Toyota News: 2019 Toyota Yaris Sedan Drops the iA
oldshurst442 replied to William Maley's topic in Toyota
Ive got the Rain-X wipers too. I dont find them being all that different from regular wipers. But then again, I never did go through the trouble of using the wet napkins(or whatever was in that package) that come with the wipers to coat my windshield...so I guess I dont get that bead effect. Maybe I should have done it? Or not... But on the issues of automatic wipers... Im on Balty's side on that. Ill even quote him... Because whether the water beads on my windshield or not...what Balthy said!!! EDIT: I just realized you folk are actually talking about an actual Rain-X coating product.\ I did not know that existed. I thought it was just a brand of wipers that came with a one-time application... COOL! Next time Im at Canadian Tire, tomorrow basically, I will look for this and I will buy it!!!- 39 replies

Rumorpile: Alfa Romeo Readying A Giulia Based Coupe :Comments
oldshurst442 replied to William Maley's topic in Alfa Romeo
Ive seen a couple of these Giulia's in my neighbourhood. Im starting to like it. I think its hot....for now. I did not like it at all when it came out. It grew on me to the point where I visualize myself owning one. \With an explanation. 1. In red, its one helluva nice lookin' ride. One of the better ones, especially in red as today's cars dont really look all that good in red. Yes very BMW knock-off--ish looks, but in red, very hot and wild. She is a temptress! LOVE, LOVE those classic Italian style wheels. 2. The Ferrari derived V6 sounds INCREDIBLE! 3. I will NEVER EVER BUY one or even lease one as I heard that the F part of the FCA equation, be it Fiat or Alpha Romeo, has really really shytty reliability. 4. I will probably start not liking it again by the time summer rolls around... But a coupe version may also start to pick at my curiosity! I welcome the thought of a coupe Giulia!- 6 replies

Escalade... Escala... Yeah...just by the name, I could see it being a SUV. Ill just be grateful that the actual name of Escala makes it and Johan does NOT change it to an alphanumeric. I have no real concerns if the Halo vehicle of Cadillac is indeed a SUV. However, I DO want Cadillac to produce a Ciel! A Cien would be nice too, but I really really would prefer that a Ciel would be a part of a Cadillac portfolio. And an El Miraj waaaay before a Cien gets a red light. If a Ciel and an El Miraj have to be lower on the Halo vehicle scale due to a Halo vehicle being a SUV...I gots NO PROBLEMS!!!!

Toyota News: 2019 Toyota Yaris Sedan Drops the iA

Thanx for all this info!!! I laughed with this quote. Seeing that I LOVE the GM A-Body ( I also LOVE the ALL the GM fullsizers of that time too but dream car of all time is a 1970 442...) Im kinda embarrassed by that statement. I respect your opinion on cars, and I do NOT want that statement to be true! Ill just pretend I did not see you write it up... You see, in my own little world, the 1970 442 is just the greatest thing on earth. The Best Balthy! The Best! This statement had me not only LOL-ing...but LMAO-ing! Several notches above that actually. LMFAO level to be accurate. And yes. The Yaris SUCKS!- 39 replies

Infiniti News: Infiniti To Transition Sedans From RWD to AWD
oldshurst442 replied to William Maley's topic in Infiniti
Or a Bonneville GXP...(the Stinger is a tad more luxurious than a W-Body Grand Prix ever was. The Stinger is closer to a late 1990s early 2000s GM FWD H Body in terms of luxury but closer to a mid 2000s W-Body in terms of performance.) Or what a modern Buick Wildcat could be. I could see Infiniti hammer out a car like this with ease.- 10 replies

That...and just maybe...the Sonic is simply just...a shytty car! Is a Mazda 2 a shytier car? Quite possibly. Is a Nissan Micra an equal pile of...? I dunno. Maybe the Sonic is a good little car, all I know I wouldnt be caught dead seen in one let alone me buying one.

And the reason why a Fusion might surplant the Taurus as a SEDAN cop car (as the Explorer is doing a fine job as a police interceptor model really the one to replace the Taurus) is that the Fusion Interceptor is sold as a hybrid.

Infiniti News: Infiniti To Transition Sedans From RWD to AWD
oldshurst442 replied to William Maley's topic in Infiniti
The Infiniti grill just inspires Buick to me. For whatever reason. I also see those angry, tilted headlights as a shout out to a 1960 Electra 225. Actually, the whole car just screams a modern interpretation the the 1960 Buick Electra 225 to me. I also see Infinitis as 'heavy' and hefty luxo cars. No matter what vehicle it may be. Be it the Q60 and Q70 coupe and sedan or the QX70 SUV. Personal luxury vehicles. Like a Buick Riviera. I could easily see Infiniti's design language as a perfect fit for American arrogant and in your face styling that Cadillac and Buick was always famous for.- 10 replies

Toyota News: 2019 Toyota Yaris Sedan Drops the iA
oldshurst442 replied to William Maley's topic in Toyota
Could it be that the washer was an aftermarket affair? Or could it be that my memory is foggy and Im remembering the headlight dimmer instead? I was born in 1973. My dad totaled the GTO in 1977. I was but 4 years old. Yes, I do remember the car. Very faint memories, so the details are fuzzy. But I swear I remember stepping on it myself and windshield washer fluid would spurt out. (Out of somewhere because that detail is forgotten.) Would it be two black nozzles on the hood where the hood vents were. Just above those hood vents? yes. blue square. You triggered another memory there!- 39 replies

Infiniti News: Infiniti To Transition Sedans From RWD to AWD
oldshurst442 replied to William Maley's topic in Infiniti
I think Acura should just concentrate on being what they always were. A mid-luxury brand that effectively replaced and shut down Oldsmobile. They need to do this with sport sedans that had a mix of European flair and a whole lot of dose of Japanese mojo! Coincidentally, I think Buick needs to do the same thing, continue on where Oldsmobile left off and be like Acura was in the 1990s, but with American mojo. Sadly for us though, Buick is more geared to Chinese tastes, because Americans are too dumb to realize the history of Buick and what Buick means to America. Buick in America is as good as dead, in my opinion. I dont think the Regal will sell. Sadly! (Is the Regal geared towards American tastes or is it geared to Chinese tastes or is it a pseudo European American concoction? I LOVE it, but I dont think many Americans will embrace it) This is where Infiniti comes in. I think Infiniti could get real traction and build REAL MODERN Buicks for us Americans as Buick is building Chinese Buicks for us Americans. You know... MODERN versions of Buick Wildcats and Rivieras and 1957 Buick Specials and 1950s and 1960s Electra 225s and Buick GS and Grand Nationals...(even if those vehicles are of the CUV/SUV kind) The QX70 is a very aggressive and sexy looking American styling SUV. They should ditch the Alphanumerical and give it an American landscape or landmark name. Yes with the vehicles should have AWD. Yes with turbo V6s. Yes with Hybrid electric tech or 100% all-out electric. Yes with aggressive AMERICAN Infiniti styling married with the current Italian curvaceous lines. Yes with the proper AMERICAN focused marketing and needs. Yes with American landmark names. I think Infiniti has life here in America if they could effectively replace Buick. They have to target Buick and take them out for good! Its saddens me to say this...but its just a thought that I have.- 10 replies

I see the appeal it has on people. I just dont see the sex of it. (sex-appeal) Yes. I do not like it. I acknowledge its sexiness, it just does not do anything for me. I acknowledge its performance credentials. I respect those. I just wouldnt buy one. Even if I had money. If I was married into wealth and my father-n-law gave ME a dowry, Id tell him thanks! But Id trade-it in for a used 1996 Dodge Viper GTS when he wasnt lookin'. YEAH! Even with that shoddy build quality. Look at those headlights. OUCH! Out of line they are! But there is a reason why I mention the Viper of the 1990s. Something about a merger of equals. And yes! I DO prefer a 1996 Viper GTS over a 2018 M-B AMG GT. Any day, every day!

Since Im going down memory lane, the dome light from 1970s GM vehicles is also what I miss. I remember putting my little finger in the middle of that star pattern. I also remember the 1979 Impala having circle rings as a pattern instead of a star. Good times!- 39 replies

Toyota News: 2019 Toyota Yaris Sedan Drops the iA
oldshurst442 replied to William Maley's topic in Toyota
I think automated wipers are supposed to be luxury things to which entitled and cuddled folk dont have to flick a switch or toggle a button or swipe a lever to switch on the wipers for the wipers to sweep back and forth to clear the rain from the windshield. Too much work apparently. Also, if Im not mistaken, the Cadillac and Buick versions from the 1990s also adjusted automatically, the frequency of the back and forths so as not to disturb the driver for him to adjust the frequency himself. Too much trouble to set the intermittent switch. Yes. Yes. the intermittent frequency is NEVER accurate no matter what level you set it on. I guess automatically, problem is solved? If the Yaris comes with automated wipers, Its a big leap forward for when I remembered this one or very similar. The button itself rings a bell to me if not the whole set-up. I remember it on one of my dad's 1970s GM vehicles. Was it the 1974 Impala or the 1979 Impala? I know the 1970 GTO he had did not use this switch as the washer function was on the foot-well on the bottom. On the left. Am I jealous that a lowly Yaris will have automated wipers? Nah! I love to be in control. In total control of my vehicle. I love to drive. Me. Drive. And do all the things by myself. The only thing manual I dont like is manual transmissions. The ONLY automated part of driving I prefer is the automatic transmission. I even dont mind me cranking up the roll up windows. I remember this crank fondly! 1979 Impala had this. The 1974 Impala had electric windows...and a white vinyle top. Good times!- 39 replies

Fuel efficiency? Those targets COULD be met. Question is...there are a couple of questions actually... 1. Do we as a society WANT to change? 2. Do we as a society WANT to sacrifice? 3. Do we as a society ACCEPT the responsibility and do we ACKNOWLEDGE the shyte we are doing? Or do we as a society just say, "not my problem" and just go out of are way to do what the phoque we want to do and just damn the phoquing planet because either 1. #fakenews 2. Wont be around when it is truly too late I aint a tree hugger by any means But... I cant seem to forget the message in that 1960s movie either... I love me some 707 horses. But I could live with just 1 if it would come down to it. If it meant that we needed to. Im not sure our selfish society would want to do the same. *SIGH* And no...its not all about doom and gloom. But the thing is..going forward into OUR future...the whole phoquing planet has become selfish. Oh well...not my problem I guess... 1. #Fakenews 2. Ill be loooooong gone to see if doomsday is truly a reality or not.

Sure...but isnt that how the bubble burst in 2009? Great...but didnt deregularization of Wallstreet in the 1980s by a Republican cause all that greed and shyte to hit the fan and send all of our jobs elsewhere and in the process creating a throw-out society which eventually led to the aforementioned bubble...oh...the de-regularization of mortgages in the 1990s by a Democratic also lead to that and now this current guy in power wants to bring back the jobs... I guess it would be a radical idear.... To have no limits JUST BECAUSE we can...because 'Merica Godammit! because obviously we humans have self-control and our leaders and our barter entrepreneurs care about the welfare of our being and are responsible and in no way do all of us as a species destroy the very phoquing planet we inhabit... I dedicate this song to you, because birthday

I put a damper on things, didnt I? That last thing I said... was meant in jest...as in if you have an ounce of a sense of humour, you would appreciate the ironic and sarcastic twist I just did... So...if it seems like Im angry...I AM NOT! Just trying to enlighten some of you...that while joking around is fun...we must tread very carefully on how we approach said humour. Sometimes...the jokes do hurt.
-
For what its worth, I have a huuuuge sense of humour. Problem is...ONE MORE TIME... That THAT was NOT a joke. Its distorted reality. Its what your POTUS calls #fakenews. You talked about your parents feeling the ALLIED bombs... MY mom's mother had to feed German soldiers in her home... But THAT was 70 some odd years ago... Two different men...GREEK men...in Greece... I wouldnt be dismissing this...I wouldnt be all sooo phoquing snug about how YOU got a sense of humour and I dont! Why am UI taking this this far? Well...A simple Im sorry would actually would do. A simple I did not know how you felt about this would be suffice. A little EMPATHY and COMPASSION about how phoquing severe austerity measures in Europe actually are... A little phoquing research would go along way instead of relying on your POTUS' own words #fakenews... From Italy, albeit not as instense as in Greece... From Spain Just as intense And yes...when the punchline is that Germany picks up the tab, because Italy and Spain and Greece are the punching bags...yeah...it pissed me off...knowing that GERMANY IS A HUUUUUUUGE REASON FOR THE DOWNFALL... Sure there was corruption in all three countries to which led to billions of dollars being pissed out the window...the corruption of the German money machine is far far worse... So...nada on that being a joke... We live in the USA and in Canada where all that did NOT affect us... Let's put it this way...something that hits you home...RECENTLY (because OBVIOUSLY YOU FORGOT HOW BAD IT WAS IN AMERICA WHEN THAT VERY SAME BUBBLE BURST HERE!!!!) Make a joke about that!!! When there has been people hurt from the joke you are about to crack...
-
I understand that fully... problem is...young Greeks dont forget... Yes its a joke in a...joke thread... But like I told you... http://en.protothema.gr/10-600-archaeological-findings-that-were-stolen-by-germany-during-wwii-return-to-greece/ And that is just with the looting...the bombing of infrastructure, the Greek POWs, the strain the Allies and the Germans put on our national identity pitting us against each other with the communist accusations and the like... Oh...it seems like young Italian millennials have NOT forggotten either... He dont seem too happy with the Greek government on how the Greek Government is handling the issues...Im guessing he sees Italy's economical affairs in the same way...you know...the heavy austerity measures taken by the EU (Germany) and the poor Greeks and Italian civilians paying for German arrogance...By the way What is this doing at the Louvre? And why havent these been returned to Greece? And the Brits call these arrogantly the "Elgin marbles" Greece owes billions to the EU because Greece is socialist? Because Greeks are lazy? Yeah...real funny joke. Now...I dont get riled up on politics or on jokes involving political shyte, I laugh...but, I dont see where the joke is in this. Nazi Germany and MODERN Germany has really put the strangle hold on Europe, even France has felt that choke hold, Britain left the EU...BREXIT (mistake on their part or not), its telling that that joke really is not a joke, but a propaganda tool meant to silence the people that are pissed off... And you, being Italian, I wouldnt be making that kinda joke either. Germany has phoqued Italy plenty of times... It took the GREEKS during the end of the war to protect you in Greece from the Nazis!!! So...without this going deeper into poitics, I assure you that the "joke" you tried to tell, well, reality of it all is that Germany is the one that OWES billions to Italy, Spain and Greece for not playing fair... All the VW, Audi and Mercedes plants, Siemens and the like are all in Germany...Opel too. You know, formelly known by General Motors. Spain has VW owed SEAT that builds cars in Spain while Italy has its own automotive manufacturing. Greece relies heavily on olive oil and feta cheese. And tourism. And when the EU decides to buy these products on the low side of the price scale, you know, for the good of the EU, for Germans to eat, and when the economic bubble burst and Europeans and North Americans cease to travel, the billions that Greece makes from tourism is all but gone, and the billions that is owed to German banks for the Olympics and the infrastructure improvementfor Greece to host the millions of tourists...well, Greece gets into a funk...and Germany wants its money...through hell and high water...Germany wants its money. Germany wants to bleed the Greeks dry! Its not enough the looted her, bombed her, now they want all her money and treasure and bl;ood! But Im supposed to sit here and laugh? Because its a joke, right?
-
Yeah... Problem is... The Spaniard and the Italian had some sort of ties with the German in the past... The Greek, not so much... I would laugh at that "joke" if it werent for this... If Germany would actually pay Greece for all that above, plus all that Germany did during the first one in 1914...then Id have pity for Germany... And dont get me started with Greece's other European "allies" either...

Lincoln News: Lincoln Planning to Add Suicide Doors To Continental
oldshurst442 replied to William Maley's topic in Lincoln
I sooooooo wanted to love the Continental. Correction. I love the concept! I would have found a way to trade-in the Acura for a Continental had it been like the concept. Now...well, Im keeping my Acura as I love that car to death, but, BELIEVE me when I say that the Fusion Sport COULD BE a replacement vehicle for me had I was trading in my Acura tomorrow. (That or the new Buick Regal GS. In my opinion, the Regal GS is the TRUE successor to the Acura TL SH-AWD, NOT the TLX that Acura is peddling now) Why do I view the Fusion Sport MORE than a Continental? I dont think the extra $$$ is worth it to buy the Lincoln. Either in MKZ form or in Continental form. Yes. Yes. The Continental blows the Fusion away in luxury, details and the like. I just dont deem the Continental worth that extra dough. If I spending that kind of $$$ on a sedan. Im skipping the Continental. Im going elsewhere. Cadillac, Buick, BMW, Mercedes, Audi... If I wanna stay with FoMoCo, and yes I dont have ANY dislike for FoMoCo, Im keeping the extra cash in price difference between a Fusion Sport and the Continental and maybe I go to Vegas and blow the difference there. Bet it all on black or something... Yes. the 1st generation Fusion and Milan were nice lookin' vehicles too. Aged quite well. There is a regular customer that comes to my restaurant who has a Fusion sport. Black. Good lookin' ride. 260 HP and 250 ft./lbs torque 3.5 liter V6. Naturally aspirated! I LOVE THAT! My Acura has got a 3.7liter V6 with 300 or so naturally aspirated horses and 270 ft./lbs... I love me some naturally aspirated V6s. Turbos and superchargers are cool and all. I prefer naturally aspirated. Looks something like this Great looks! The 2nd generation DOES have some issues. The GREAT thing is FoMoCo is ANSWERING and REPAIRING all problems. So...my wife's Fusion is basically FLAWLESS. No problems with it. The recalls get sent. The dealership repairs. There hasnt been ANY issues before the recall repairs. So we are all good! I applaud FoMoCo for stepping up to the plate. Its just that its costing them money!- 67 replies

Lincoln News: Lincoln Planning to Add Suicide Doors To Continental
oldshurst442 replied to William Maley's topic in Lincoln
They COULD do it properly! Question is...are they GONNA? The Continentla did not keep the showcar quality dazzling details. There are a plenty. The stance. Longer wheelbase. I think the Edge is on the same platform, right? And I think the Edge might have a longer wheelbase, right? So what gives? The pristine and tight tolerances and the luxury car details. Concept down below. Look at the hood. THAT hood and front area SCREAMS luxury. Tight tolerance. The hood closure is sealed shut and is one with the whole top front end. The bottom chrome trim. The back wheel arches have a certain presence with that bulge. Muscular. Just impeccable luxurious details. What we got. And front end hood and area that is the same as in a Ford Fusion. No cleaned up chrome trim on the bottom. (That chrome trim was a helluva nice touch in my opinion.) No bulge at the rear wheel wells. The actual production car just seems like a very ordinary ride. The production car we got should have been the MKZ... Which low and behold...is what the MKZ actually is...(at least in the Continental and on the Fusion the hood area is more smoother...) Had the Continental we got be exactly like the concept, Lincoln would have had a hit on their hands...instead, it was just a more expensive MKZ (for nothing) which in turn is a more expensive Ford Fusion... Not good! (For the Continental and the Continental name plate...) So...on this platform, Do you really think suicide doors will actually improve the image of the Lincoln brand and the Continental name? If I was a bettin' man? What if I told you I wasnt gonna bet on FoMoCo either? I know that I said FoMoCo was NOT shyte... But they dropped the ball on the Fusion quality, they dropped the ball on the Continental. Trucks. Yeah. They sell a ton of those. Always have. The Navigator does NOT disappoint! The Continental however, does! The Navigator is all about the little details. The Continental, not so much!- 67 replies

Sure... But my partner's Model S is FLAWLESS... It happens. I could see various panel gaps on Fusions too. Some are tighter than others. My wife's Fusion. Not so tight. OK. Price does come into effect. My wife's Fusion was 26 000 CDN. The Model X is what? 85 000-95 000 CDN? Quality control is NOT up to par on both... THAT is all Im sayin'.- 67 replies

Lincoln News: Lincoln Planning to Add Suicide Doors To Continental
oldshurst442 replied to William Maley's topic in Lincoln
Quality control is a thing...for ALL companies...regardless of price. And...FoMoCo has been manufacturing cars, like, 4 Ev-R... No excuse for FoMoCo... Tesla...considering is still new at this, are doing not so bad...(but haterz gonna hate anyway...) Ferrari and Lamborghini in the 1990s were WORSE than Tesla... That would be both Italian companies in the car making business longer than Tesla is now as compared to those Italians in the 1990s. And...the Japanese fanboyz would be laughing at ANY American car company in the 1990s due to workmanship... So... Point being, dont be laughing at Tesla when others do the same shyte... Tesla's shyte stinks. But so does the other's shyte! About Lincoln... The Continental does not sell to what FoMoCo was expecting it to sell... Maybe the production Continental should have kept the tightness of the concept... The irony... The Continental is on the Fusion platform... The Fusion DID have trim problems...- 67 replies

This is where I was getting at, without actually saying it. And...as 1st hand experience with a FoMoCo product, I found it ironic that we are laughing at Tesla....with a possible photoshopped pic, maybe not, but I having a 1st hand experience anecdote, we are using a FoMoCo automobile to use as an example of fine workmanship... Not that FoMoCo is shyte, but with this generation Fusion... YIKES! Now... I recommend the Fusion for ANYBODY to buy. Id even trade-in my Acura TL for a Fusion Sport, but laughing at Tesla using FoMoCo as an example of how to do...I dont think so, Tim!- 67 replies
