  3. Debates have raged over the name Electra with some saying it should never be used on an EV only ICE while others have said it is the perfect name for launching a Buick EV global push. GM today seems to agree as they have filed to patent the name Electra in both Canada and the US. Based on GM's Ultium Platform of battery and engines, Buick looks to kick off their EV transition with a 4 door AWD SUV. Leveraging stat-of-the-art technology, Buick plans to move forward with moving to a zero emissions portfolio. Combining the athletic look of a four-seat crossover with Gran Turismo aesthetics, the Electra previews the 21st century design language for the EV generation. The Electra has a clean, minimalist styling inspired by a space capsule. The evolving sculptural beauty is distinguished by a spacious glass interior pod that is part of an aerodynamic wing-form bodyshell and riding on 23" wheels that feature an optimal design, to enhance aerodynamics while contributing to the futuristic look of the Electra. Front and rear Matrix LED lamps features parametrical mathematic lighting strings with a three-dimensional effect. This compliments a full LED-illuminated grille and rear screen nameplate to provide dramatic digital lighting interaction. The Electra butterfly wing doors support facial recognition and provide a robust opening for convenient access. The Buick Electra takes advantage of the all new Ultium platform with what is being called a Zero-Gravity environment. This lack of traditional A/B pillars results in a maximum extension of the cabin with a longer wheelbase, a more efficient package and a more spacious, open interior. Buick offers an intuitive and immersive user experience that rewards all the senses by starting with Buick's next-generation eConnect system using a large industry-leading freeform curved retina display. This system like all GM systems will get OTA or over the air updates that provides on-demand driving information, advanced driver assistant systems via the infotainment. Augmented reality-enhanced head-up display with advanced live-view navigation of roads. A 410-mile range via the Ultium battery pack with 583 HP allowing a 0 to 60 acceleration in 4.3 seconds. 4. Totally disagree, the future is electric and the best way to start the transition to electric auto's is with a name that truly embraces this and that is the Buick Electra EV SUV. This has always made sense and totally makes sense here. CES 2022 my gut tells me we will see more of this roadmap show up and I for one am excited by having an AWD Buick Electra EV.

  5. Even if an M5 CS is a tick quicker, it's a poorer performer overall, the reviews are numerous and glowing on the BlackWing vs the competition. See the video review on the interior; I think your assessment is vastly detached from reality. Reviewers are flat out giddy driving the CT5-V BlackWing.

  6. If you think that's just Ford dealerships, you're wickedly blind. Also, from that article, the customer never asked for help on the vehicle, they just waited for somebody to magically tell them things. That part was on the customer, IMO. The whole contract situation was on the dealership. "At this time we sat waiting for at least two hours, I was hoping during this time someone would come to show me the specs of the car that I was in the process of buying so that once the deal was signed, I would actually be informed about the details of the car I was purchasing, but no one came."

  7. I remind folks that Buick also trademarked 'Invicta' around 2002- and nothing came of that trademark. There's no way to support a full catalog of 'electricity' names, so there's no reason to start with an 'Electra' nameplate.

  8. Most BMW X7s in my area are far cheaper than Escalades are. Escalade ESV tops out into the $120+K range, and I see numerous (non-ESV) E's over 105K in my area, but only one X7 over $90K (out of 9). Cadillac's ATP has been higher than BMW's for years now, they've moved past that tired brand. Model S is 4" longer than a CT5, but like I say- there's far too much overlap in vehicle size vs. price tier. Model S is really short for a full-size sedan. The CT4 is a better car in the same price range as the A-class mercedes, which obviously is built to bargain basement FWD pricing. CT4 & CT5 are excellent cars, and the BlackWings are the best performance sedans built today.

  9. Screams Used Car Hell of Manipulation much like a Ford Dealership which I hate and have avoided all my life just about. Hate that pushy, lie to sell a used auto when they do not know anything. Both those places I would never recommend a person to buy from unless they are just idiots themselves and then maybe it is a good fit after all. LOL

  10. Probably 50% of Cadillac sales are Escalades, it has to be a huge percentage to have an average that high. If Cadillac killed the CT4, CT5, XT5, XT5, and XT6, their ATP would be $100k, but all their dealers would probably go out of business. ATP only matters in in-segment comparisons. I actually thought Mercedes had a high ATP given that their supply chain cuts were to V8 models aside from the S-class, so they did $75k with their 4 and 6 cylinder cars. Agree though that Cadillac needs more upmarket stuff. When they do these electric SUVs, they should have V-series on all, and they should have 3 SUVs that can do the Nurburgring under 8 minutes. And they should also have a “Brougham” trim or whatever they want their Denali to be called, and that should be their Maybach or Bentley fighter. I think Cadillac is afraid to go up there in price because they don’t think it will sell, but you don’t know unless you try.

  11. I got the visual!!! Imagine trying to clean out the outside air of a city's downtown core? How long would a HEPA filter last by cleaning out the air for everybody? What about the surfaces? The air might be clean but are the surfaces clean as well? Does a HEPA air filter system clean the surfaces. Surely no bacteria lives on surfaces that we touch in our cars. The dashboard, the steering wheel, the seats we sit our asses on... So much wrong with a marketing campaign focusing on a HEPA air filter system in a damned car. A car???!!! Perhaps one of THE most dirtiest things we touch on a daily basis due to the fact that we dont wash our hands nearly half as much as we should, even during COVID times, eating and having crumbs and coffee spill and sauce from Big Macs fall, or slush during winter, driving around in cities where smog exists and a car is not hermetically sealed. Like not even 1% hermetically sealed... Leave it to the Mercedes fanboi to toot toot toot such a useless marketing bullshyting campaign...

  12. So it's actually about $5,000 cheaper than a Model S. Well, I guess Tesla's cheapest Model S currently has a purchase price of $94,990 so more like $17,000 cheaper. It looks like there is no 2WD Model S anymore, or at least for the time-being. Can you imagine rolling around with the windows down or the sunroof open?!? THEY'D BE CLEANING THE AIR FOR EVERYBODY!!!

  13. Once you open the door or window and...POOF! There goes the hospital operating room quality air on the inside...

  14. Literally nobody gives a fck about this. Also, this doesn't take up anywhere near the entire frunk area.

  15. The EQS has a HEPA filter in the front. The EQS has hospital operating room quality air on the inside, which other cars do not.
    1 point
  16. Absolutely, isn't one of the biggest perks of going EV to save quite a bit of space which can (should) be used as a frunk? Or, at least repurpose the hood/frunk area for something else. An EV without a frunk just doesn't make sense to me, unless the vehicle is pretty small. That's where I give the Bolt a pass (and other compact vehicles). It's a small enough vehicle that packaging still dictates that space is needed for powertrain components. If freakin' FORD can make a frunk on a Mach-E, then Mercedes should be able to make a frunk on an S Class-sized vehicle.
    1 point
  17. Exactly. All the effort they put into the interior design should have been dedicated to that low rent looking exterior and maybe add a frunk while you’re at it. That is not the “best or nothing”.

  18. Has Mercedes made an EV worth a damn yet? I mean, the EQS isn't a bad vehicle, it just looks like complete crap. Why somebody would consciously choose a vehicle that looks as jellybean as that vehicle is beyond me.
    1 point
  19. Taking the “comparing apples to gas powered oranges” to a whole other level I see? Face it. The EQS is a huge let down and you’ve have been pedaling endless excuses for it by pointing out the perceived (and easily debunked) flaws of everyone else. Classic deflection.
