    Hell the original 6.2l's were damn good they were every bit as good as a 5.7l small block we had one in the fleet that went 10 years of 24hr a day service with only a injection pump & GM payed for the pump (They'd not seen a failure yet) it was a traffic signal ladder truck with a utility box. The biggest problems were lower ball joints.

    Not liking the engine cover looks like a sliding stack of pancakes similar to the old Solara a$$ end. They make improvements in weight and widen the car. Also the length of the previous car was longer than the Vette will it now be long enough that people will actually see that the Vette is shorter?

    Why so Balthy? Both engines are N/S, the 425 would work with an adapter and maybe need a high torque rated chain drive but then the 69 Eldo chain from the High compression 500cid would be stout enough. what were you thinking? Can't be the hood length

    Then I would cut the cat off if it's good you can always reattach with a stainless steel band clamp since you're doing the cat back. If the cat is plugged it will pressurize and relieve its self during valve overlap thus causing the sputtering let alone the inability to keep running at a load.

    Clogged cat will show it's self at high speed & with a hot cat. unbolt it to see if it's the problem. Am I wrong? I'm remembering that you said it was sputtering & had to feather the fuel to get speed. That could very well indicate the cat.
