  1. Ill do yet another one. Im enjoying searching for and pics of airplanes for a change. I KNOW this aint it either, just doing this for pure fun for you folk and for me. The single wing. Bi-Planes and Tri-Planes are sooooooo WW1. Single wings started out just before WW2 in the 1930s. Front air splitters
  2. Unless of course we are talking about air scoops on the underbelly of the aircraft... To airscoops anywhere on sports cars? Ram Air hoods, Ram air scoops.....airflow pass throughs.....
  3. Well....I also thought about the 20 year thing placing the era at 1995 as well, but because I know my aircraft well, I know that airplanes in 1995 were not exactly new. All the designs in 1995 that flew were from the 1970s. F-16, F-18, MiG 29...And these airplanes were massaged designs from the 1960s such as the F-15 and MiG 25... Even the SR-71 is from the 1960s...the 1980s and 1990s were just about enhanced versions of the 1970s aircraft. Yes, this is an oversimplified revision, but this aint a history lesson on military aircraft either... But the next generation aircraft..like the Stealth Bomber and the F-117 started in the 1990s and that is why y first post went to the SR-71 (first attempt at stealth) and to the F-117 with Lamborghini. Sharp edges on cars is also used by Cadillac and Acura. Hardly industry wide, but I took a shot. Yeah....I have nothing. I gave it all that I had. I have no idea what 1995ish airplane design made it into cars today. Like I said, the F-16, F-18 and MiG 29 were 1970s designs that what we have today are just better avionics and eletronics on these aircraft. The Stealth stuff is truly late 1980s, 1990s stuff. The we get the delta winged Mirages from the French. 1960s. Sorry, 1950s as Canada did the Avrow Arrow. EDIT I see that it is indeed the WW2 era.... . OK...bubble canopies... The Spitfire and P-51D started with the bubble canopy thing. What? Wrap around windshields and/or bubble top roofs? On modern cars? They both have some sort of bubble top roof....
  4. Okay...Ill do another: But this one is just for fun as I know this is not it. The Jet engine one is a legit response and guess. I like this thread so Id like to continue posting pics of airplanes.... Junkers Ju-87 Stuka and Vought F4U Corsair With Gullwing doors and scissor doors
  5. Or....And I know you said same era as the P51 Mustang...which is WW2 propellar era. But the jet age did start during WW2, so....not only did Oldsmobile do the rocket theme logo and Rocket 88 name plates... Ford had afterburner tail-lights in the 1950s and 1960s Chrysler actually did have a turbine engine in their car and stylized accordingly And modern Ford....
  6. What I find amusing is that when Tesla's Elon Musk talks a big game, he is said to be a magician. Smoke and mirrors.... When fossil fuel automotive CEO freaks talk a big game about EVs, not as much as a hint of negativity is thrown that way.... Yet...VAG(Porsche, Audi, VW and the rest), nor Mercedes have a pure EV on the market as we speak and their projects are at least another 2-3 years away. We give Elon shyte for the Model 3 that is 2-3 years away, and ironically will probably be sold at that 50-60 thousand dollar threshold as SMK has stated, but probably a tad cheaper and a very capable P100 could be bought RIGHT NOW! Plus the lesser battery Model S P##s for cheaper than the big gun P100... To boot, VAG, BMW, M-B throw out EV performance numbers that their EVs will possibly be doing 2-3-4-5-6-7 years from now that a P100 actually does RIGHT NOW!!! *SIGH* Yeah. Yeah. When the rest of the automobile industry makes a Tesla Model S fighter, Tesla will fold........... 'When and if' arguments just kill me!
  7. @Frisky Dingo You snooze, you lose Frisky... @dfelt @ccap41 Aston Martins are just pure class...Clark Gable, Gary Cooper, Fred Astaire.
  8. What if the owners/operators of the speed tracks get a Tesla supercharger two at the track itself? Food for thought.. You know....charging a Tesla after ludicrous quarter mile passes aint that big of a deal when some cars use the same amount of time to cool off... I couldnt find a better pic, but it is common for turbo cars to sit out a couple of runs with ice bags on the intercooler to cool off to have better runs... So....In my personal opinion, battery loss is a non-issue when in ludicrous mode at a race track. It may be an issue on the open road and your foot is heavier than usual and your anticipated and calculated range falls short...
  9. B-25 Mitchel Or B-24 Liberator with the dual vertical stabilizers and the Fins of the Fifties... But....modern fins as well
  10. Either the SR-71 Or the F-117 With Lamborghini
  11. OK...so... A decade or so ago...I was an Oldsmobile kinda guy. If Oldsmobile still existed today, Id be buying myself Oldsmobiles...If I was alive in the 1950s and 1960s as a young professional, Id be buying myself Super 88s, Cutlass 442s and Toronadoes. Gentleman's hot rods were made by Oldsmobile... Seeing as this brand does not exist anymore, I tried to become an Acura guy. Well. Piss on me for that! Be as it may...Acura does have one interesting car at this price range that Id buy. But, before I mention what that Acura may be, I am also an Aston Martin kinda guy...I like to think myself as a gentleman. A classy debonair kinda guy and thank the lord Aston Martin still exists and I could play this game with pride! Aston Martin DB11 OK OK....I know...I know...MSRP starts at $215 000 Don't you worry don't you fear when the Aston Martn Vantage still exists for 2016... V8 or V12...does it look like I give a phoque???!! (not very gentlemanly choice of words there...Bite Me!) And then there is the Acura NSX that I wouldn't mind having. Exotic Car for the discreet gentleman. Let us be it be clear with that...Aston Martin waaaaaay before the NSX Acura though. Dodge Challenger Hellcat plus Dodge Viper to attain the minimum requirement of 150 000 waaaaaay before Acura NSX....Got it? GOOD!
  12. And on a related note when I was looking for a gorilla dominance fight with another gorilla gif (which I did not find), I came across this gif: Even gorillas dont approve of human behavior. I think she thinks that that human baby is a bad influence on her baby....and she wants her kid to stay the phoque away from that badly behaving human.
  13. Well. I apologize for my behavior in that thread. As for your real life stuff: There are things you could control and there are things that are out of your control. Take care of the stuff the best you can that are in your control and for the other stuff that you have no control over, just dont sweat about it. Manage the things the best you can. And yes, sometimes its best to take a couple of steps back for a day and the solutions just present themselves when you do come back. Taking a step back allows for the brain to reset and you think much clearer that way. As for the thread being locked down. It was the right decision. It was going nowhere fast. Just chest thumping bickering much like gorillas do to show alpha male dominance...
  14. I hope it wasn't because of me in the Cadillac Escala thread... I know I don't help much when I do that and I try to limit that shyte on my end. Its just that I couldn't resist poking him the way he was poking us....and by us I do mean the innocent bystanders having to read that stuff. I was a good boy in that thread up until I responded to him...and I haven't been in trouble with the law in a long time. OK...the crap with El Kabong a couple of weeks had nothing to do with CheersandGears, just a by-product of an old forum that has spilled in here since all of us came over here a couple of years ago He was an all ally at first, but since then he has soured me to the point where I cant tolerate the trolling on his end anymore either! And I just told him what is on my mind. Came clean with my thoughts. Aired out the dirty laundry that he exudes. Glad I got that off my chest. It was like a confession session.
  15. How did I miss this thread? Anyway... In what context do we choose? As a daily driver? As a week-end toy car? As a garage queen trophy display car? Either way, for me, the McLaren is a no! daily driver: Cadillac CTS-V or even the Dodge Challenger Hellcat. week-end toy car: Chevy Corvette Z06 or even the Dodge Challenger Hellcat. garage queen trophy display car: Dodge Viper or even the Dodge Challenger Hellcat. You know what? The Dodge Challenger Hellcat is really the #1 choice for me!
  16. Yeah.....Ive just about had it with retro looks too. Except maybe for the Challenger, I do need a substantial re-fresh on it though like the Mustang. The Mustang with me has another year or two left in the tank but. No go on the Camaro.
  17. Piss off yer wife and you will be pissin' in yer pants there Sparky....
  18. I dont want to be the bigger person. I WANT TO STOOP DOWN AS LOW AS YOU! I NEVER SAID I WAS THE BETTER PERSON. I WANT TO EMULATE YOU AND BE A JERK WITH YOU AS YOU ARE A JERK WITH US!!!! I DID SHUT YOU DOWN.... EXCEPT TROLLS JUST KEEP TROLLING ON....I AINT A MOD TO WARN YOU, SUSPEND YOU, BAN YOU.... I'm going to give you the same advice you gave me: Do yourself a favor and just walk away from this discussion. Keep this thread on track and actually be the bigger person here. Again, there is nothing all that important here, nothing you have to prove.
  19. If you mean "way too girly" as being: Hell Hath No Fury As A Woman Scorned, then yeah....electric powered cars and trucks could be really powerful and scary stuff....
  20. What I mean by 'Costco home'.... A home as big as a Costco. 4 car garage and a huge entryway in this case. so middle class North Americans could keep up with the Jones-es and forever be indebted. I sometimes get pissy this way as I sometimes serve jerks...
  21. Who said that Tesla is fixing the quarter mile times that dont need to be fixed? THAT is YOUR take on it.... REALITY is that Tesla IMPROVING their performance aspects of their sports sedan is no different from any other car manufacturer making their sports sedans or coupes faster. I guess Corvette fans should not have expected their C4 Vette to gain a LT5 or LT1 let alone all the performance advances 3 generations later!!! They should have been happy when the Crossfire V8 hitting 250HP....HEY! that was a helluva lot more horses than the smog era C3 right? And the 1979 C3 if I remember correctly hit some sales milestones... PLUS....315 miles on the P100. That is also an improvement... The Model S WONT struggle to sell.... WHY? Because the Model S has ALWAYS improved. Speed and range... 315 miles. 0-60 in 2.9 seconds... PORSCHE, M-B, BMW all have a HELLUVA LOOOOOONG WAY TO GO BEFORE THEY EVEN REACH 3-4 year old Tesla Model S P60s let alone the P100...
  22. The Germans, like you said, play that game, same with Ferrari. It is a game plan that works well for high priced, high profile brands. Not so much for the Chevys and Toyotas of this world. Tesla knows its customer base well and it serves their price strategy just right as there is a high demand for their cars. Cadillac on the other hand, needs to package their trim levels better so they dont get stuck with unsold cars on the lot and then discounting them. Hyper, you make it see like this pricing strategy that Tesla is going with is a bad thing. It is only a bad thing if customers are not willing to spend their money on all the little things...I figure you see this as nickel and dime-ing people. Well, it could very well be that, but people are WILLING to be nickel and dimed. That is how powerful the Tesla, Porsche, Ferrari brand is....and a few others of course. The network is slowing down? Whatever....it wont be too necessary in the near future....Bob Lutz had this to say in a Corvette question/answer period of all things at RoadandTrack: http://www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/a29598/bob-lutz-mid-engine-vette/ BOB LUTZ ANSWER: Probably not in our lifetime. Hydrogen is especially tough to transport and prevent boil-off. Electric vehicles will eventually be charged through embedded inductive rails in the freeway. Affordable EVs will have ranges of 400 to 500 miles in 10 years, obviating the need for a dense network of charging stations. Even with "quick charge" times of 25 to 30 minutes, several EVs showing up at once means someone will have to wait a few hours. That's hard to overcome. (I hear stories of Volt owners in charging queues being told to "buzz off; you've got gas" by the pure-EV owners.) He raises another problem though regarding Chevy Volt owners that may help you on your side of the argument though... The swapping battery fantasy has come and gone...well....the flying car fantasy has also become a myth...such is life with the automobile world. Many promises come and go in this domain.
  23. So....you admit to trolling. You also admit that the internets sometimes have less than truthful posts in them and you are a preacher of less than truthful posts....but in this thread you wanted to also be taken serious because you were posting your trolly shyte as a matter of fact all in the while being a condescending jack ass.... Yet you want people to heed your advice to chill out....while continuing to be a condescending jack ass. Truth is, you started this mess, people got upset with you, they hinted at you to stop trolling, you did not heed their advice to you when obviously they smelled your shyte the MICRO-SECOND you shat on us and you are gonna sit here telling us to chill out? HA! Dude, we know (CP, Surreal and myself) what trolls smell like. We had plenty of practice sniffing the likes of you out! One suggestion to you: If you gonna troll with us around, up your game big time because you are an amateur. PS: usually trolly stuff could be quite funny and entertaining.... This shyte you spewed was neither funny nor entertaining. I hope for Cheers and Gears sake and its followers that for the last 4 years you post in here that you are a better humorist and conversationalist that you have showed us in this thread (and in the Pokeman thread as well)...... In short: YOU SUCK!
  24. Today, we all want to drive the expensive cars. Not just 1 luxury nameplate, the whole family needs to have a luxury nameplated car. We want MULTIPLE big screen TVs, huge Costco square foot home, many many tech gadgets,7 dollar latte coffees and all bought by Visa or Master Card @ 19-20-21% interest, then when that debt load gets to big we consolidate, and we go to a line of credit @ 7-8-9% and when that debt load becomes too big we ask for a 2nd or 3rd mortgage on our house extending our right to pay off that Costco style home in about 80-100 years. And we bitch because we are poor and that our politicians don't do enough to secure our jobs at home because it seems that if we had a better paying job, we could just amass more credit too buy more useless junk...and we complain that an extra slice of tomato in a burger that the owner of the restaurant has to charge 50 cents is too much and we yell at him, for actually trying to make a living himself.
