From an era where so much greatness was created! 1 of the 547 built '87 Buick GNX's just sold for $205,000. Kicker is, that's actually the second-highest price paid for one. In 1987, only the Porsche 911 Turbo could barely squeeze past a GNX in a 0-60 run, by 1/10th of a second. https://www.foxnews.com/auto/rare-1987-buick-gnx-muscle-car-sold-for-2050002 points

Replaced front and rear rotors and pads on my daily. Really was due as you can see from the picture. Unfortunately, rockauto sent me wrong rear pads and I discovered that when I already disassembled the rear brakes. Had to run to local auto store to pick up whatever they had. What is really unfortunate is that I bought the parts more than 30 days ago (just couldn't find time to install) and now I can't get refund for the wrong parts. I guess live and learn. It's in a balance. As a master electrician, I have worked in areas with lax oversight. I have seen some amazingly stupid things.2 points

Yes, long run. Similarly for Buick and their Road Wheels, around well into the 80s. And Olds with the SS II (?).1 point

Sadly a total loss. Cool and funny though. Too funny. They had a lot of fun making this.1 point

This is a very interesting turn of events ? In 2010, Daimler and Nissan entered a strategic agreement to co R&D for future auto development and this included a substantial investment by each company in each other via stock purchases. They say this will remain in place and yet Nissan has sold their complete stake in Daimler of 16,448,378 shares or 1.54% of Daimlers outstanding shares to a tune of 1,149 Billion Euro's worth or 1,397 Billion US. Nissan says that at this time, the full proceeds will be used to promote and develop electrification of their auto portfolio. Nissan has stated that the agreement for future collaboration will stay in place between the two companies. The interesting part is that they make no statement about using Daimlers EV platform, batteries or any other tech from Daimler. Instead it appears Nissan will strike out on their own for their own R&D of electrification. Nissan sells its entire stake in Daimler (nissannews.com) ? This does make one wonder about the tagline of "The Best or Nothing" when your partner decides to unload a hefty investment in your company and to expand their own R&D to build additional BEV auto's.1 point

Not trying to be all political but, that's what your people(west coast) have voted for, more government oversight.1 point

I have no idea, other than the growth of this area has really pushed up prices in the greater Seattle Area. I do know that the local governments are getting crazy stupid with permits. Have to replace some of my fence in the back yard, just rotted out and a tree branch fell and took it out during winter. The local city had in their latest news letter a reminder to all city citizens that permits are required for all work around your house. They had listed $150 for fence permit. WTF, WHY do I have to pay you to replacement fence with a new one. Nope not gonna happen, will do it myself this summer and I am not paying their robbery. In the quote, Hot water Tank permit was $250.00 This is so crazy that I had to laugh at it. I have decided I am going to hold off and will end up replacing the tank my self with one bought from Home Depot. The price is just crazy stupid, will have my son help me with the project and then take the tank up to a recycler. Bummer about your frozen pipe, yes, pipes bursting suck., glad the mess was not too bad. Finished getting caught up on work email, off to clean and sanitize.1 point

Was cleaning / sanitizing till late last night, clean up and then had to do some work till 1 am. slept and back up, getting some work done before I continue my cleanup. Still no quote yet from the plumber for the repair. Did get a quote for a 50 gallon hot water tank replacement and WOW is that pricey now, $3,512.49 This gets me a 6yr 50 gallon hot water tank, 2 gallon thermal expansion tank, repair of copper water lines, code compliant natural gas water heart stand with drip pan. My tank is 10 years old and starting to have rust color in the hot water you get from the tap. I am thinking they will send me a quote for about $25 to 30K large for this sewer line repair.1 point

@David That really sucks! We have underground pipe that supplies water burst this winter but most of the damage was outside. Yours sounds like much worst problem. I hope you got a good home insurance. We eventually got most of the money back from the insurance.1 point

That's super unfortunate @David. I've heard of a few of these in the last year where the main line goes but it's all the homeowner's responsibility to repair. I get it, it just REALLY sucks. Hopefully the expense isn't too bad.1 point

Also, right in that same area, along the Gulf Freeway, and in other parts of Houston, there are several dealerships with the name De Montrond. You'd think you were in Quebec and NOT in the Lone Star State.1 point

Sounds like the name of a subdivision in a Phoenix suburb.1 point

If it will be priced right, might be perfect daily/winter/light off-road vehicle for me.1 point

I saw THAT yellow Viper in that same aforementioned hardware store (from the Random Thoughts Thread) a week and a half ago. In April. Took a pic. Talked to the owner. Young guy. 26 years old. Bought it last fall from the original owner. Fixed the minor problems (clutch was slipping )and replaced the tires over the winter. Yesterday, it was a Mopar Muscle type day for some reason. Yesterday, I saw a red Viper like that yellow one, same generation, an all black, blacked out Challenger Hellcat, at night. Near the aforementioned hardware store. In the day, it was a purple 1971 Challenger that I encountered.1 point
