I totally agree, for an entry level premium car, this engine is pathetic. Yet the Lemmings will buy it.

WOW Me Likey Likey!!! Now I do see VM/Porsche in the over all body but I do like what they have done in taking it to the next level. Should be interesting.

After 6-9 months on a new paint job, clay is awesom to make sure you get no problems and get the smoothest paint job around.

Yup, seems everything is going small windows, high doors with protection built in to meet 5 star requirement. Yet that same extra protection will be causig accidents when no one can see out the car door or do a proper shoulder check. No wonder I do not have anything newer than 2008.

Cadillac News: Spying: Cadillac CTS, Now On The Streets
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
The mistake is some thing these are the destination when these models are the path. Cadillac will evolve and they will get there. The ATS for the reality of it is the real first step post Chapter 11. Yet both of you prove a point I was interested in seeing if anyone else would join me on. To become a world standard, to move beyond what is to what can become, one must have faith. I consider myself agnostic/atheist when it comes to religion, yet that does not mean I do not have faith in what engineers and companies can do to compete and be a standard. Apple became a standard Microsoft is a standard Cisco is a standard GM was a standard at one time, they can become the standard again. It starts with each one here to realize we all have the responsibility to give feedback to GM and other companies we care about. Make sure they hear us as our intentions are meant to be best and then hold onto the faith that they will not only hear, but incorporate it into their business to achieve that standard. ATS & CTS truly are a standard I believe. SRX, XTS and Escalade all play an important role in achieving this, if you talk to any of us that have owened 1 or more Escalades they have achieved that standard already for full size SUV's. SRX will help them move in the right direction for CUV sales and the XTS has an important fleet business model that helps Cadillac be seen. As long as the design language is consistent and flows through out all models, you will see a consistent message that will grow peoples perception of Cadillac favorably. Keep the Faith on GM and Cadillac the Standard of the World! -
Erstwhile Chairman of FDIC on how to fix the economy.

but he's not a politician, he's not elected..... Are you sure???? Loki is a Dictator and will challange the Avengers this summer, so that makes him a politician! -
It could have been me, or it could have been the product. Like with your experience, light rain water usually sheeted off the windshield, but heavier rain required the use of the wipers and I got a smear effect that made it harder to see out of the window. I wasn't happy and gave away the bottle of RainEx to someone. I would be willing to give it a try again, if that's the only thing out there to help prevent bugs from accumulating & hardening on the windshield as the summer months approach (the downside to living in the more rural parts of southern NJ). I would recommend you take a razor blade to your window to scrap off any dried on crud, then two times of cleaning the windshield with your favorite window cleaner. At this point then spray the RainX onto your windshield and using circular buffing motion to smear it all over the window. This should leave you with a slight brown covered paper towl. Let it dry for at least 15 min. Then with clean paper towel, buff to a shine. During heavy rain, you will still need to use your windshield wipers, but it should never smear. My window along with using the RainX windshield fluid stays shinny and clean even during the summer when I hit all our big bugs here in Seattle, Spray spray as I drive and the windshield comes clean. Good Luck with trying it again,

Industry News: Diesels Making A Big Comeback
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
SWEET!!! This is good news, as Diesels ROCK! Hopefully GM will move forward with their small block Duramax v8 -
I swear by clay bar's, it is allot of work, but the smooth silky paint job is amazing when you done and waxed and buffed to a shine. In regards to the windshield, I use normal windex to clean it, then rainX and let it dry and then buff it off to a amazing shine and the water just beads up and runs off so I hardly have to use my windshield wipper. Not sure why you had a smear problem. That is weird.

GMTruckGuy74, The leaks posted do not make me worry that much as I have been able to replace most of them myself when I did have to do it and the seal on the connection point of tranny to engine got fixed when I finally did replace the tranny with a rebuilt from GM. It was the cheapest way to go and since their rebuilds have a 36 month / 36,000 miles warranty, it was easy to buy and install my self. You can rent a tranny stand an do it in a day if you are focused, prep before and have everything ready the night before.

Cadillac News: Spying: Cadillac CTS, Now On The Streets
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
Yet look at all the passion we have in one way or another. With passion and determination, Caddilac will become the world standard again in the future I believe. ATS, CTS, SRX and Escalade will help them achieve this. -
Well, the '96 isn't mine just yet, and the one I posted was for referencing the lift I could do with it Yours is very nice. 1994 was an interesting year for me with Yukons, Tahoes and Suburbans (both). I spent a lot of seat time in them at car shows, I test drove a diesel gold-colored Tahoe Silverado at Reedman Auto World in Langhorne, PA (that was fun!), and day-dreamed a lot about owning a Suburban (I was 19 & in college at the time, so it was not only uneconomically feasible, but just little old me to drive such a big truck). If the leaks mentioned above are not red flags to purchasing this Suburban by anyone here, and the rest of the truck when I see it in person Saturday is in decent condition, I just may be fulfilling a very old wish I wish you the best, if the foundation is solid, these are beast that can last a long time. Good Luck. FYI - You can do a 2 inch Body lift and the Duramax with Allison tranny fits perfect, just have the drive line adjusted and get the wiring harness for the engine bay. I bought a book on doing the change over and talked about it on a thread here. I still hope to do it, but have not yet. http://www.thedieselpage.com/duramax6600.htm http://www.thedieselpage.com/duramaxconversions.htm Awesome vehicles, enjoy.

Industry News: Average Transaction Price of A New Car Goes Up
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
Yea, but I had a rental car a few years back that had manual levers for raising and lowering the seat, twist knob for lumbar support, all worked very well. Cheaper to produce, let chance of failure. We need to stop producing a disposable society and have people understand what it means to work hard to pay for something nice and learn to take care of things. Maintenance is NOT a dirty word. My first vehicle was a 1976 Series 5 Luv truck with the Isuzu 4 banger and 5 speed manual. Manual windows, Manual door locks, Manual bench seat. AM/FM radio. This my dad bought new from LeeJohnson Cheverolet in Summer of 75 for $1575 out the door. I loved that truck and when I turned 16, my dad gave me the option of $2k towards a vehicle of my choice and needing to get a job for car payments or I could have his truck. I took his truck, got a job and restored it to factory stock spec. and sold it when I went to Japan for College in 1989 for $3500 to a lady in Kirkland who still has it and drives it. She loves it and babies it. I do wish some time I could have that truck back. It had real style. We need to roll back some of the stupid laws that have bloated entry level cars and this would open up a ton of folks to driving. -
Why??? I like the toys and goodies of the R/T, but the Rallye has a better motor unless I am missing something?
