  1. Playing some Battlefield Vietnam got me in the mood for some classics...
  2. I was hoping I wasn't the only one who remembered him
  3. Chromium Steel is going to need a wet nap wherever he is...
  4. There are three threads in the Lounge that have not had a new post since October/November 2010 which are still pinned. What are you listening to was last active 2 days ago. At the time it was unpinned, I along with some other members said it should be re-pinned as it was still active. But I'm not gonna sit here and lose any sleep over it, it is just a thread, which isn't important in the scheme of things. Its the principle though. I don't see how I could be one of the annoying posters, seeing as how I rarely get involved in threads in the first place.
  5. I've been a member since 2002, but have never really been all that talkative here, which my post count will reflect. I do however visit this site daily, multiple times a day for all of my automotive news. I don't even go to Autoblog or any other blog/news sites. The one exception is Allpar, again a site I've been visiting for over 10 years. I tend to use the view new content feature to keep up to date on everything here on C&G as I find it the easiest way to browse the forums. I will say though there's some favoritism present here among certain people. I was especially ticked off to see that my What are You Listening To thread was unpinned despite the fact it still had recent activity in it, when some threads that remain stickied have been dormant for months on end. That move really made me not even want to post here at all, not because you unpinned my thread, but because of the double standard favoring those who are either forum staff or members with a larger post count. That kind of bias really hinders the desire to even want to post when you're not someone who has 15K posts under his belt. Another possible factor in the sites overall decline may be due to older members leaving, such as Ninety Eight, and Sixty8, XP175 among others. Oracle used to be a daily active member who makes rare appearances now, leaving only the core remaining old members. As others have said there is a basic formula apparent in each thread. Those who are in favor of new cars and those in favor of the way things used to be. That argument seems to be the daily theme here, I happen to fall somewhere in the middle, but leaning towards wanting the old days back, I often find myself in agreement with guys like Camino and Balthazar, but I can also see the mindsets of people like Dodgefan among others too. It's just useless really to have to rehash these same statements day in and day out and probably is a reason some members have moved on and new ones stay away. But despite it, after spending 10 years of my life coming here almost daily, I would hate to see C&G fade away.
  6. I'm glad he's dead, and that America is responsible for his death. That piece of sh*t lived 10 years too long.
  7. America FTW It's about f*cking time...
  8. I don't know if I can I sure hope not... Buick is using no heritage names today, and I feel they shouldn't start now (if this were to come over as a Buick). Regal is not a new name...
  9. Wow very nice indeed, all of them have nice details and fit and finish. I especially love the shade of blue used for the lighting in the gauges. I was a big fan of the last 300 minus the interior and boy has Chrysler come along way, can't wait to see what's in store as time goes on. I love seeing Chrysler getting it's act together and moving upmarket, I've always been rooting for Chrysler, perhaps because they were the underdog of the big 3. I can safely say that right now if I were in the market for a new car or SUV, I'd be at a Chrysler, Dodge or Jeep dealer before I went to a GM dealer. Between the Challenger, Charger, 300 and new GC and Durango, Chrysler offers more choices for me than any other manufacturer, period.
  10. Another subtle nod to the original beetle is the design of the taillights which are shaped like the originals, just turned on their side.
  11. I like this Beetle alot, I've always had a soft spot for the original in my heart and this one captures the feel of the original better than the old New Beetle did IMO. I love the roofline and raked windsheild as well as the new interior. Great job VW.
  12. 1978 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight LS 350 V8, owned from March 2000- August 2001, junked at 194K. 1986 Toyota Camry LE 4 banger, was originally going to be my first car passed down from my mother, but I wanted the Olds. After junking the Olds, I registered the Camry in September 2001 and got new brakes and various other work on it done ( It had been sitting in the garage for a few years ) drove it for 2 weeks when the head gasket went at 116K miles. Total time in use, 2 weeks. "Owned" from 1997-2005, and in those 8 years drove it for 2 whole weeks total lol. 1979 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale 350 V8, bought in October 2001 and still currently own it. 1996 Ford Taurus 3.0 V6, inherited from my grandfather after his passing in October 2002. Traded to my father at 45K miles with a blown tranny in early 2003 for his car... 1985 Chrysler 5th Avenue 318 V8, was my father's car traded to me in exchange for the Taurus. Owned from Feb or March 2003- the end of 2004 or early '05. 1996 Buick Riviera SC 3800 V6, Purchased March 2006, currently still own it.
  13. +1, I have been lusting over the Brera for quite some time now, I'm not a hatchback kind of guy, but this is the the first hatchback I would buy without a second thought. I especially like the front and interior which has a sort of retro simplicity and looks alot better than most cars today which all have very similar center stack layouts. The only downside to the Brera is it's handling according to just about anyone who has road tested it thus far, though the S model seems to have rectified that aspect.
  14. I would love to see the Riviera return, although I'm not too drawn to the styling of the concept from a few years ago. I'd much rather see something unquestionably modern, yet having a dash of some past styling thrown in for good measure. My preference would be something inspired by the first gen Riv, which in my opinion is a timeless design and one of the sexiest to come out of any GM division, ever. I wouldn't mind design inspiration coming from the boat tail Riv's either, which I think were quite daring, especially looking at them from a historical standpoint and knowing the dark days that were to come soon after across the industry. One of the main reasons I chose my Riviera was because of the retro touches that clearly were inspired by the first gen Riv, namely the interior and the subtle raised creases of the front fenders leading into the headlights. The only complaint I've had with my Riv aside from a never ending reliability issue with both the supercharged 3800 and the transmission is the fact it was not a V8 or RWD. I wouldn't even mind the FWD as much if it had at least come with a V8, in this case most likely a Northstar. While the build quality of the interior certainly isn't up to par with GM's new stuff, for it's time it was pretty solid and has held up well, even the leather seats are in great shape and look like they're perhaps 5 years old, not 16. I think GM really put a good amount of effort into the Riv's final generation, it's a shame they seemed to have abandoned the car just as they we're finally returning it to it's formal glory. I hope they bring it back and make it great, like it should be.
  15. I remember a post a while back showering archived or cached posts from C&G's past. I was able to trace some of my posts back to at least 2002, although I'm quite sure I joined in 2001.
  16. Cheers to everyone here at C&G Bobo I'm honored to be mentioned, although this past year my already limited amount of active posts has dropped even more, so this was a a nice surprise. Cheers
  17. I'm loving this new Charger as well, but that goes without saying since I liked the previous one as well, well except for the interior. This new Charger's interior while somewhat simple in it's design isn't trying to look like every other interior out there now, the driver oriented nature of the design and the one piece dash bezel is a nice change from the trend of individual gauges pods with a hood thats looks like it was put on as an afterthought. I also like the fact Chrysler is using actual black interiors with contrasting seats and trim, looks world better than the gray $h! thats been in every Chrysler product since like '04 or so. Way to go Chrysler, keep up the great comeback.
  18. Not a single trick or treater to be found, it's been an ongoing trend for the past several Halloweens, quite sad really. When I was growing up, my neighborhood was filled with kids all Halloween afternoon into the night ( same neighborhood I live now ). Makes me sad to see how Halloween has died during the past 10 years, some of my best memories are from Halloweens as a kid.
  19. That first 442 looked mostly all there, what a shame.
  20. Kiss-God Of Thunder Still no explanation for why this was unpinned?
  21. My Riviera has the auto dimming rear view mirror and driver's side mirror, so far no leaking from either unit and they're almost 16 years old now. That said, my driver's side mirror has discolored over the past few years and now has a sort of brownish/bronze tint to it.
  22. The Cars- Drive Why was this thread unpinned? it's still active when there's pinned topics that haven't been posted in since August.
