  1. CNBC just posted this story that looks at facts gathered from quality studies and came to the conclusion that while Japan is not getting worse parse, they have fallen behind the competition in consumer surveys. Seems Toyota, Honda, Mitsubishi and Subaru are not keeping pace with the industry and Korea has surpased them. According to the report, the average world wide is a 3% improvement in product quality. Japan has had a zero improvement rate for the last few years where as Korea had an 11% product quality improvement over last year leading the over all industry. Interesting is that Ford and Lincoln are mentioned for cutting the number of problems only and GM and Buick not only cut problems further but placed vehicles in the top 11 brands and for the past year showed fewer than 100 problems per 100 auto's built leading the industry. The story goes on to say this will have many ask if Japan has lost the considered GOLD standard of auto reliability. The final comment is that Japan is struggling in dealing with infotainment systems and voice recognition as 16 of the bottom 20 models are all from Japan and have their core problems rooted in the Infotainment / nav / voice recognition systems. 2. Agree that a Black CTS Wagon would make an awesome Deceptacon! We'll to each their own as I enjoyed all the transformer movies. Like a calgon bath take me away to fairy land.
  3. Exactly. Smaller displacement would be more welcome in other markets. There could be substitutions. The ATS-V, for instance, could have had a V8.. excuse the pun. Cadillac wants their own engine family.. thus it got the TTV6. As a future CTS-V Gen3 owner, I'm actually wondering if they are gonna come in year two with a TTV8 Actually, I've been told there was another reason for going with the TTV6 and it is entirely technical. Once I post my ATS-V story you'll see why. Did I miss this or have you not had time to post the story yet? Very excited to read what you have to say about the ATS-V with the TTV6 engine.
  4. So now that I have gone over the details, I really do have to question why would you want the under torqued V6? The Turbo 4 to me is a superior engine and if I wanted max performance, then the V8 is a no brainer.
  5. I see GM Media posted this with more details on the 2016 Camaro's Powertrain lineup. 2016 Camaro Powertrain lineup! Quoting from the posted news release: Ecotec 2.0L turbo details The Camaro LT’s standard engine is a new Ecotec 2.0L turbocharged I-4, rated at an SAE-certified 275 horsepower (205 kW) and 295 lb-ft of torque (400 Nm). For impressive power on demand, it offers a wide torque band with 90 percent of its peak torque available from 2,100 rpm to 3,000 rpm, and maximum torque from 3,000 to 4,500 rpm. All-new 3.6L V-6 The new 3.6L V-6 ,available in the Camaro LT, offers the highest specific output for a naturally aspirated V-6, producing an SAE-certified 335 horsepower (250 kW) and 284 lb-ft of torque (385 Nm). It’s an all-new design that represents the fourth generation of GM’s DOHC V-6 engine family and incorporates new features, including Active Fuel Management. Return of the LT1 The 2016 Camaro SS is powered by the Small Block 6.2L LT1 V-8 engine, with output SAE-certified at 455 horsepower (339 kW) and 455 lb-ft of torque (617 Nm), making it the most powerful Camaro SS ever. Its use in the sixth generation marks the third time the LT1 moniker has been bestowed on a Camaro Small Block V-8 engine, with previous iterations used in the 1970-72 Z28, 1993-97 Z28 and 1996-97 SS. New Hydra-Matic eight-speed automatic transmissions All 2016 Camaro models are offered with new, Hydra-Matic 8L45 and 8L90 paddle-shift eight-speed automatic transmissions. The 8L45 is available with the Ecotec 2.0L turbo and 3.6L V-6 engines on LT models, and the 8L90 is available with the LT1 V-8 on the Camaro SS. The very cool part is the extensive engine features they list out for each motor. Check it out. This is a cool line up!

  7. G. David Felt Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.CheersandGears.com News Reports GM to Announce Secondary Use of VOLT Battery's! According to the wall street journal, yesterday GM was set to announce a secondary use for the VOLT batteries. According to the story, the 17 kWh battery that GM builds for the VOLT has a cost between $5,100 to $8,500 dollars. According to GM Media, the First generation batteries are now to be used in a second life from helping to keep the lights on and equipment running in IT data centers to bat houses and Duck nesting box's for endangered species. According to GM, the first generation VOLT battery at the end of it's useful life still actually holds over 80% of it's original storage capacity. As such GM has put together commercial and non-commercial use of these battery systems with and without wind turbines to generate enough power to keep buildings up and running for 4 hrs or when not needed return to the electric grid renewable power. The reuse of the VOLT batteries has allowed the GM Data Center administration building to get the LEED Gold Certification from the US Green Building Council. 9. Life will have it's ups and downs, but life is always worth living for as there is so much to learn, see and do in life that even the worst day is still a great day to be alive in this awesome world we live in! Hang in there, things will always get better.
  10. The cost should have been in a auto line that could justify the cost.
  11. Do you think the canceling of the Hybrid is also a realization that in the low end line of auto's people have been driven out of car shopping by the outrageous cost of auto's today. The Civic line probably does not need a Hybrid or CNG. Those should have been in the Accord line.
  12. I totally agree with Cmicasa on his take on this FAILURE of Jag!
  13. Sad for the death of the CNG Civic as those that own them love them. But GM, Ford and Dodge / Ram are expanding so just more options from others. I have to question Honda Executives on this as I really doubt about some of their changes recently.
  14. The last line is what auto companies should all live by, they have to stay Fresh! You do not go 7 or 10 years on the same body / style / technology.
  15. Exciting, this could cause VW to actually finally change and bring new everything to the table. Be interesting to watch unfold and how long to incorporate all the changes.
  16. I can one-up you. Why do people who are already doing that in the rain... slow down further when they enter a tunnel? The tunnel is 55mph speed limit, they're doing 40 in the rain, and then slow down more when there is no rain!! Let's take this to the final point of not only in a tunnel, but the auto in front of them gets over and the person breaks slowing even further. I just do not get these people!
  17. Personally an ugly car and a waste of resources. FCA needs to stop wasting money on trying to revive this dead brand and focus the billions on proper R&D for their core brands that need it. The recalls for sucky 9 spd transmissions to gas tank issues, etc. Right now FCA is failing all their established brands and wasting billions on Alfa Romeo is wrong. Should have left this in the history books and move forward with the other brands.
  18. Smart cars are fine for local driving and inner city commuting, but longer suburban to city commuting I would get something safer. While the car shows the over all cage stays in tack, there is plenty of evidence that shows the cage survives but the human body cannot. 60 mph and you will still have serious injuries in that car. To me human life is worth more than the MPG of a car like the Smart cars and all overs that are this small.
  19. Wrap or Lay is the question........ I mean Spray! Guess I would Spray, never been one to wrap it, but I like the depth that you can get with paint that wraps cannot do. Plus wraps are just to commercial even though I understand it can be very custom, but for me give me some serious depth on a good paint job covered in Clear Coat and I am there.
  20. Teslas own web site says it will compete against the Luxury SUV makers in price. So expect a stripped down model to start around $75,000 and go up to over $100,000
  21. Very Cool, I have seen some amazing MPG numbers for the Duramax engine and with a proper coder you can have your power one day for racing and economy the next. The engine really seems to work for various functions all by just changing the mapping of the chip.
  22. Call me less than impressed. Is the new 7 series nice looking yes, but like others have stated very much a larger version of the 3 series. For the kind of money they are asking for I expect better. Interior is where I am dumb founded. How can you say this is anything but a failure. Bland straight dash with an after thought screen screwed into the center of the dash. The 1980's console was more a driving center in the 7 series then than this is now. Interior from the first 7 series in the 80's 2016 7 series interior
