For the west coast, yes, Level 3 quick chargers are now standard. The public and Professional drag races are pretty cool seeing all the various teams that are going EV. Check out NEDRA, the West Coast EV Drag Racing association. Also check out the European EV Drag Racing, crazy cars at 500HP Current World fastest EV Drag Racer, VW Beetle baby with a 9.5 sec run.- 80 replies

This will be interesting. I see this as a proving point of their battery and controller R&D and then sell it off to an Auto Company.- 31 replies

Actually the EV is more reliable and can take the abuse better than the Hemi. This comes down to a less complex engine or motor able to react faster.- 80 replies

Industry News: California Mulls Ban On Combustion Engines
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
Valid Points, The west coast give big breaks to people who register their old auto's as Collectors and you are limited in how many miles a year you can drive them for all the perks of being a collector. 6000 miles in Washington. Many ways for the gov to limit auto's being driven. Especially if it is not a daily driver, why not take the breaks and savings that can be had with limited driving. WRONG, You need to learn young padawan! White Zombie is one of many that are street legal and officially Drag Race. Here is a video of it eating up all types of drag race cars. EV kills ICE.- 80 replies

Quick Spin: My Test of the Chevy Bolt
G. David Felt replied to Cmicasa the Great's topic in Chevrolet
Volt is awesome and totally fine too, but Drew is making the point that the BOLT will use less energy than an ICE auto would use gas sitting in traffic. -

G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
I can see a sale of New ICE auto's ending by 2040. Existing auto's I can see being limited to collector status and limiting miles driven. Many ways to force / change the type of auto's driven and the way they are driven. This could also push people into the conversion big time as people change over ICE powered auto's they like to EV powertrains.- 80 replies

Quick Spin: My Test of the Chevy Bolt
G. David Felt replied to Cmicasa the Great's topic in Chevrolet
To Each their own, but I feel your fears are greatly overblown my friend. It is not as tragic you think now compared to the 90's or even first 10 years of 2000. -

Difference is if you're at Idle, you use gas, at idle in an EV, is no joules are used unless you have your AC/heater/radio going. Then still is less than having to idle the whole auto to just run those things. I do get your saying just turn off the gas motor, but EV is more efficient in this regards when your just idle. -

Thank you, just brought up the next start up, a Super Capacity Quick Charge tank. About the size of a 1 gallon can, enough capacity to get you to the next charge station or off the road. New Ideas, New Inventions and the future is all about making money! Plus very few people walk to get their own gas anymore, they would rather make a call, then wait for someone to bring it too them. Reality of our 21st century society and people being lazy. Rather sit on their butts, wasting time on Facebook than like you or me who would set off to find a solution and keep moving. -
Quick Spin: My Test of the Chevy Bolt
G. David Felt replied to Cmicasa the Great's topic in Chevrolet
My friend, now your just trying to find excuses. best part of being stuck in traffic is unlike a gas engine that you would need to turn off if you are behind an accident and not moving at all, an Electric just uses no power, detours and contruction are not really an issue either as Electric even if your going slower you use less electricity, cannot say that with an ICE especially if your in a performance auto. My Trailblazer SS AWD that I love does worse in slow traffic and stop n go traffic than if it could just cruise along. The BOLT would be even more efficient. From AAA to to major credit card companies, insurance companies and surprise is that most Cell phone providers offer road side assistance programs either for free or for minimal cost that is cheaper than AAA. Best part is in looking into these they all offer mobile charging for EV's if stranded. We are in a Great time as we have some if not the most powerful ICE options ever and we are moving to a new performance standard in EV's and one that will make the cities, roads the world a better place to live in helping to clean up the world. Do not have to be a member as for a nominal fee they will still come to you and charge you right up, no different than paying someone else to bring you gas. -
Volvo News: 2018 Volvo XC40 Shows How Sweden Does Small
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Volvo
How about an Honest Comparison of all gas vehicles rather then slipping in the diesel against gas options. MB does not hold up against the others when you look at Apple to Apple comparison. Now Comparing the best from the newest available 2018 or 2017 models we get: Seems MB fails to equal or best the Dodge or Ford. and is questionable against the Volvo. -
Crazy but smart, Washington is planning to end emission inspections next year in 2018 due to no real change has been detected in the last 5 years for emissions so politicians have stated they would payout a pension to the employees and close them down. While I agree emission inspection can be ended, I have seen way too many damaged unsafe newer auto's on the road, I think they should flip the emissions inspection to a safety inspection for everything from belching smoke due to burnt rings to headlights and tail lights out as well as uncovered bumpers and body damage that no longer does the original job. Driving is a privilege earned and we need to keep the roads safe and I think that needs to come via safety inspections. Would they even know what to inspect let alone understand the technology of that era.

Volvo News: 2018 Volvo XC40 Shows How Sweden Does Small
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Volvo
Maybe he is only sharing it to Drew so he does not hear from the rest who could blow holes in the MB is better than the Durango push. I take the Durango over the model he suggests any day. -
Sadly not all states emission test Diesel like they do gas which is stupid. Course I put illegal headers on my suburban which helped to improve the engine including lower emissions and the test place was shocked when it tested cleaner than when it was new and OEM only. Stupid laws sometimes hurt people who try to do better with newer technology. If only the actual testers knew what they were looking at, most have zero knowledge of auto's to know if something is not OEM.

Your right in most of the Jelly Bean Raked CUV's the curved upper portion cuts into the head and that is not to say this one might not also do that, but the placement of the creases and the overhead shot of the CUV shows it to be a bit more brick like. I like the dash design, one of the better I have seen and the exterior design is just leaps ahead of so many of the CUV's out there especially all the Jellybean curved ones compared to a more creased look. At least these pictures give this a more defined look. Who knows, I might still end up hating it once it is on the dealership lots so I can check it out and possibly test drive it. -
Genesis News: Genesis: We're Not Planning To Go Smaller than G70
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Genesis
This makes total sense and no reason for Genesis to push into Hyundai territory. Rather they focus on the trend of delivering quality luxury CUV/SUV's if they ever do a real SUV. I suspect they will just do the CUV's. -
Quick Spin: My Test of the Chevy Bolt
G. David Felt replied to Cmicasa the Great's topic in Chevrolet
If you ever get to sit in some of the early Hybrids, the last seat was used by many to store the batteries and as such, you had minimal travel room for the sprints, less ability for padding, etc. Sit in the first generation Hybrids on the back seat is much like sitting on a brick bench for a road trip. 10-15 min one can survive, but longer and your butt hurts. -
