Neat to look through but that's also a 2011 article, for what it's worth.

Part of Cadillac's problem is image though.. Racing helps build a reputation and image that noting else really can. Will it help? I cannot answer that. But I think if they're successful it will help their brand's image.

" It's a golden autumn morning in rural upstate New York. Backpacked kids wait by mailboxes for the school bus. I'm driving through pockets of valley mist to New York state's most famous racing circuit, to witness the shakedown testing of a race car so top-secret, it's still wrapped in camouflage. After a 14-year absence, Cadillac is readying its return to endurance racing. The last time the American automaker competed in top-level prototype racing was 2002, when the ill-fated Northstar LMP finished 9th at Le Mans. Audi's dominant R8 prototype notched its third consecutive victory at the Circuit de la Sarthe that year. Wayne Taylor and Max Angelelli were co-drivers in that final Cadillac attempt at Le Mans. They'll both be at the track today. Taylor, 60, has graduated from the driver's seat to run Wayne Taylor Racing, the principal team partner in Cadillac's new motorsports endeavor; Angelelli, 49, shares co-driving duties with Taylor's sons Ricky, 26, and Jordan, 24. All four will be responsible for the imminent future of Cadillac endurance racing, in a program that tasks itself with making top-level sports car racing engaging and relatable again. I'm here to learn if Cadillac, and the series itself, can cut it. The camouflaged Caddy you see here is officially known as the DPi-V.R. It's built to IMSA's new Daytona Prototype international (DPi) formula, to compete in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship starting in 2017. Think of DPi as an effort to make top-level prototype racing a little more interesting, and relatable, for casual race fans. The cars share a chassis with the LMP2 prototypes that compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, built by one of four approved constructors—Dallara, Onroak Automotive, ORECA or Riley/Multimatic. ..." http://www.roadandtrack.com/motorsports/news/a31697/cadillac-dpi-v-r-exclusive-photos/

From what I can see an Impala started at 23,800 in 2009 and worked it's way up over 31K with the SS. Today's Impala starts at 27,300. $3500. Almost like I said, a couple/few hundred bucks per model year. 36-30 isn't an exaggeration but in a THREE year span, it most certainly is.

lol I saw this yesterday.. Nothing else to really say other than "WHAT THE F*CK??" People are such pieces of sh!t.

It would extend the brand upward with more prestige, I would think. As opposed to maintaining their ground. At least I thought the Wagoneer was supposed to basically be a luxury Jeep to compete with the GL/Escalade/Rovers of the world.

I thought the same thing. How was this not THE first thing to look into before working around the platform the rest resides on? Another well executed plan by FCA..lol

I thought that as well. It definitely doesn't look like the current S Class at all. Personally, I love the looks of Mercedes' interiors. They may be bland or whatever to people but I love the simplicity.

Haha I know I know! Sorry I've just been busy with school and work.. not a whole lot of spare time..

Come on up to the St. Louis area where Frisky and I live, there are a few microbreweries here and then we could also hit up the Anheuser Busch tour as well.

If it's like an iPhone interface, I'd buy it. Simple and clean design. Not overly complicated and filled with BS that isn't needed. I agree to taking their complains with a grain of salt but when they have been as consistent as they have been with CUE it should be taken as a heads-up warning. Hahahaha that's a hilarious way to put it!

I didn't think the owners were required to sell them back unless you lived in a place that does emissions testing in which you pretty well have to.
-
Oh absolutely cheaper! And.. because I have gone through enough cars and spaced apart properly this will only be my second set of tires bought in my 12 years of driving so I really can't complain too much. I'm really hoping to continue to power pay down my loan and possibly have it paid off with next Christmas's bonus from work. Or a student loan.. either one really. Less loans the better.
-
There have to be some on the used market, right? Or is everybody hoarding them to sell them back? Haha yeah doubling your mileage will help out A TON! Is your Bug 2.0? or 1.8?
-
As this is easily the lamest vehicle I've purchased it is the one that I've been the most content with and not looking to get rid of after only a year or so. Only downside.. as the 60k miles approach, so does a new set of tires. That'll set me back 900-1000 bucks.

Happy 2 year anniversary to myself from when I bought my Escape...lol 11/29/2014 was the purchase date.

Well, I never finished this list.. Still tough to narrow it down but I'm going to go with this list.. I'll get the daily out of the way first.. Mix it up a bit as well. I think if I actually were doing this the F-Pace would be the daily but I'd have to go drive them all to really decide. Audi SQ5 - 354hp Terminator Cobra - "390hp" Supra - 320hp E46 M3 - 333hp 1970 Pontiac GTO - "350hp" Really sad I couldn't get cars like a WS6 or an F-Type Coupe in there. I think I would have regretted not having at least one old school cruiser/muscle car. Also disappointed I didn't put a Ferrari 360 in there but I know damn well it wouldn't be driven as much as say the Supra or M3 would and I want these cars to be taken out and driven not just garage queens.

This is fairly tough and that's only because of the name "Bentley". I think the S Cab. looks fan-freakin-tastic and I'm not much of a 'vert fan. My first instinct was to go the AMG route so I'll just stick to that instinct. I LOVE how AMG's sound and their subtle looks will leave them underrated. I'll fly under the radar in an S63 Cab.
-
That's just difficult to believe (as long as it wasn't wrecked or any major work done to it to repair something). Dang, you do quite a bit of driving, don't you?? I only average 1,000 miles a month, lol.

Reliability is one thing for me that is suuuuper difficult to judge a purchase on.. like.. I still love the Golf in multiple outfits( regular, GTI, R, TDI) and I don't think their reputation would sway me but at the same time once something does go wrong(out of the ordinary) I will be kicking myself for it. Then it is likely not worth 5k today then.. right? I can't imagine a car worth so little can depreciate 80% in 3 years time unless it gets trashed in those three years.

Whoa! I'm a little late to the party but Happy 49th Mr. @dfelt! I hope your Sunday was a good one!
-
I'm genuinely glad that you have never had issues with CUE but you seem to be in the minority with that.

I've always made payments over the minimum for this reason as well. Not always to the extent you are but I don't like the idea of ever being upside down in my car. Speaking of all of this.. I sent off another car payment today(250 minimum - 300 paid) and I owe after this payment about $9200 and I looked up the trade-in and private party value of the ole Escape and they range from about 13000-17000 depending if I'm trading it in on the low end or selling it outright on the high side. Yeah... Isn't that what a credit and debt to income ratio check are for?
