  1. I took Henry to the groomers on Wednesday (he's 14) and Ginny (she's 12) to the groomers today. Both now have nice short summer 'dos..lots of gray in their faces..

  2. 3.6. She's had it almost 2 years. 139k miles. It was a $4000 hooptie for when she had a job on the other side of the state and was driving over and back each week (she doesn't like driving her Trax on the turnpike). Current issue happened right after I drove a couple months ago. The transmission gear position sensor that communicates w/ the ignition failed, so it thinks it's not in park when it's in park, so the ignition button stays in the accessory position and runs down the battery overnight. It also has a small coolant leak and the airbag light is on. It's got new tires, new brakes, new struts/shocks, new fuel pumps, the usual underhood maintenance (belt, hoses, etc). I fixed the 6 disc CD changer, loose inner fender trim, loose underhood trim (got a bunch of those push plugs and a tool to remove them) and a broken glovebox latch. It does drive nicely when everything is fixed. But like every old high mileage luxury car my sister has bought over the last 20 years, something always breaks...she never learns.

  12. We want to keep the cars we really liked at one time in the present ... but it's both impractical and expensive to do that. That's exactly why, at the end of the day, my perusal of maintained, low mileage '98 Intrigues, '94 to '96 Caprices, early '80s Grand Prixs, and mid '70s Cutlass Supreme coupes remains just that ... perusal.

  13. From @dfelt link above... https://electrek.co/2020/06/25/chevy-bolt-retrospective/ But here, I remember this article... https://www.greencarreports.com/news/1119613_honda-joins-gm-others-in-heated-opposition-to-trumps-epa-fuel-economy-freeze So which one is it? Does GM agree with the rollback or does GM NOT agree with it? Because I also found THIS article... https://www.latimes.com/business/story/2019-10-31/epa-trump-emissions-lawsuit So...what happened between the first article that was published in Oct 2018 and exactly ONE YEAR later with the other article? (Oct 31. 2019) Im confused...

  16. Executive compensation plans always have places for increased profits, lower costs, etc. I know in some gone companies I had worked at in the early 90's it was common to hear upper management ask lower management, how can we make it cheaper and yet sell it at the same price for bigger profits? Yes, I think many Executive compensation plans focus on the 1% getting richer at the expense of everyone else. I honestly think the human self interest at the expense of others happens many times in those extreme Alpha's. Digital Computer corporation would still be here if not for the last CEO Palmer who got a contract focused on profits to himself and the board as well as big bonuses if he could sell the company. Many Alpha type leaders look to themselves first. This would be no different in an auto company that ends up killing quality products.

  17. Mom may be picking up a 2011 Cadillac DTS this weekend. Fingers crossed. The 2002 DTS was going to have to be replaced SOMETIME console and tailgate wars! that self folding shifter is absurdly awesome. the girth of that center stack is simply majestic.

  19. Hahaha I'm a hairy fella.. I was born in 1988 so I'm definitely in the millennial category(although the stereotype seems to be half a generation younger than me). I am certainly not a hipster. I don't wear skinny jeans, fedoras, beard wax...

  20. Don’t remember if I put a pic of this guy up here. Found him stuck in a bucket, kept him around for 8-9 days while he worked on flight (and grew). Fed him, then weened him off to finding/feeding himself. Near the end, I could call him and he’d bop 30 feet across the ground to me to eat a worm I found. He’d fly to your arm and all. A neat experience.
