  1. I dont like purple on most cars either. Other than the Mopars. Although one Mopar I dont like purple on IS the Prowler oddly enough. I used to like it. I got over it. I prefer a yellow Prowler nowadays. On the 911 I posted, I kinda like it. Both Midnight Purple Skylines are 2 die for! Both Mercedes' cars are doable in purple. Although these are wraps I believe. The Volvo, like a mid 1990s Pontiac Sunfire is a hard NO! But the point is: That many folk like purple cars of all shapes and sizes, brands and it dont matter where on the money scale they are in... Yes. The Orange Blast colour for the SS was a blast for sure, (the colour came after the initial launch as my pic was from the original launch colour pallet for the SS)

  2. 0-60 sure, but on a track, when you have to add in handling, braking, grip, aero, top speed, etc the AMG GT 4-door beats the Corvette and so far any Tesla. But bring on the Z06, the Plaid+++ or whatever else, there is a GT73 coming next month, so Mercedes can break their own Nurburgring record for 4 door cars. And the Black Series is way ahead of the C8, it will probably take the Zora to get to where the Black Series is now on a track, and the AMG One is going to beat everything anyway, so I don't know if it even matters.

  3. Its nice to see Ford did the grey bottom thing too in the 1980s Some might not find that grey bottom two tone look appealing. I like it a lot I must say. About the ONLY time I like grey on a car. I may not like that red stripe around the middle however.

  4. Look how boring GM/Chevrolet got even with their 4 door MUSCLE CAR... The colour pallet was diverse enough. But there was something missing. The blue and reds were dynamic but something was amiss. They look lifeless on this car. . Both greens did not suit this car too well. The greys and white should have not even been offered. But somehow, over at Dodge they got it right. I think GM takes itself too serious. They have been taking themselves too serious the last decade. Far too long. Snap out of it!!!

  5. Cadillac has a wealth of proprietary colors to mine. '58 Somerset Blue : '54-55 Pinehurst Green :

  6. GM should start selling high end Cadillacs like as if Cadillac was a boutique brand. At the very least, offer similar wide variety and customization choices like how they do things with the C8 Corvette with a plethora of colour pallets on the exterior and interior.

  7. Unlimited colors doesn't seem to be the case with there Maybach trim. [L to R] ~ black, black, black, silver, silver, dark red, dark green, grey, grey, white, red... and seven 2-tone combos of those colors. So... 7 colors, basically. Well, it is 2 more than the Model S. ?

  9. Final update on the Caddy as the lease is up and after initially contemplating buying it, I decided to turn it in for something different. Inventory is tight but I was able to swing a deal on something I wanted so I pulled the trigger. More info coming on the new ride in a few days. As for the Cadillac, I really had no issues with it. Final mileage was around 33k. I was 3K miles ahead of where I should have been when Covid hit but even using this as our primary family vehicle since then resulted in being well below mileage. You just don't put a lot on when you are work from home so I left 6k miles on the table. It still had the occasional 1-2 funky shift on the first shift after a cold start but the 8 speed is known for that. It would not do it again after that initial shift. Never bothered me enough to take it in to the dealer. I did notice a slight bubble in the sidewall of one of the Nankang's but keeping my fingers crossed I don't get charged for that since the rest of the car is so clean. Those tires held up extremely well and even after 10k miles of use had no appreciable loss of tread depth. All in all, very pleased with this vehicle. The 4-cylinder performed well enough that I never really felt like I missed out by not getting the 3.6 V6. The interior held up really well and was very clean. The front fascia had more stone chips than I would have expected (I don't live on a gravel road and never really travel on any) but they weren't super noticeable since what was underneath almost matched the paint color. I suspect since it was a demo when I leased it, the dealer may have repainted the fascia before I got it. Summary: Enjoyed my 3 years with the car very much. I will miss it. I would not hesitate to buy one used. Before the Covid used car price craziness, they were actually a pretty good used car value.

  10. The colour white for cars is like the flavour vanilla for desserts. Kinda plain but still very very interesting if done right. (Vanilla as a flavour is hella tasty and delicious...) Look at all those 1950s two toned cars. Plain jane and only white, but there is something about a 440 Challenger R/T And its modern counterpart with just the right amount of black accents. White Trans Ams are the same way with the subtle electric blue stripes and the blue back end A couple of (mostly) all white C4 Vettes make a statement And as clichéd as a white Cadillac (Deville or Eldorado)) convertible with Longhorns are on the hood (Boss Hogg original and Burt Reynolds' version), you got to admit, these cars look good in white http://motorlandamerica.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/IMG_3187-1200x900.jpg How about a modern white Caddy? Id say its a winner!

  11. They had a 4 cylinder SL during the first generation, but the Pagoda SL was I-6, and since the 70s it has been mostly V8s, until the V6 popping up more recently, and of course some V12s. And cylinder count doesn't equal horsepower. I believe both the next-gen SL and the next AMG GT will get the turbo 4 hybrid, and with 640 hp and 730 lb-ft of torque, I am sure it will be faster than a 495 hp, 475 lb-ft Corvette. And they are putting an 805 hp V8 hybrid in the AMG GT and SL. And it is possible that they do a 400 hp turbo 4 with 48V mild hybrid for the base SL, we should find out next month.

  12. As much as I dislike white for being too dull and mainstream, I saw and sat in a white Challenger R/T Scat Pack in the dealer showroom a few years ago.. with a black shaker hood scoop, gloss black wheels, and a black interior w/ bright red seats and red door inserts. Love the red seats. And a manual..was fantastic.

  13. Nah, not going to drive like that for 15 miles... not when it's 90 degrees out...and the hatch open beeping would drive me nuts.

  16. Since awhile back we've talked about and seen 1980s two toned paint jobs. Those 3 Chevys (Bel Air maybe but def Caprices), I wonder if these iconic 1980s Chevys are considered two toned? And of course early C4 Corvettes that are NO question two toned. And this lovely Oldsmobile And the Cierra keeping the theme of the Supreme but more so from the Cavalier Z24 and early Z28s in that the bottom skirts are grey... Pontiac B Body was like the Chevy B Body Albeit these are from the 1970s And the Pontiac G Body followed suit But had an extra treat as the lower body lines also had the top colour I like this two toned treatment from Pontiac. The last two Pontiacs do have that shytty 1970s brown theme going on, this hue and application does look good!!!

  17. The Challenger looks good on 99% of the colour pallet Dodge has for it! Sometimes I want a Plum Crazy one. Sometimes I want that Go Mango Challneger I posted earlier with the two black racing stripes. Other times I want that same orange with an all black hood. Sublime Green with an all black hood is my go to for the Challenger, but that F8 Green looks awesome too right about now. Sometimes I just wanna sing the Blues with "my" Challenger. Other times I just wanna be like Johnny Cash with the Chally and be dressed all in black. Other times, Arrest Me Red does wonders for my soul if I owned a red Challenger!

  18. The Chevy SS colors I liked were the greens...I think they had 2-3 different greens over their short run. My favorite current Mopar performance car colors are F8 Green and Octane Red. Octane Red can look purplish in some light.

  19. On those Mopars, the purple looks like it belongs. On many others though, it just looks like a tacky aftermarket job (like on every “Uber” car out there). It doesn’t go with everything, much how red doesn’t belong on just any car. Just my personal taste. About the SS, you’re missing one color.

  20. I like Plum Crazy Mopars.

  21. Yes... Nothing accounts for that taste... Yes...Barney purple is not for everyone. Yet... There are plenty of FACTORY purple cars and SEVERAL customized wraps that people opted for over the years...

  23. mercedes can't do it, Tesla can't do it, GM won't do it, but lookit how it's done: That said, those yellow calipers against that barney purple paint is hideous.

  24. didn't mercedes drop a fuel injected I-6 to put an anemic carbureted 4-banger in their so-called 'sports car' back in the height of the muscle car horsepower wars? Maybe mercedes should put a turbo 4 in their AMGGT, you know; to increase sales. They could charge $29.9K, call it the AAMGGT.

  26. Well Maybachs are supposed to be one-offs. They’re sold as bespoke cars like Rolls and Bentley. You don’t buy one off the lot, you order to your exacting standards. 2 tone done perfectly

  31. The Porsche 718 has a turbo 4, the Supra has one, Alpine A110 in Europe, there are 4 cylinder sports cars. AMG has a 2.0 liter turbo 4 hybrid coming next year with 643 hp, I'd rather that that 4-cylinder than the 6.2 V8 making 495 hp in the Corvette. Now I know GM won't do it, they'll ride the pushrod V8 to 2030 when the ICE V8 dies.

  32. So these are supercars then. As they are both faster on a track than a Corvette. As is this ugly BMW
    -1 points
  33. But if the Corvette is a "super car" why is is slower on a race track than big, heavy sedans from BMW, Mercedes and Porsche? Why is it slower than an M4 for similar money that gives you a (small) backseat and is more practical and has all wheel drive for bad weather? Now on VIR, where GM sort of tunes their cars for that track, the C8 Z51 has a 2:49.0, the AMG GT63 sedan a 2:49.3 and the CT5 Blackwing a 2:49.5, but still, barely beating 2 sedans, albeit very fast sedans. And people here want to say the Corvette is a competitor to AMG GT, Ferrari, Lamborghini, but when the lap times go up and the Corvette is way slower, then people say, well the Corvette costs half as much so of course it doesn't have the performance of the Europeans, or the luxury of the Europeans. If the Corvette brand name is so strong, and they want to compete with the European heavyweights, then why not make the base Corvette say $125,000, the Z06 about $200,000 and the ZR1 $300,000. Go up there and play with the big boys.
