  1. Mercedes could just simply resurrect the ML-Class as BEV only. A LOT easier to pronounce and shorter too.
  2. Just remember that Carlos Ghosn was an autocrat with no succession plan. This is why Nissan is a SNAFU.
  3. WOW. When can these new batteries go into our cars and smartphones and tablets and laptops?!
  4. No reason to buy a Spark when an Encore will do better and be better too for your dollar.
  5. Or you can buy a real pickup truck with a standard or long bed.
  6. Google's actions need to speak a lot louder than their assurances.
  7. In any case, all automakers use August to clear inventory to make room for the new cars heading to dealer lots. No need for any of us to concern ourselves.
  8. I just hope that Google does NOT use this software to access all sorts of things that can defeat any semblance of privacy.
  9. The Infiniti version will NOT save Infiniti from being ignored in the luxury marketplace. As for the Armada, I doubt it could take down a Tahoe/Yukon.
  10. Like they haven't already. . .
  11. Yes it should. If Honda was really ambitious, they would put that technology (BEV and all) into a CR-V.
  12. OK that is nice. Where is the demand for a Jeep with a diesel engine coming from again? Ten years ago I could see it, but not now.
  13. At least Cadillac resolved the emissions issue on the CT6-V. I do hope that at least another 5000 are made and released to the public.
  14. Send all the FIAT cars to India. We still do not need them in the USA.
  15. Apparently no one at FCA understood that the USA hates small cars in general and city cars in particular. FIAT and MINI are a total waste of resources that could go straight into better non-FIAT FCA products and BMW respectively. Good riddance.
  16. It is easy to forget this but the XTS is really the last of the FWD Devilles that came out originally back in the 1980s. Some people actually like and bought the FWD XTS/DTS/Deville for the better part of 30 years. Now, the CT6 is a far superior car period. I doubt that anyone will really miss the XTS once it is out of production.
  17. Certainly true. Then again, VW is a perfect case of truly rotten management, poor leadership and shoddy thinking led to these multiple scandals. New leadership is required to clean up these messes.
  18. The real issue is whether automakers will actually pass on the savings from ICE to EV towards consumers via lower prices. I suspect they will not do so unless forced by new entrants into the marketplace. . . . or an existing automaker wants to start a price war.
  19. So when will GM build their own hot hatch crossover? GM could use an Escalade as the base for one, maybe even a Camaro as the base for one.
  20. Both would be very bad. The Escalade looking like a scaled-up XT6 would be horrifying. The Cadillac XTs should actually look more like the Escalade, not the other way around. If I needed seven seats, I would take a Buick Enclave Avenir over the XT6 any day of the week. I would take an XT5 over an Envision however, just for the extra passenger space for five.
  21. That photoshopped front end WILL NOT be part of the new Escalade for one reason: it does not fit the Escalade brand. It is one thing for the XT4/XT5/XT6 to have a face like that. But an Escalade deserves a face that matches its presence.
  22. Maybe automakers need their own strategy against Chinese favoritism and mercantilism. Few others really have such a strategy.
  23. Would you rather have an Acadia Denali?
  24. Maybe Mercedes should have done what Cadillac did with the XT5: ditch the third row entirely for trunk space. Those third-row seats should be used for storage, not passengers.
  25. Sometimes I wonder if GM wants to succeed or not. If I were running GM, the first thing I would do is dramatically simplify the range of vehicles to the point where there is only ONE trim level per vehicle and price that vehicle very aggressively. Example: take a Chevy Equinox. Make it a fully-loaded Premier trim level ONLY and price it about $5000 below current prices. NO base model and no LT trim levels anymore. Rinse and repeat throughout the Chevy CAR line (not the pickup trucks or BOF SUVs!). Of course this will exclude the Corvette since that is the value leader of its segment. I believe that this will pull buyers to GM and push them away from Hyundai/KIA as well as Toyota and Honda. Your thoughts?
