    Hummer as an EV brand is a nice rebrand for a brand that trolled and angered environmentalists for almost 15 years. Will GM be smart enough to make Electra the car/CUV EV brand?!

    50 years? I can accept 30 years or so, but sedans were easier to differentiate in the 70s than the 80s and easier in the 80s than the 90s and so on and so on.

    DSGs used to be fairly common in Audis and other VW cars a few years back. I wonder if VW Group still uses DSGs rather than CVTs.

    Maybe CVTs are cheaper to build and maintain than a 8-speed or 10-speed traditional automatic. That does NOT mean the CVT is a good idea.

    I am not sure that India's drivers can afford an Equinox, let alone any EV these days.

    Nice to see that all GM brands are up for the last quarter. Best news from GM I have heard since the UAW called a strike against GM.

    It would be a lot easier and better if customers would order the Corvette of their choice and have it delivered to their nearest Chevy dealer.

    Why would anyone subscribe a car when leasing has been proven for at least the past three decades?

    Too bad Hyundai/KIA offered a ten-year warranty in 2001 and still have it to this day. Too bad GM and Ford did not try to come close to matching that. Hyundai came a long way from the late 80s and the 90s, where it made no sense to buy anything they were selling. There are very few Hyundais and KIAs from before 2001 on the road these days, mostly because of awful sales. As for Toyota, there is no compelling reason to buy one of those vehicles anymore that you cannot get from another automaker at either a better value or with more/better features in most cases. In the next global recession, China will probably find a way to buy out the weaker auto nameplates for pennies on the dollar and do what they please, either in the CDM or worldwide. China is the the world's biggest car market now.

    Yes, Toyota and Hyundai/KIA do copy others in terms of CARS and markets. They did not copy the bad ideas, such as slavish worship of the bottom line and really antagonistic unions (SK aside). Arguably, Toyota may have the best of both worlds these days from a financial standpoint. If originality made the kind of cash flow that is heavily desired, Toyota would be in serious trouble. Then again, Toyota has big market share and a lot of loyal customers since 1978 who will NEVER buy a GM or Ford vehicle again. Toyota now is what Chevrolet was in 1970: the default choice of (nowadays) FWD appliances. Especially in this era of leasing dominating the marketplace and 72 month financing, Toyota is in an enviable position and it will probably stay that way for a long time to come. As for China, China could still buy out a lot of weak automakers when the next recession hits and still clean house since that government has huge ambitions and nearly unlimited resources to do just that.

    Actually, China may be more likely to buy out all these lame brands and possibly clean house just to rationalize the auto industry AND devour all that auto IP without violating any laws or treaties. Toyota, not so much. Toyota actually has to listen to shareholders.

    Sovereignty over all else is essentially the cry for Brexit. Nobody said it was a great idea. A lot of problems will show up post-Brexit, from economic calamities all the way to the breakup of the United Kingdom. Good luck Boris!

    At least Maserati is staying on-brand. Cannot say that about any German automaker (especially BMW/MB/Audi).

    Exactly. GM could use some extra green and the market could use a new EV competitor with its own plant.

    Oh well, no harm no foul. Cadillac needs better leadership anyways. Let JDN collect his checks at VW.

    I still have no idea why Toyota and Nissan insist on competing in a segment where they get few if any real conquest sales. At least Ford and GM know where their bread is buttered.

    So when will GM smarten up and replace the strikers? I am sure there are a lot of replacement workers who will be glad to work assembling GM vehicles for $15-17 an hour.

    That could be a low cost EV Rogue if Nissan wanted to do that.

    Better seats were in the Escalade five years ago versus right now? I hope that the 2021 Escalade (and all Cadillac vehicles) radically step up in the seat game.
