Hate to come back to the forum like this
G. David Felt replied to the_yellow_dart's topic in The Lounge
WOW, I feel for you as this just stinks of people not wanting to be accountable. Everyone is trying to push the buck to someone else so it does not hit their bottom line when they screwed the pooch. I say stick in there and demand they honor the powertrain warranty and cover the poor diagnose and cost at the first dealership. Good Luck. -
GM News: Rumorpile: Is There More To The GM-PSA Deal?
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in General Motors
I would agree with that, bring the tech and the sweet Adam in CNG form back to the US and let the freefall happen and then go back in with superior products and fresh plants that are not the socialist mess they took on.- 4 replies

VW News: Scratch The 2013 Launch Date For The Next Golf
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Volkswagen
This is more a money saving move as the over all outlook in Europe for auto sales and the rest of the world is not bright. Delaying with a slower roll out saves them money and allows them to look at ways to use the global slow down to reduce excess capacity of manufacturing. There is more to this than what is being stated. -
Industry News: Will The Tata Nano Be Sold In The U.S.?
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
If it ran on CNG, though, you'd be all excited by it, though. Actually NO, I would not want this auto here period even on CNG. I do not see these for more than an inner city golf cart equal and I fear that the people who buy them are trading in their life for a car that is not safe especially going over 35mph. -
Industry News: Will The Tata Nano Be Sold In The U.S.?
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
If it meets US regulations then welcome to the market, but personally I think this is a coffin on wheels and I see no purpose in having such small auto's on our freeways. I only see more auto deaths due to the lack of protection and the lack of driving skills the youth who would buy these have. Then you have the cheap and poor who buy it and then do not take care of it. I see this as another YUGO Nightmare. Only this time it is called NANO by TATA. -
Altima / Nissan is hoping to blind people with their chrome so you miss all the other shortcomings of this auto.

Back again...GS style this time
G. David Felt replied to caddycruiser's topic in Member's Rides Showcase
Awesome pictures, will have to show the wife so I can convince her to let me put a set into the trailblazer. Those are much nicer than I have seen in the ads, just seems to be better to see it in someones auto. Love the look of the ride. You have a sweet ride as Ocnblu has stated. Thanks again, look forward to hearing about the trip this weekend on how it handled and the gas mileage. -

GM News: Rumorpile: Is There More To The GM-PSA Deal?
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in General Motors
Not a bad way to get out of some poor contract issues by selling it to peugeot and then buying peugeot to get rid of some union issues, close down poor performing plants and reduce costs to survive.- 4 replies

I was told quite pointedly this week by some people at GM that the General is working hard at getting all of the volume sellers where they want first before working on the special cars that most of us around here wish for. They want their cars to be at or near the top of each major segment first. Have a good base and then work on the fun stuff. That is only common sense much of which GM has lacked in the past. Like I have said they need to pay the bills before they play. The small car sales voulme will have a great effect on how many how how powerful the fun cars will be in the future. The volume of a quality auto in each segment will allow the General to then play with the fun stuff we all crave in each segment.

Opel/Vauxhall News: Opel Reveals A New 1.6L Turbo
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Opel/Vauxhall
First off, can you please correct this sentence since it makes no sense at the start of your 2nd paragraph. "What that means is that the power peak arrives at some engine speed lower that." Second, your first statement would seem to imply that if they have an undersized turbo and over boosted, then you would have early death of the turbo charger. Is that what you are implying? So then if we go with your line of thought, the performance version at 197hp and 221lb-ft of torque would be a bigger turbo charger, but still undersized and over boosted and this would lead one to think that GM is planning on having these things die by 100,000 miles. With GM working so hard to change a persons mind, I have a hard time believing they would do this. The pictures and info on these links is pretty cool. Looks like a nice little engine. http://gmauthority.com/blog/2012/05/opel-announces-all-new-1-6l-turbo-engine-range/ http://gmauthority.com/blog/2012/08/genera-motors-commences-4-cylinder-powertrain-renewal-with-1-6l-turbo-ecotec/ Exciting is according to this web site, this engine will have dual rails so it can also run CNG! http://green.autoblog.com/2008/05/15/gm-launches-two-new-turbocharged-engines/- 12 replies

Can we get a PUMP BABY PUMP????? After all, Natural Gas is way cheaper, cleaner and except for making sure the supply has a good filtration so it is dry and any other natural contaminants from under ground are removed it would be a money maker with far easier delivery than petrol. Just think of all the semi's you can take off the road when you are not having to deliver petrol as the gas lines just go right to the fast fill stations and then you have home users who do time fill.

Is this the dealer who came back with this or you actually talking to GM customer service? I would challenge GM on this, the gift card for service is stupid. -
Now settle down, children. Well, I would like to set about changing that fact soon and I don't see a better way of doing that without buying some sort of beater or light project car. Like I said, I don't feel comfortable working on the Astra aside from doing an oil or maybe a spark plug change simply because it's a little too complex for my liking at this point and parts are far from plentiful and cheap. As for my personal schedule, I'm in class three days a week and I typically only work three or four days a week for anywhere between 4 to 8 hours. Indeed, I stay busy and, sure, I don't feel like doing much when I'm running my entire action-packed day on three hours of sleep, but I know I could still somehow manage to work out setting aside some time to devote to a new hobby or project or learning a new skill. That Rocks! Learning to fix your own auto will save you ton's down the road.

Interesting enough is that while Ford does sell a bit more trucks than GM in Washington state, according to the DOT web site, it seems there is far more older GM's on the road than Fords. Tends to make you think about who really has the most dependable longest lasting trucks.

So my dad sent me an email that I loved but found it hard to swallow that someone would sell off a sealed barn full of auto's for pennies and not look to see what was in it first. Yet here is an amazing barn find. http://www.intuh.net/barnfinds/ Here is the research done to get a better grab on the story, but I have to say I would love some of these old cars. http://www.sportscarmarket.com/columns-blogs/news/2709-portuguese-barn-find-fact-or-fiction What is your Favorite? This sealed Barn has 180 cars in it.

Very true, the ease of doing tune ups and basic maintenance is rock on with this line as it really does allow one to have a beater that just keeps on beating.

Toyota News: Rumorpile: FR-S Chief Engineer Hints At 2 More Coupes
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Toyota
They need to do this badly...Ford is picking up huge media hype with the new Folcus ST, GM already has a high performance version of the Astra that's faster and a better car...they should bring the Astra Coupe in as a Buick, and do a small RWD Chevy, I think. They are giving up image and market share.... I totally agree, the car gods need to be listening. Better yet bring them in with CNG and let that 130 octane fuel really make them roar!- 4 replies
