    EV motors can be built to have a wide range of power based on the software programming. As such, going to kW and nM makes total sense as the software profile will allow you to offer a 300, 400 and 500 or more nM of torque with complimentary kW or HP. One electric motor to rule them all based on the profile loaded to it's controller board.

    So then 7 to 10 of them will be sold to the Bond Movie set. After all gotta protect Bond! I can totally see this for the bond series, be interesting to see how they incorporate the ultra quiet Rapid E into what used to be noisy ICE versions. ?

    I understand your point but then once the internet came around and the ease of moving data across the globe, standards that everyone can understand makes infinitely more sense. Just like daylight saving time where many places outside of the U.S. have stopped using it, now many states are wanting to do the same thing which I support. Just like Metric, it makes products equal on the same footing for global consumption. My only beef here is the Rounding BS. Leave it as it really is. Let the actual numbers speak for themselves. @Drew Dowdell Love the idea of a write-up about the need to remove excessive badging on an auto. Add the IDIOT dealerships that think they can add their own big sticker or stick on badge to the back of your auto. The dealerships are NOT paying me for free advertising.

    While baby boomers and those that hate change will fight this, the global world is changing, EVs will happen and moving to kilowatts rather than Horsepower and Newton Meters rather than lb-ft of torque makes sense. Sadly some will get left behind in the 21st century workplace. As you know Robert working in tech like me, the only thing that is constant is inevitable change and obsolescence.

    I like this, makes better sense to move to Newton Meters and have a global understood standard. I wish the US would get on with modernizing and drop the stupid standard system and move to metric overall. The US would find it so much simpler to do math on everything if we went metric. I wonder how long before we drop Horsepower and go with kW as a global standard for rating of auto's.

    The 2019 XT5 I had had the 3 buttons by the shifter but then you had to confirm what you wanted on the digital dash and you truly had to be in park to change anything which does make sense. The only issue is that being the confirmation is on the right smaller midsection of the digital dash, there will be folks that will think they are in sports mode but defaulted back due to not seeing the small confirmation screen. I know it threw me the first time and my wife was not paying attention when she wanted to try it. Cadillacs system might seem simple initially but I think people will be thrown until they realize the confirmation they need to do via the front dash display and steering wheel buttons. Still like the XT5 / 6, but I do feel that GM can still do better.

    Good video and yes simple for the GMC, Cadillac puts it in their display and you have to use the steering wheel controls. Weird is you can select the option you want while your moving but it will not change anything unless you stop first and then select it. Also, while my wife and I have no problem using the tech selection that way, many folks I see buying Cadillacs, hell even Buick's cannot seem to figure out the tech selection. GMC is simple and forward, Buick and Cadillac seem to have made it a bit more cumbersome for those that might not be as tech savy. Yes for pretty much all of us on this site, it should not be hard to figure out but we do have to think of the average person who buys and uses the product. Many have a challenge using the basics on a smart phone, add a digital display to it on an auto and confusion happens. I would say that GM seems to have some confusing thoughts on various products on how to implement what should be a basic easy to use service / feature function.

    While some cars have grabbed my attention, nothing long term yet and I will say I am very blah on GM products as well as everyone else. Blazer has so much potential and so much wasted. XT6 is nice but could have been so much more. RIght now I am really hoping for a proper execution on the Cadillac EV CUV. If it was available today, it would be right there with the Rivian R1S if it was also available today. Right now just have to wait and see.

    I am making the assumption that it passed emissions when new but as it ages it fails to keep doing the job and as such they have retested and found this out and so are now going to replace the cats to get it back into compliance. I honestly did not read the full story so going based on what you posted. I am thinking glass half full, so they are being proactive in testing older auto's upon having a complaint made.

    Nice looking car and the interior is top notch. Based on the info, I would say this is a crash and done solution. I suspect to have the auto absorb all the energy in an impact to protect the passenger compartment that you would have Unibody structure damage beyond repair.

    Plus they are still assembling Model 3's in tents too. I think Tesla needs another assembly plant to handle their current sales and future with the Model-Y as I expect it to go on pre-order come the tomorrows reveal. I would not be Surprised to have Tesla start taking $1,000 pre-orders for it.
