Yeah. the Bolt will do pretty well, I think. I'm excited to see what else they put out as they're supposed to have a handful more EV's come out in the next few years. I'm ready for an EV that looks good that isn't Tesla priced or maybe an "actual" SUV that's Escape-sized. It's still hard to believe they didn't go the compact SUV route in the first place with how big those sales numbers are.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks it's somewhat deceptive advertising.

Yeah, especially considering it's a little larger and higher off the ground with, assuming more suspension travel, eating that power a little more. So it still wouldn't be GTI quick but I think it'd be a more attractive package.

But not "out the door" because taxes are required.

It is scammy when there is a lot more cash required to drive the vehicle "out the door". Just because in the dealership world it means "you still have things to pay for" doesn't mean that's what it means for any other retail product you buy. I know you included "before taxes" and that's why it doesn't make any sense to word it that way to me.. Out the door before additional fees. What's another retail product that is advertised that way?

In IL we pay taxes at dealerships. The internet should know your tax rate based on your license's address. The only reason I didn't pay taxes when I bought my Escape in MO was they said they don't do out of state taxes, which made sense. That's not the most accurate way of advertising, imo. If it wasn't a tens of thousands of dollars purchased it would make sense. Add a low 6% sales tax on that $27,000 vehicle as it's a $28,620 vehicle. They'll do registration but won't do taxes... The best way to word that, imo, is "27k before taxes" or "27k before tax, title license" Not "out the door". It's a dealership type of thing to do. Same here in IL. And literally NO facet of retail advertises "out the door" pricing either. Dealerships are scammy and this is one reason why. Then it is also not 27k out the door if there's a trade-in so that's a stupid argument. A trade-in completely changes everything and an advertised price doesn't really mean a whole lot.

I hate when dealerships word things like that.. It's not 27k out the door because taxes must be paid. It's just 27k with dealer fees.

I know it's me being a little picky but I with this had the GTI's engine to go with the rest of the car. It seems like a pretty sweet vehicle. There's actually one of those in that underground parking lot here at work as well.

Part of that problem is a double edged sword.. Be safer so they make wider, thicker pillars. But we want to learn how to drive better but we can't see out of these cabins anymore. My Escape had a wicked blind spot at the back because they had itty bitty rear windows but they sat up so high that a car could literally be below the window when I look back and miss it if I didn't use the mirrors as well. You used to just be able to turn your head and look with your own eyes now we almost have to use multiple things/systems to make sure we're clear. This would cover parallel parking and the curb as well. That works great with an SUV with some sidewalls on their tires but that can't be done in like any car. or one with lower profile wheels were there's less give in the tire and it might not be angled just right to go up on the curb.

I've always been able to parallel park my vehicles but I could see it being very useful on larger CUVs with wicked blind spots.

You're not forced to use active park assist if the vehicle is equipped with it.

Just because others do it doesn't make me like it in a Buick.. Sweet, Benz offers a n/a V6 as well. I don't like that either. That's literally the last Benz with a n/a 6cyl as they know there's greater benefits to a turbo 6. Buick is plastered w/ them. It isn't news that a Buick is a bargain brand compared to Benz so I'm not sure why the comparison. Acura offers a hrbrid MDX, Infiniti is in worse shape with an old 3.5 V6 as well. Apparently n/a V6's are a thing in this class. Not my cup-o-tea. Sorry, there's just zero appeal in the current Buick lineup. While they look better than they did a few years ago they still have an old people vibe to them and, in my opinion, they don't differentiate themselves from Chevy enough to justify the premium. The new GS is sharp as hell though, so there's that.
-
Sure as heck are. Effortless torque is absolutely fancy. That's one reason EVs will/are be so nice.
-
I'm not disputing that. I'm just glad their newest offerings have engines to distinguish themselves and not weak n/a v6's. Everybody has moved away from them for a reason. Okay, it has torque.. as long as you give the engine revs. Not the fanciest of engines to put in a luxury-like branded vehicle.
-
Oh yeah that n/a v6 is plugged into everything.. hello torqueless.. Why in the world is the XTS on the 6spd and the Buick get the 8spd??? I'm not saying it should be directly competing with Lincoln. They're both of the badge-job styles so they tend to be compared quite often. Yep, they're very fancy Chevrolets. The one legitimately cool Buick!
-
Something you can still get in a Toyota though. This is like the highlight of the lineup. The 2.0T in the Verano was awesome and it could be had with a 6spd. Everything else... More blah blah blah than worth talking about. Yeah, they're nice vehicles. That's about it.. Their brand new has much "younger" styling which helps but prior to that they even looked like they're for the 50+ crowd. I'm glad you corrected me but still outside of the Verano and Regal all the engines are shared with the same tunes. They do gain AWD, which is neat. But they're the Mercury of Ford. "Meh" is their whole lineup. Do they have a single vehicle with 300hp or 300tq? Even Lincoln has multiple offerings with that..
-
Cruze Malibu Impala Trax --- Traverse None of those are something I want.. I just don't like Buick products. They're actually lesser products to me than Lincolns.. At least Lincoln is trying to be a real luxury brand and not just a Mercury-like brand. There isn't much that is making these so different than their Chevy counterparts that they aren't rebadges. Yes, they're done much better than the 90's-00's but they're still almost identical products with different body panels.

Probably pretty high on Fords as I see Titaniums quite often. I'd only assume similarly for Chevy. Then again the Titanium name has been watered down ever since 2013. That mean fully loaded at one point and now it means there are a bunch of options on it and a bunch more you can still add.. Okay, not as bad as I thought. I went to Ford's website and built an Escape titanium and it started at 32k and I added every option(that wasn't floormats and cargo nets) and it got up to 35k. I know at one point the 2.0T was an option for Titaniums.

i just don't want my vehicles built in China. I also don't care if Buick were to go the way of Oldsmobile as they don't really offer anything I like. They're just re-badged Chevys.. they don't have anything specific to themselves, unless that wagon is coming here. That's cool as sh!t.
