Really cause the news always shows PA and signs like that all the time. Maybe you live in a time bubble that does not have a mix of modern with pre modern life.

Had to reread the press release and realized that GM is going to invest in the charging network it sounds like here in the US after stating they would be helping with investing in the XFC system in Europe. Fletcher said GM is planning to introduce the new vehicles in key, emerging segments. She also added that GM will help with "accelerating" the deployment of rapid-charging stations for its customers. There are currently more than 1,100 available publicly to GM customers in the United States. She declined to provide further details, citing more details "to come soon." So I take this as a positive sign that GM will help with the build out of the charging network and I hope in the details to come that it is all based on XFC systems. XFC = Xtreme Fast Charging has two levels, first one is a 350 Volt system. Second level is the one Porsche is pushing the 800 Volt system. Both can charge on par with gas dispensing.

Industry News: Welcome to the Era of Expensive, Luxury Trucks
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
And that is fine, having two distinct different levels of the Avalanche works. One in Chevy and one in Cadillac. We just do not want what started this in 1999 with the GMC denali Yukon and then a rebadge Escalade. They truly need to be distinct and different.- 55 replies

Industry News: Welcome to the Era of Expensive, Luxury Trucks
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
I see the point you are wanting to make but have to disagree that the EXT diluted Cadillac. I agree that the HD line of luxury in Cadillac is not needed, but a Half Ton luxury like the EXT is fine. I like the CT6 but will never buy it as it is not roomy enough for me and I do not like being on the floor when driving. For me Luxury SUV and Pickups from Cadillac in the manner of the EXT is what I want and believe can help Cadillac. Want Luxury HD, I will happily point you to GMC.- 55 replies

Yes, I was planning to get the Bolt for the wife, but the dash white v killed it for her. As a visual person she could not see herself driving the auto daily with such an ugly dash. If it was a solid black dash, she would have given her blessing and boom, been in a bolt.- 55 replies

Industry News: Welcome to the Era of Expensive, Luxury Trucks
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
Not picking a side on anything other than saying I would not say that luxury trucks are stupid, there are clearly many people that would like the luxury side of an Auto in a Pickup truck with the flexible use of the truck. I for one will never be comfortable in a car, as such, I only drive full size SUV's and had planes to buy a fully loaded Cadillac EXT pickup till GM stupidly killed it. I think Cadillac should have a Luxury pickup, no reason to not have all the features found in a CT6 in a full size SUV and in a full Size Pickup. We all have our differences of what we want to drive and yet many still want the luxury.- 55 replies

Like the Horse n Buggy change over to auto's in the early 1900's which for most of america took 25 to 50 years to achieve. I expect a more likely 15 to 25 year change over from ICE to EV especially once XFC chargers are everywhere at the Charging Stations of America.

September 2017: Toyota Motor North America Inc.
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Sales Figure Ticker
Yes, I watched it and no there is nothing wrong with checking out where you are going first and deciding if you want to go there or not. I am more bold in that I have taken my Escalade in places many would not, but I also do take the time to look at the approach or departure angles to keep from damaging my rides. Yes the G-Wagon has lockers, but does that keep people form taking what they do have off road? No and that is the point of our discussion, just cause I do not have lockers does not mean I cannot go places and use my head to figure out a way to get there and back. Some people truly do not know how to drive or are willing to attempt something. I am not one of those and while I do not record my off road adventures, many seem to think that no one takes an Escalade off road. These videos just show that they do no matter the competition. Luxury off road does happen.- 28 replies

G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Sales Figure Ticker
No matter what fans of either SUV will like what they have and enjoy using them. Everywhere I have gone in my Escalade I have gotten there and back including to Hearts pass a solid 4x4 trail in Washington State that takes you from ocean level to 7500 feet of switch back trails that have dug outs for allowing autos to pass each other and some steep approach and departure angles. Yes G-Wagon has more approach and departure angles and I could do that in an Escalade if I raised it up to the same level the G-Wagon is sitting at. Yet the core market is for luxury ride. Just cause the focus on what they sell does not mean it does not get used off road. Same with the G-Wagon, both mostly sold to people wanting a label or look and rarely used off road.- 28 replies

I get that you want to show what the G-Wagon can do via MB production videos, but the statement was of what it is used for and you can find off road American Iron regardless of your thoughts on their quality being used in real world use compared to the G-Class. I know what my American Iron will do and I put my money where my mouth is. I am more confident in taking it off road than I would the MB Products.- 28 replies

G. David Felt - Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.cheersandgears.com Honda Consolidating Assembly plants in Japan It would seem Evolving is the new Honda buzz word as Honda releases a News Release this morning stating that they will be evolving their automobile production systems in Japan by merging their Saitama assembly line into the Yorii plant consolidating respective production strengths. This evolution will allow them to prepare and better guide the company as they plan and prep for the evolving electrification and intelligence technologies that will become standard in the auto industry. This will allow them to use the Yorii plant as a test bed for global production and best practice of assembly of new auto technologies and platforms. With this Honda can evolve into a global standard production platform for the future that covers ICE, EV and Hybrid auto's. Honda Press Release

G. David Felt - Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.cheersandgears.com Riding Assist-e at 45th Annual Tokyo Motor Show Have to hand it to Honda, I am very much interested in this bike. An EV bike that will have between 100-200 miles of charge and built in autobalance in the way of a Segway will reduce the balance work of the rider. To quote the Honda Corporations press release: Honda Riding Assist-e (World premiere) The Honda Riding Assist-e features Honda’s unique balance control technology, developed through its humanoid robot research. The motorcycle automatically balances itself at very low speeds, reducing rider load. This model makes riding easier, and more fun. The Riding Assist-e is powered by electric motor, and marks a step towards realizing Honda’s vision of “enjoying the freedom of mobility” and “a carbon-free society.” This should make for some fast reacting quick off the line rides for the adrenaline junkie in us all! Honda Press Release Plenty of pics I see posted to the web now on this new bike. https://www.bing.com/images/search?q=Honda+Riding+Assist-e+news+release&FORM=HDRSC2

Tesla delivers only 220 during the Quarter due to Bottlenecks Tesla says it is on track to deliver 100,000 S & X models by the end of the year and have Model 3 production up to 5000 units per month. Yet with that, they have also stated that due to bottlenecks on the assembly line, they are behind in building and delivering Tesla 3 to the public. I found the comment by another reader on the story of their quarterly report to be very spot on. To quote JSH who posted the following: "It seems that skipping basic steps in the tooling and manufacturing development process didn't pan out. It turns out that automotive manufacturers do know a bit more about making cars than a tech start up. This shocks no one except the fan-boys." Tesla Quarterly Report by Autoblog

Nissan News: 2018 Nissan Leaf Boasts More Range and Lower Price
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Nissan
Nissan is showing off their Leaf Nisimo at the Tokyo Autoshow. Have to say this is a sharp EV. Chevy needs a BOLT SS version Fast. More photo's of the outside and inside at the autoblog story Compared to the regular Leaf 2.0, this is a homerun hit. -
Tesla Semi? Tesla teased everyone with this picture of their new City hauling 200-300 mile range Class 8 Semi EV. A reddit user saw this in california in an area known to be used by Tesla to test their EV projects. Is this the Tesla 200-300 mile range EV Class 8 Semi that is promised to be unveiled Oct 26 2017? Autoblog Video Is this the future of Silent delivery in our cities? autoblog story

First public interest is not weak, as has been stated here by many, the chicken or egg issue in regards to charging and auto options has always been the problem. Many are sitting on the side lines waiting to see what new options they get and many options are coming. With this, I see Autoblog did a comparison of sales between the Bolt and Volt and find that many customers prefer the CUV Bolt over the Volt. Autoblog story Nissan Leaf is also showing the same sales increase for EV's over Hybrids. Like everything and just like ICE in the Early 1900's, those that are willing to adjust their habits are willing to take the ease and savings of owning an EV and charging at their own house or work place and as the Gas Stations become Charging stations with XFC or Xtreme Fast Chargers (Level 4) that gives 300 miles of charge in less than 15 min, we will see habits change on those that are more set in their ways about changing. Cart before the Horse maybe, maybe not, clearly I expect you to be one of the last to change over if ever to EV's, yet the bulk of the public will change over in the next 15-20 years as the country changes with the rest of the world regardless of if you believe in Climate change or not. Many are wanting a healthier place to live for themselves, their children and the future of the planet.

I respect your thoughts on it, but I would put my 1994 GMC SLE Suburban and 2006 Escalade ESV Platinum up against a G-wagon any day. Both have been off road and have gone places I never see MB products especially the over rated G-Wagon.- 28 replies

I can see a surge of pony car sales when we have an EV version. The Torque will blow people away and as the batteries get better and more XFC or level 4 charging becomes available people will enjoy the quick recharge with the low end torque of moving fast.
