  1. Yup. I am one of these types of guys. I could see how a manual transmission gives joy to people, I for one dont have that joy... Yes, yes...correct gear for heading into a curve (which may mean downshifting) at the perfect angle and speed, then exiting curve and possibly up shifting... Another scenario....downshifting to get those revs high and then blasting past another car in front of you while the engine is wailing.... Another scenario....power shifting slamming the gears into place preferably in a Ferrari style gated shifter...and the best of the best dont use a clutch.... You see....none of that does NOT amuse me... I find joy only in the power shifting slamming the gears into place preferably in a Ferrari style gated shifter scenario... The other scenarios...well, I am not a track car kinda guy... And to downshift to pass a guy...well, I prefer this scenario instead. I got me a muscle car... A FULLSIZED one or the official mid-sized type.... IM CRUISING nice and slow! Checking to see if there are any nice females around I could honk and whistle at....(yes...in 2017 that is sexual harassment...) Maybe I stop at a burger joint and buy myself a cheeseburger and milkshake...enjoying the sun and the Rock-N-Roll tunes on the radio....or reggae or Greek music...or just the gurgling sounds of my big cubic inch V8...meaning, Im paying more attention to my surroundings rather than the road itself...I get no kicks with the race car antics at 25 MPH...then all of a sudden, a douche bag in front of me with some sort of overpriced garbage decides he wants a piece of my American metal when all I do is just mash the pedal, anticipate the kickdown and leave the phocker in my dust....all the while hearing my V8 roar to life...and no effort was given...just a slight downward motion of the accelerator pedal... On the highway....a big American AUTOMATIC transmission V8 car = SMOOTH SAILING!!! On the highway especially on long road trips...a manual transmission car is usually left at the top gear for long periods of time... Besides....MOST American roads are STRAIGHT....no curves to really benefit the joys of shifting...AND...stop and go traffic puts a kink in the left foot clutch, right hand shift, left foot clutch, right hand shift, left foot clutch, right hand shift enjoyment every 2 seconds...
  2. I got to do some chores...Ill be back to finish this off. I got 2 more peeps to do.
  3. @balthazar I know he is a Poncho guy. Im Canadian. I give him exclusive Canadian Pontiac. (OK, they really are Chevys underneath with non Pontiac engines but Chevy engines and he is less of a Chevy guy than he is a Pontiac guy, but these Pontiacs are special in the Pontiac world non the less.) 1967 Pontiac Parisienne 2+2 Coupe The second car is tougher to do. He is a classic car guy so Ill just continue that way. Something about him and his posting style makes me believe he would enjoy this 1949 Buick Roadmaster convertible in that very same colour oomplete with the white walls!
  4. @A Horse With No Name Its tough to beat Frisky's lists...they are just, incredibly awesome choices and spot on 100% representative of the posters he chose. I dont thing Ill be able to match that... But...Ill try. This is how I view you. Incredibly calm, cool and collected. A smooth, class act gentleman. Jaaaaaaag XJ12 series III Its under rated as a status car, but If I restomod it for you to bring it into the 21st century, I think it be very represented of you and quite unique in this world. And something modern to continue that theme but a tad more sportier. Not exactly a Ferrari 308/328 of Magnum PI or Beverly Hills Cop magnitude. But hot and sexy and red and Italian just the same. Abarth 124 by Fiat via Mazda.
  5. @Frisky Dingo I LOVE the choices! You know me quite well. And yes, a BMW M6 convert is something I lust over. In the dream car garages, I choose LS 4rth gen Firebirds mostly but that Firehawk is sweeeeeeeet! So, in its your turn! Id be giving you a BMW M3 in return. I could be giving you an air cooled 911 of some sort, but the rules do say to do something different. You always choose a 911 in dream car garages. A 1995 mainland Europe only E36 M3 GT. I think an owner of this model separates the connaisseur and poseur and you, Frisky, are definitely the real deal. And for your new car: I know you loved your 4 Runner. Im giving you one back! You cant have my Unimog, but you'll have a TRD Pro at your disposal.
  6. @A Horse With No Name @dfelt Yeah. It is a neat feature. It also keeps track of how fast the car is traveling in real time. I knew of this when he bought his car a couple of years ago but I forgot about it until yesterday. @2b2 THANK-YOU! PS: It was a $1000 worth of maintenance.... PSS: Tesla gave him a Dodge Durango R/T as a loaner???!!! That is a WTF kinda of a loaner car. All other times his had another Model S.
  7. I had to go to work today...no day off as I thought I have! My partner had an issue with his Tesla Model S.... He brought it in at the Tesla Service Center for some maintenance work. So...As he was telling me...he was tracking his car for fun on his App thingy when he saw his car leave the Tesla Service Center to be found at the Montreal Bugatti Dealership. No big deal he thought as that is where Teslas get maintained sometimes...at the Bugatti dealership... Cool is what I thought when he told me! A while later, he checked upon his car again only to find it 6-7 miles away from the Bugatti Dealership parked in front of a private house... He called Tesla right away demanding to know where his car was! The folks at Tesla did not have an answer for him and that is when he phoned me to come and replace him so he could set things straight.... Turns out, the President of the Bugatti Dealership forgot something at his house so he took my partner's Model S to retrieve what he forgot at his home... So far, my partner is getting his maintenance done and changing his tires for free... Maybe other things too....he will pursue this further on Monday!
  8. I also added: But yeah....thanx for answering me. PS: I HOPE I DID NOT CAUSE TOO MUCH ANNOYANCE WHEN I JOINED THIS FORUM FOR YOU AND THE REGULARS! I FEEL GUILTY IN WHAT HAS TRANSPIRED IN HERE THE LAST WEEK OR SO AND ALTHOUGH I WASNT THE MAIN ISSUE, I CERTAINLY DID HAVE A PART IN THAT!!!
  9. A question... Its more like a hypothesis or an assumption. The people that whine about others and "run to tell teacher" are...Im guessing and assuming, THE ones that are THE problem. (more or less, most of the time) (Because Im sure regular posters are fed up so they complain too?) Am I right or wrong in this hypothesis?
  10. Not this wheel, this wheel goes scrape...scrape...scrape...
  11. I like because you put some thought into circumventing the rules!
  12. Nice! But Frisky dont like when we circumvent the rules! I should know....I almost always circumvent the rules and he lets me know about it!
  13. I still think about Oldsmobile and what could have been. (I think its time for me to let go though) From Buick's resurrection from the dead a few years back when it was only Lucerne, Lacrosse and Enclave and Buick quickly returned to relevance somewhat when they added Regal and Verano and Encore to the missteps that are happening now... And of course GM's health trumps all that, I still dont see myself driving a Buick. The design language does not speak to me. Its nice....but it aint sporty and elegant like Oldsmobile always was. (Minus the awkward Olds LSS Delta 88s and Achieva of the early 1990s before the Aurora came out) Chrysler from the 1990s all the way to today's 300 from the Concord, 300M, 300C, early 2000s Sebring coupe and Convertible had a certain desirability to them... Dodge with their muscle cars and muscular looks on all their vehicles from the Viper to the Challenger to the Charger to the Stealth to Intrepid to the Magnum to their DODGE RAM trucks also had a certain desirability to them. Much like Pontiac and Oldsmobile.... Chrysler having a slight edge on Oldsmobile and Dodge a slight edge on Pontiac... I am doing CURRENT what if scenarios with the Chrysler 300 in my mind with a successor to the 300 and ditto for the Charger and Challenger....let is not forget what Ralph Gilles could do with proper money and R&D for a Viper.... It is a shame that it was a short decade ago when the RWD 300 took North America by storm on a then older platform....
  14. Well...we have another thing common... Our town hockey clubs failed to make it past the 1st round!
  15. That is mine! You aint touching it! Id show it off to my Greek friends who all think they are high and mighty with their C Class M-Bs and dime a dozen BMW 3 Series.... They piss me off and I run them over with MY MERCEDES! More satisfying than doing it in a Ford as its a Teutonic Big Foot! Like this: PS: Ill do this tomorrow as I have a day off and I will be putzin' around the house doing nothing! More time to think!
  16. My dad rocked an Iron Duke Celebrity of 1986 vintage. AM radio...only 2 speakers that were on the dash and a bench seat up front...with column shift! At least it was a REAL bench seat and I really miss column shifts! That Iron Duke might have been gutless, but I buried the needle plenty of times..the speedo went only up to 140 KM/H but I did bury it....so maybe we could add another 20 KM/H to that 140???!!! Not too bad Id say!
  17. When FCA bought Chryco. I was happy. MOPAR gets to live. When Sergio green lighted the Viper I was extremely happy as I naively thought that Chrysler will get to live without any merger bullshyte like it was under the "Merger of Equals" and I was definitely naive about Chryco. being starved of cash like it was when it was under Bob Nardelli's outfit... Since then...there is not a day that goes by that I dont anticipate the sad day that will eventually come telling us that Chryco is no longer and that if Fiat is to survive then Chrysler and Dodge need to shutter down. And yes, with this news here....one step closer to that. Ram has already been separated from Dodge. Jeep is a brand that is on its own anyway...acquired by Chryco when Chryco bought AMC which AMC had bought Jeep from Kaiser.... So...Chrysler has literally no cars to sell..other than the 300 which is set to be discontinued. They have the Pacifica...a minivan....not a CUV Dodge has no cars to sell either. Just a couple of aging muscle cars... The CUVs and SUVs are all sold under name brands that Sergio just now mentions will be spun off... The Giulia platform....Sergio at one time DID say that Chrysler and Dodge WONT be getting it... I could only view this as sad news for a once proud American car company.... I guess it was either in 2009 or whenever the inevitable will happen. All this Sergio character do was just prolong the agony for Auburn Hills workers and line up his personal pockets further. False hope this was!!!
  18. Ford and Chevy and if FCA is still alive... They better start re-inventing the Pony Car as it might lose its relevance... Coupes are practically dead. The only ones that are still around are the ones with some sort of history. The V8 is becoming less and less relevant in every day, average joe people cars... The only V8s that are every day, average joe people cars are the Pony Cars... But...with turbo 4s as base engines in these cars and EVs being almost at the tipping point, it may not be too long for the classic American Pony Car to become extinct... The Demon from Dodge is a cry for help. One last hurrah. If FCA does not give it a new platform it will die off. If GM does not sell enough Alpha platformed cars....which includes the ATS....then the Camaro might die off...it happened before with the Camaro....don't think it might not happen again... The Mustang seems like the only one to stay relevant. But it WILL need to go EV soon enough as maybe Tesla will offer a competitor soon... Hey...don't laugh...the Tesla Roadster is said to get a new model....soon! Maybe a coupe variant will be in the works?
  19. Ford Explorer...HA! and YUCK! My TL was in the shop sometime in November for an airbag issue of some sort...I don't think it was a Takata thing and Acura was being very vague about it...but anyhoo, Acura tweaked something about my airbags all for free...like a recall... Anyway. The dealership gave me an Explorer to drive around in for a couple of days...new car. It only had 250 kilometers on it. WHAT A CRAPPY RIDE!!! Nothing against Ford...just against how crappy SUVs actually ride... The Explorer itself is well built. Fit and finish is standard within the industry. I don't know what trim Explorer I had...but it had the base wheels...whatever they might have been. 15 inchers...16 inchers...they looked small compared to what the vehicle size is... No...that is not a complaint... The complaint is that it rode very mushy. Unlike my 1985 Oldsmobile Delta 88 that was a joy to cruise around in, this wallowed and did not turn. It hardly braked and stopped. God...vintage American land yachts did a better job than this shyte! I mean...I had a blast doing that in the Oldsmobile...somehow, in the Explorer, there is a lost in translation somewhere. Never again will I ever drive an Explorer or a similar riding experience SUV...
  20. Will do! And I did not waste any time in accepting your suggestion of talking about cars and letting the infighting be a thing of the past!
  21. I would LOVE to own both actually. That Ferrari just screams exotic Italian awesomeness even by today's standards when today's Toyota Camry's spank it in almost every performance metric! But yeah, one needs deep pockets to maintain it. Deeper than buying a new Ferrari even!
  22. Grand Cherokee. All. The. Way.
  23. I too want Tesla to stick around. My partner's Model S is problem free so far, he had a couple of recalls, but my wife's Fusion is on 3 going on 4 recalls so....that is not a problem for Ford, why would a recall be viewed as a problem for Tesla? Therefore, when my 2012 Acura's time is up in 4-5-6-7 years time, a Model 3 is what Im looking at!
  24. Me....its in my name... OLDSMOBILE CUTLASS S CONVERTIBLE for me! Catching the tail end of the Olds in this scene!
  25. Its been a while seen Ive done this. I thought Id stop being part of the problem and start being part of the solution So....after watching a few movies and seeing awesome cars and witnessing a few gems on the road as well....maybe its time to do this again. I saw Beverly Hills Cop II a while back and 2 of my all time faves are front and center in this movie. So....what would you pick? Axel Foley's deep undercover car in Detroit? 1986 Ferrari 308 GTS Or Axel''s deep, deep.....DEEP undercover car in Beverly Hills? 1968 Olds Cutlass S convertible
