custom & Centurion.

  18. Peter Gabriel has such an awesome voice. I never knew Genesis with him as the singer. I got to experience that on youtube. But his solo career I knew quite well back in the day. He was a staple on Montreal radio. Liked him then. Like him even more today with youtube. Cool version indeed!!!

  23. The CDX could do that. There was an article in Motor Trend that speculated it may come to the US...but that was 3 years ago. Edit: The CDX is supposed to come to the US later this year as a 2021 model, according to at least one article. https://hondacarmodels.com/2021-acura-cdx/

  25. They only have two. Buick and Cadillac and Chevy have at least three. I believe some automakers have four or more. Acura could probably use one more to compete against the Encore or XT4.

  26. Im bald on top. So you beat me there with the hair. I shave my face every damned day. Working in the restaurant industry just makes it that more cleaner for the customers, health inspectors and when the bosses (my partner and I) lead by example and we both are clean shaven everyday, it makes it that much more easier to (not demand) by politely suggest that we prefer that our employees are clean shaven too. We cant force employees to be clean shaven, but we have to enforce a mandatory beard net as that is the law. But we much prefer that employees are clean shaven. Its a cleaner look. But all that is for nothing as we wear medical masks now... Not mandatory, but we prefer to do it that way for our customers. (and for ourselves, I guess) And it gets hot in the phoquing face. And hence why I had to vent yesterday. Nothing really happened. I just got overwhelmed with this whole Covid thing. The masks fogging up my glasses. The heat and sweat on my face while wearing the mask in the kitchen. The constant repeating of ourselves, both the employees to me and me to my employees because we cant hear ourselves communicate to each other due to the muzzling of our voices due to said masks on top of the regular restaurant kitchen noises... It finally blew over and I hd to vent. I vented in my car screaming with every little thing that has bugged me over the last month or two. LOL. Plus I vented with a post on here due to something that has bugged me on here, but then I edited it and posted that I vented and now Im happy. But I bet I got more chest hair than you. Im more macho than you in THAT way at least.

  28. Rivian files new paten for drop tail gate per Teslarati.com. Everyone watches everyone and in the auto industry that is no exception where Rivian is expected to really shake things up. They had shown at an auto show a concept tail gate that dropped. It now seems it could very well be available on the truck as an option over a traditional tail gate or it could become the standard tailgate. Teslarati discovered this reviewing patent filings from December. Patent details of the actual tailgate here: https://patentscope.wipo.int/search/en/detail.jsf?docId=WO2019236967&tab=PCTBIBLIO Teslarati story here: https://www.teslarati.com/rivian-r1t-tailgate-swing-drop-patent/

  30. I believe the MDX covers the Acura version of the Pilot. Why Acura has no true equivalent of the Honda CR-V and HR-V is a mystery to me. (Some may argue that the RDX fills the CR-V role).

  34. I wondered the same thing. There was an awful lot of hardware taking up engine bay space with yesteryear's turbocharged engines. - - - - - Happy Father's Day to those who have taken on the challenge of raising a rugrat or two ... or three ... and giving it their best.

  36. Odd that Olds would do stripped down models like that, trying to complete w/ the Chevy dealer across the street I guess...they even had a base model w/ a 6 (Chevy straight 6 through '76, Buick V6 for '77) and 3pd manual (column shift?)

  37. If that interior pic is an indication of what will be in the new 2021 Envision, a lot of people will be happy to buy this one over this year's model. Does the "avoid year one" of a model still apply in this case?

  41. The 4x4 posts while having the 4x6 screwed into them are for tenting. This allows us to have from heavy clear plastic early in the year when frost is still possible over the starts planted to protect them to using the lite weight cloth coverings to keep insects out but allow rain to fall on the plants. At this stage except for the lettuce as this helps keep it very clean, the rest of the veggie plants are established enough to grow with out tenting needed. Here is how it looked earlier this year after we had already gone from clear heavy plastic to just tenting against the sun. The posts will also be used as I will secure some lattice work for the squash plants to grow up on and let the squash hang and grow big, but clean. Planning to secure lattice this weekend if it does not rain. It will look like this. Lattice also allows the plant while growing and keeping the veggies clean to spread out easier so it does not mildew here where we tend to get plenty of drizzle.

  42. I watched TFL Car track test an Infiniti QX50 which has similar performance numbers to the RDX against a Mercedes GLC43 and it wasn’t event remotely close and we aren’t even talking GLC63. Suggesting any Acura outside of NSX is on par with a BMW or Mercedes is like saying a Honda Accord has performance and fun factor to rival a Camaro or Mustang. And even the NSX is 1 second slower around the Nurburgring than the BMW M5. NSX is over 30 seconds a lap behind the AMG GT Pro. Acura doesn’t know performance.

  43. "Fast" refers to top speed. Nearly every BMW sold here is limited to 155MPH. The '20 M550i is limited to only 130 MPH. Multiple Cadillacs have exceeded 180 MPH. Multiple Cadillacs have gone 200. You certainly didn't mean "fast". If you meant 'quick' --which refers to acceleration-- a 2019 550i claimed 3.9 sec to 60, slower than a number of Cadillacs. The '20 M550i claims 3.6 to 60 (still; Automobile called it "unexciting"), the '19 CTS-V was tested at 3.7, a virtual tie. Of course- this is only bragging rights (if anyone cared to stick around and listen to a BMW owner talk... about anything). No one anywhere is drag racing a 5-series.

  44. I like the '21 Escalade 'luxury' trim with the bright grillework. Cadillacs should be shiny. The '90s monocromatic 'sport' version doesn't look great, IMO.
