Back again...GS style this time
G. David Felt replied to caddycruiser's topic in Member's Rides Showcase
Depends on which type of Track your going to run your XTS. Wish I'd had the time to shoot a pic..saw an XTS 'senior style' today--pearl white, cream padded top, gold trim, wide whitewall tires, chrome wheels... I will never understand that fake padded top. Why destroy the looks of a great car that way. What a shame. -
You can buy that beauty for me please!

Very cool indeed. What an era of growing up care free, running around and not having to worry about pedo monsters or any of the modern day crap going on.

Wow, old place that would need to be gutted and then remodeled. Seems really disjointed. Truly an east coast or southern style of home compared to the Northwest. Now this is what I call a House. Love living on the water here. http://www.johnlscott.com/propertydetail.aspx?IS=1&ListingID=301221020 Or this modern home http://www.johnlscott.com/propertydetail.aspx?IS=1&ListingID=301464879 Or more down to earth http://www.johnlscott.com/propertydetail.aspx?IS=1&ListingID=301439004

Sad about dealerships that end up dying due to not investing in the long term. You bringing up the Yugo sign reminds me that my caddy dealership that was a Caddy, Volvo, Buick, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Saturn, Hummer, Isuzu and Suzuki dealership all in one mega large place is sadly just a Caddy dealership now, but still has all the other signs up on windows, their big sign on the road, etc. The original owner retired and left the dealership to his two kids. One took Volvo and moved out to be on his own and left the other kid with the old mega dealership. Course, they gave up Suzuki a year ago as it did not look good having them on the lot next to Caddy, but I do wonder if GM did not push them out. Just wish he would remodel and remove all the old stuff and sprouce up the caddy dealership. Great folks working there, just needs a boost of Modernization as the place is clearly dated from the 60-70's area.

Is this as good a deal as I think it is for a new GMC Sierra?
G. David Felt replied to ShadowDog's topic in The Lounge
Congrates on the New Truck, it really is a beauty. I am a big fan of chrome only on the wheels as I like the body for the most part to be monochromatic. So to me this truck is drop dead beautiful. Very hot ride. What is the actual color? Gun metal Grey, Steel Grey, Steel blue? Kinda hard to make out on my monitor. Way to rock it! -
Or just Old.

Industry News: Suzuki Vehicles Bid Adieu, Files Chapter 11
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
A shame the pride of the japanease keeps them from realizing that a bunch of little companies no longer works in todays global economy. Mistubishi will be next followed by Mazda I believe. In retrospect, they should have realized over the great 2nd Depression of the US from 2007 till now that the best way to survive was to merge. Mistubishi, Suzuki, and Mazda. Great portfoloio of product that would of been a more complete selling option. Think of the Name MistSuDa or MSM Could have been the Joint new name. How about buying a MistSuDa 5 or a MistSuDa Kizashi. RIP to these guys whos ego was as big as the world but in reality smaller than a tick.- 12 replies

Should GM build a "Premium" version of the LT1 for Cadillac?
G. David Felt replied to dwightlooi's topic in Cadillac
Actually, the CTS-V V8 is quite suitable for a flagship -- if it is fitted with the appropriate exhaust system that does not make a lot of noise. The LSA is a smooth and tractable engine with a 6100 rpm redline. The M3 V8 on the otherhand is not suitable because it is an edgy, high strung engine that needs to be wound out to 8300 rpm to deliver its goods. You can quiet both engines down with an exhaust system appropriate for a luxury saloon, you cannot make an edgy 8300 rpm engine appropriate for an S-class. Correct, there are many noise canceling exhaust systems that would allow the CTS-V V8 to be in a world class ultra luxury sedan that would not only compete but beat the MB S class and BMW 7 or 8 class. -

Jet makes some great performance upgrade chips. Just have to supply what upgrades you have done to the engine. If not, they have a superior no limit chip you can buy and install. -
Cadillac News: Cadillac ELR To Begin Production In Late 2013
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
But at the same time, what have they done? And it is hard to sell a pricey car on just interior without any performance. Unless they are doing a Rolls Phantom level interior and selling that for $60k, I just can't see this car selling. Cadillac is wasting money and resources that could go to a RWD flagship sedan or a true sports car, or a RWD mid size SUV. I totally disagree, here in Seattle as in Portland, the Hybrid and electric luxury auto's seem to sell well as I see a ton of them every day and I cannot wait for Caddy to get into this segment. The new Money being in High Tech seems to also go with the green movement. -
Saw a GTO Orange Goat at the old car show this weekend. It was really purtty! Saw a super clean 96 Suburban on stupid 30 inch rims. Over all loved the Suburban, just hated the rims/tires the person had on it. Was California license plated.

Probably tired of paying for the premium fuel. I always find it interesting how people complain about premium fuel when they bought a performance auto for that reason.

Toyota News: Rumorpile: Toyota To Change Design Of Next Prius?
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Toyota
I doubt we will ever see any radical changes. Toyota has talked about radical changes in the past and what they see as radical is just a liberal ultra conservative design. Course their current ugly Predator style for Lexus might to some be considered radical when it is just down right ugly. Course if they go radical, would they not possibly end up loosing some MPG which is what the Prius is all about?- 6 replies

Hate the front end design, the Wings and slant headlights if freakin ugly. Love the color though. I agree with the I Spy a small CUV. Sadly the shape seems to imply a small mini van not a true CUV, but then more small CUV's seem to be going the 7 passenger micro mini van route. If it has the same ugly nose on it then it will not be that great.

How out of Touch is this guy with Reality of the Buying Public. Dude, step back away from the Company CoolAid and get a reality check of the buyers out there. Your image is of old dying people in floating 80's era auto's. Your message is not right for todays fluent buyers of luxury auto's.

Wow, I think that is a fantastic idea! 'Wanna go fast? Here's how/where you do it correctly.' I think any performance auto especially once you go above the subcompact or compact market needs to have a 1 or 2 day training class on how to best handle your performance auto. I think this will build more responsibility into the users. Start off with a video on crashes and the ugly truth of how speed can kill in inexperienced hands and then move on to how fun it can be with the right training. There is no reason the US cannot have our own unlimited Autobahn here. I90, I5, I10, I25, I70, I30, I45, I95, I75, I79, I80 and I81 to name a few. If we required a true $3000 driving school that includes the basics of high speed driving and how to handle spinnouts, recovery, skids, etc. We would have far better drivers on the roads. Also, Driving is a privilege you earn, not a right. As such, if you cannot handle the stress of driving at posted speed limits, then off the road you go and enjoy the side roads or mass transit. The freeways are from getting from Point A to Point B as fast as possible. No one should be allowed on a major freeway doing 45 in the far left lane or even the carpool lanes.

Awesome job, that is a HOT LOOKING car. While I understand the cost, I have to say that every car I have owned I have put on the 3M clear front end protection and I highly recommend it as it just makes the auto's stay that much cleaner and nicer. The worst thing I can imagine is having a lovely auto like yours having the road nicks and mess on the front end. Lets at least agree that our nations roads are a mess and with the aerodynamics today, auto's do seem to get their lovely paint jobs messed up with out better protection. -
Should GM build a "Premium" version of the LT1 for Cadillac?
G. David Felt replied to dwightlooi's topic in Cadillac
Don't forget what top engine does the S class has.It is a twin turbo v12. So this supercharged v8 (if cadilac flagship will go against s class) must not be noisier (no supercharger whine in cabin) than the engine in the S class,Or at least is must not be heard in a cabin .Actually NVH should be on same level. Why do you and so many others think everything has to go against and be equal to the S class. I have not been that impressed myself with the over all quality of Mercedes. I think right now both MB and BMW have over bloated images. It proves in the JD quality reports and so many times in the real world, not the auto motive blind journalism. I would be more focused on what high end customers really want than to say MB or BMW is our check list. Are we equal to or better than them? Use a customer input list and build to what the customer wants, if it really ends up being equal to MB or BMW, then so be it, but at least then GM is building to the customer. Once built, then compare and see how you stack up. Totally agree, people who are buying the AMG, M series or V series are wanting the performance rumble. They do not want these cars to be quiet non noticable cars. -
Sun roofs are nice but would not miss it, I like my head room more. But then GM Dealers seem to think if an auto has a sunroof everyone wants one and i have never found them without. Perfect example is I have plenty of room for sitting up straight the way I like in my 2006 Escalade ESV, but the new Escalades I have to be reclined as they do not have the interior room and even in the rare escalade I found with no sun roof, I still could not sit up straight. Yes I did make sure the seat was all the way down, but GM seems to have stopped allowing to the floor sitting position so us really tall guys are pretty much out of luck on the current generation of SUV's.

It also has two cables. Minus the weird rust, it is pretty sturdy. In review of this online, while it is very sturdy, it is a common issue in areas of high use of Salt on the roads. Bummer, sorry to hear this happened. Hang in there as the auto will treat you well.
