  1. OK. here's the update since last post. Cylinders were filled with Marvel Mystery Oil end of August but the motor never responded to turning any further. OK, it may have moved about 1/16th of a revolution. It's stuck. It has to come out. Using a borescope, most of the cylinders are fine, 2 look less so. Don't have any idea why it won't turn- it's something else. I decided to have the Tri-P rebuilt and run that, it needs to get done so the motor can use it when being built. 2 months turnaround on the carbs, supposedly 3 months before the engine builder has a slot for my mill. Cam is spec'd, going to do some transmission recon as I may swap it for a THM400 unit. It's either get this car moving again, or sell it off.

  2. AAAAAAaaabsolutely not.... and I'm no big fan of the XT interiors (though XT6 is nice enough if a bit bland in styling) The Model S interior is very creaky, loads of cheap plastic, misaligned panels and seams, minimalism to the point of starkness, and lets not forget the window switches from a Dodge Dart. $10k on the Model Y I priced out yesterday. Have you seen the drivers in NJ?

  3. I understand this, but I also get what @oldshurst442 is saying, take the best of their top end brands and get them into the portfolio while you then invest in making things even better. I am sure they could take some top end platforms and stretch here, pull there and give is a Chrysler look so they have some product to sell as they look long term to create some even better American focused product. If they build a New Charger, Challenger, then use what they build there to give it sheet metal tailored for Chrysler, but that still means at least 18 months at the shortest before a new product would be out, so in the short run to get some interest, keep sales going and people coming in the door seeing product, a few rebadges to hold them over in the short run.

  5. You know what would really be phoqued up? If Chrysler got neither a Fiat nor a Peugeot as a badge job, but an Opel. But seriously speaking. For the near near future, ANY badge job from ANY make is better than the alternative for Chrysler the brand. Chrysler has NO 3 models to sell, which at this point in time is as good as none. Stellantis CEO Tavares has to 1. give Chrysler some products to sell IMMEDIATLEY as Chrysler is starved to almost death 2. Which means badge engineering for the short term future. 3. get an awesome marketing program in place for Chrysler to help sell the new badge engineered product. 4. High end Peugeots would be ideal as Chrysler needs to maintain a high end appeal. High end Peugeots have what it takes for Chrysler to succeed. 5. After and if this succeeds, the next generation platforms could be personalized for Chrysler. 6. If it fails, Chrysler fails. But lets be honest, Chrysler is on borrowed time as we speak anyway. Stellantis does NOT have the time to engineer NEW product JUST for Chrysler. NEW product JUST for Chrysler will take 3 years at a minimum and Chrysler does NOT have 3 years of life left...

  7. If Chrysler is "all new" by being badge-engineered fiats or Peugeots, don't bother. You already F'd it up.

  8. Over the course of CES 2021, Cadillac dropped a few bombs upon the critics and car enthusiasts with their PAV Pod and eVTOL. However, they also unveiled their “EV Flagship” known as the Celestiq. Following the recent reveal of what would be Cadillac’s first electric vehicle, the Lyriq, in August of 2020, the Celestiq will be a hatchback while the Lyriq is an SUV. The Celestiq will be a four-seat hatchback with standard all-wheel drive. However, it will come with up and coming technology in its four-wheel steering, allowing it to make sharper and more precise turns. The vehicle will also come with transparent glass roof panels that each passenger can control to different levels of transparency, as well as a large LED display that stretches across the entire dashboard and personal screens for the rear passengers. The Celestiq will be powered by a 100-kWh battery pack allowing it to have a 300+ mile range but will most likely come with a six-figure price tag. However, Cadillac asserts that it will be bespoke and hand-built in the Detroit area and be completely customized for individual customers. So if you are looking for a 4-seat luxury hatchback EV, start saving up for the 2025 release. View full article

  9. I don't think being aggressive driver and caring about your car are same things. Also, living in big cities with very limited parking and a lot of congestion will put scuffs and dings on your car no matter how careful you are. I haven't seen one big city where cars didn't look like they just came out of demolition derby.

  12. I'm a much calmer driver here in Pittsburgh. They're overly polite in this city to the point of being annoying. When I'm back in NJ or NY, I turn into Mr. Hyde. But the more severe accidents are on the high speed highways. My experience driving a SuperCruise Cadillac to NJ was that it was much less tiring than doing the driving myself. In day to day commuting I'd want to drive myself, but after about 30 minutes on the PA Turnpike that I've driven hundreds of times, I'm fine letting the car do most of the driving.

  13. Buying a car, sight unseen like a bag of parakeet food via Amazon, seems to me to be the very OPPOSITE of a "luxury buying" experience. So that wouldn't be a "redefined luxury buying experience" in as much as it would be the elimination of a luxury buying experience. The automobile continues its undeniable march toward being a total disposable appliance. And this is coming from someone who places zero weight on "the buying experience"; walking across a marble floor or a vinyl tile floor for 30 minutes has zero effect on a vehicle I may well own for over 10 years.

  16. Wife's co-worker moved here recently from somewhere a number of states away, and her comment RE Jersey drivers was priceless; "lawless animals". It's fine here, just keep your slow-ass in the right lane. Most accidents aren't on limited major highways where AD currently is enablable, they're on all other roads. I declined to pay $900 for the 'safety package' option on my ordered truck, and I'd never pay $2-10 grand to momentarily take my hands off the wheel so... I can rest them in my lap yet still have to be alert/looking thru the windshield. Amazing that some folk think this is a viable choice. IMO, that's like paying 10 grand to hit an optional button while you're driving, every 10 seconds, that silences the buzzer that's letting you know you're driving.

  18. That’s because Tesla has had the bulk of the EV market to themselves. Let’s revisit those numbers in about three to five years when the competition goes all in on EVs. And Tesla interiors are garbage in fit and finish and quality. You are delusional to think otherwise much think it’s better than Cadillac. There is absolutely no correlation or data to suggest that will actually happen. Hell, in its current form, autopilot has made it worse. Ask the idiots who decided to take naps while their Tesla’s “drove” them home.
