  1. Supposedly available as a 'credit option' in the Firebird in '79. Apparently in '78 the Chevy 305 was available in a Formula LT Sport Edition (which I'd not heard of).

  2. 301 came out in ‘77 at PMD, but would have to look up availability in the Firebirds.

  3. The Cragars were definitely a thing on muscle cars and pony cars in the 60s-70s... still popular on those types of cars today for the retro Day 2 look. I'm not a Baby Boomer, but I do like the period muscle car look. The 301 N/A was available in '80-81 in all trim levels I've read..155hp..not quite the low point, but pretty close. there was a Turbo 301 available (210 hp) n the T/A and a Chevy 305 (150hp) also, and apparently in '81 the Pontiac 4.3 (265) V8 w/ 140hp. '80-81 were pretty dreadful years for Pontiac performance...and for performance in general.

  4. I believe the 455 went thru '76 in the Firedbirds (unlike Chevy- who killed their big block after '73 or '74 in the 'maro). 301 N/A is lethargic, but the 4.9L Turbo moves well for '80-81. No; it's no Super Duty.

  5. The black Trans Am is an '80-81 w/ the 301 and automatic...pretty weak sauce, compared to the nearly-identical looking '79 which was still available w/ the 400 and a 4 spd manual IIRC. (some '79 T/As came w/ the Olds 403 and an automatic, IIRC). The maroon '75 has the Formula hood, would be a 350 or 400..not sure if the 455 was still available in '75. This one is very similar to one my brother had in the late 70s--his was a '75 Formula 400, dark blue w/ the white interior. He had wide Cragar SS wheels on it.

  6. The black F-bird: Says 4.9, if I'm reading it correctly. So, that's a 301 c.i. Pontiac V8, it has no air (look at all that space under the hood ... and pull tabs for interior venting!), manual windows, and cloth seats. I'd happily own it, but not in that color. The maroon F-bird: My favorite year for this car; just need to get rid of the hood intake scoops, the white vinyl interior, and the aftermarket wheels

  7. Just rub it a little bit, hopefully it will come to life.

  8. For someone who has not driven or experienced the excitement of what electric power train brings to driving, you are sure cocky of them being failures. What are you so scared of about EV's? Your so sure they are uninviting to the driving dynamic that you hate it even before you have driven it. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.

  9. Sorry. I will take what Cadillac is offering in terms of BEVs. That BMW is more cartoonish than ever, regardless of whether it is a BEV or an ICE SAV. Who hired their stylists and designers?

  14. Ohh. ohh... In Gatlinburg Tennesee.... "My real random thought upon logging in this morning: I wonder what Lorena and John Bobbitt are up to these days ..." I am sure we will get the long and the short of it.

  16. Some cool old stuff in this yard... I think they build vehicles in batches and simplify construction costs by making certain items unavailable for certain trims.

  17. Ohhhhh....my mother lives in Hendersonville, my sister in Black Mountain. I may have to drop in and buy you a few local brews and a pizza. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B089M1KSF2?ref=ppx_pt2_dt_b_prod_image One of the next books I am going to read. On another note, it's amazing how stupid and uninformed car salespeople can be. Was looking at a Wrangler, just killing time before an appointment and kicking tires in the showroom. Asked the salesperson if it had the same 8 speed as the 300, as I really liked the transmission in the Chrysler 300. Salesperson was like..."no, the Wrangler uses a Torqueflight 727 3 speed, been around since the 60's. Nothing else will hold up to going off road like that."

  18. Here is a church I was the head electrician on. They did something similar. It's really rather cost effrective.

  19. When I lived up there, the infatuation with being able to drive to Vancouver was strong at first but declined after the honeymoon period. I don't think I'd like living there and I "met" Vancouver when one could actually make it pencil to live there.

  20. It's interesting to look over at the right of the C&G homepage and see whose birthday it might be on any given day. Sometimes, it's of members who haven't posted in a while and were characters. Today, it's that of a member named "grandprixman." If he is in fact a Grand Prix man, he must be a cool enough guy.
