    The Avalanche could do 21 - 22 on the highway back with a 6-speed, so I imagine a fairly basic Silverado 1500 V8 could do at least that and probably better. I probably should have clarified that the Silverado/Sierra in question was a hybrid. And it was the second-generation of GM's hybrid tech (they actually kicked things off with a mild hybrid version of the truck previous to that one). Point being: making a 5500-pound Escalade meet CAFE standards is going to be difficult, but quite doable. Ohhhhhh that does make more sense.. Didn't they have hybrid Tahoes also? I assume people just werent buying them because it seems like a great way to be able to keep massive vehicles around when the regulations get really strict. Supposedly Ford is working on a hybrid powertrain for their F150.. The Hybrid Tahoe, Yukon and Escalade are loved by those that own them and hard to find on the used market. GM FAILED to market them. It was great to have an AWD with 22mpg. Having driven them they are so quiet up to 35MPH and then the engine kicks in and it still is awesome to drive. GM needs to revisit it or beef up the VOLT system to use it in the full size SUV's.

    Sad that they did not capitalize on the car scene from Fast and Furious 2. They could have so grown and kicked ass if they did not ignore the trends of youth.

    This is sad as it sounds like he is desperate to find a partner knowing FCA has limited time before Bankruptcy happens. Gut tells me an ugly change will happen in the next 12-18 months with FCA.

    Some will say I am nuts, there is always room for more auto makers, but I see a glut still in the autoworld and especially with manufacturing. There are auto lines that had their day and it is time for them to go into the sunset of being in the history books. FIAT is one of many auto lines that just needs to die, but for the Union hard Italy, they will be hard to close down as they are debt loaded and the unions will protest to the govs to save there jobs even though the best thing would be for them to shutdown. Best thing FCA could do is not spend the billions they have stated on failed badges that have no market share and do not need to come back.Alfa Romeo is a perfect example. I know we have threads on their concepts but this horse is ready for the glue factory and the concepts put into viable product lines where the cost can be spread over various other products also. I see the points Casa makes about merging with GM, but I think GM would pass on this and as I have stated here over the last few years, makes more sense for GMC to have a Jeep competitor by using the Hummer as a package that goes on existing products. You want a Wangler, then GMC H4, you want a ram competitor to their power wagon, then GMC pickup with a Hummer package. They could really market and make extra money off of having packages that give the hummer capabilities to the GMC products. Who ever even the Koreans if they merged with FCA would do wise to kill off week products and merge the best products into a single line. I could actually see Hyundia taking over FCA, killing the stupid Fiat line, Alfa Romeo line and then merging the few best products from Dodge / Chrysler into one family name line. I love the 300 but have to say that I think the company is long in the tooth and lost their identity after so many failed marriages. Hyundai, Dodge, Ram, Jeep, Maserati, and after an assessment maybe flip other dealers in other markets to select brands only. It could be done but the closure of manufacturing and the loss of money bleeding fiat would cause riots in Italy and europe even though it makes business sense. I doubt any company has the guts to do the right thing in a merger and clean house the way it needs to be done.

    When was the last time any of you actually test drow a G Wagon? I did this year and the SUV sucks. Noisy, rattles, poor fit and finish. MB should have ignored the people saying to keep it and killed it off and then came back with a quality job 1 SUV.

    So back to the original story, FCA is holding up new product to in essence increase on hand cash to appear more attractive to some buyer for a merge. Why would this not be a good thing for KIA or Hyundia to consider? Would give them a large portfolio and grow them much faster than trying to build their own products.

    Amazing how many IDIOTS want to Persecute GM and yet Toyota got a slap on the wrist with a fine for their Crap sticky gas pedals which was mostly user error and lack of end users keeping the floor mats in place. Such Lazy IDIOTS reminds me of the MB ML450 statements about their transmission and how an end user said they did not know that if they just turned off the auto it would not go into park by itself but into neutral. Driving is a privilege and you earn the right to do it and most of the deaths were not due to the ignition switch but due to poor choices those people made like HyperV6 stated.

    H'mm I have to say that I find this truck Ugly! Ram has lost me with the ugly grill, look, etc. I do like the technical package they have but would pass on the truck from a look standpoint. GMC is better looking than this.

    No... it's lazily retro.... Mercedes has left it to age like an old gym sock tossed on the side of the street yet... they're sales have been on the rise the past 10 years.. Remember, it is built based on militaty vehicles(it's original intent). They're very badass vehicles off road and there are very few vehlicles that could touch it off road, let alone with heated and cooled seats. Throw in the AMG version and you'll also be able to out run some pretty tough cars at the drag strip as well. I get a superior ride in the Escalade which has the heated and cooled seats before MB ever did them plus it goes off road just fine and you want performance, then just add the GM Supercharger performance kit and you have a V edition of the escalade. Yet even without it, I have not seen sales slow down for the escalade. You're comparing two completely different vehicles. The GL and Escalade compete. Escalade off road? That's a joke right? The front diffuser is like 6 inches off the ground. Yes you could take things off and lift things and add lockers and all sorts of jazz if you're going to go that route. The G has that all already. You don't need to "add a supercharger" or "take off the front diffuser". That is what makes the G what it is. It doesn't really make sense. Escalade has far more than 6 inches of ground clearance and you do not get an AMG G wagon by default. So as an owner of a Platinum Escalade ESV that does go off-road and handles just fine if I want to compete with the G Wagon AMG version I could add the Supercharge Performance package GM has and have what in essence would be a V edition and kick the AMG butt.

    In building teaching material or a course, the mgr should be supplying a list of Learning objectives garnered from the stakeholders, not asking the development team to figure them out and build an outline for the new course from it. Why do some people seem incapable of such common sense!

    I have to totally disagree with you. The conti is a Fat Pig with a big barrel belly, very traditional Obese American car. The CT6 realized it needs to compete in more than just america and has gone on a workout to be more competitive. It has an Athletes defined body with lines. If you want a Lazy Boy Jelly Bean, then fine go for your Cont, I would rather have a Thoroughbred which is the CT6.

    So MSN hosted Car & Drivers Truck Rankings from Worst to Best and I find much the information as expected but have to question their #1 Truck. http://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/autos-trucks/every-full-size-truck-ranked-from-worst-to-first/ss-BBkumMw?ocid=UP94DHP#image=1 When they even state that the Porky F150 now is close to competing with the Silverado on weight, does an Aluminum body really qualify it as the #1 best truck in comparison to the Chevy or GMC? Read the Rankings and stated info, then state your own judgement and let the public decide if this is right!

Better yet, FBI, SEC and IRS arrested your hellish old boss and closed the books on your company. Bad news, You still have to figure out how to get the rug from the truck trapped in the tunnel between Washington and Michigan.

    Ram would do well to ignore the mid size market and go with compact. The compact market is just waiting to explode with solid high mileage trucks. Perfect example is the Chevy Luv / Isuzu Pup trucks with diesel and they did outstanding on gas mileage and met most suburban and inner city owners needs. Not everything needs to be Crewcab size. I truly believe they could rule the compact market by taking the Cherokee platform or the Wrangler and build a compact truck that would be very successful. Ford left their compact ranger to rot and yet still sold a ton of them showing a market for a compact truck does exist. America could get their butts kicked if China brings in a cheap Compact truck that does what most inner city and suburban people want. bed capacity of 1000lbs, towing of 2000lbs and no more. 1982 Chevy Luv Diesel was 30 City/ 36 highway. http://www.aboutautomobile.com/Fuel/1982/Chevrolet/LUV Just think how a compact truck with a modern diesel or CNG engine would rock in the High 30's low 40's or better.

    AWD with the proper tire combo for the weather I would take over any FWD or RWD. Just love the extra grip and pull of AWD.

    Good News: The company asks you to review all the fired boss info with the FBI, SEC and IRS to help clean up the mess you inherited and they are giving you a bonus for cleaning up a dark moment for the company. Bad News: Your future mother in laws Persian rug is a total loss. Nothing like blending two stories into one!
