Nissan News: 2018 Nissan Leaf Boasts More Range and Lower Price
surreal1272 replied to William Maley's topic in Nissan
So while you admit that CUVs are the bulk of sales, you think going with the declining sedan market as an EV, is the way to go? Seriously? Let me ask you something. Which would sell better? A Tesla 3 sedan or A Tesla 3 crossover? And again, you sidestepped the fact that the Tesla Model S is a hatch that outsells the sedan only S Class. I'll the bar here for you to move at your leisure. -
The really did. There are ten different design elements slapped on it and none of them work.

In fairness, the Terrain is a mess from every angle, as far as the exterior is concerned. A huge letdown.

Nissan News: 2018 Nissan Leaf Boasts More Range and Lower Price
surreal1272 replied to William Maley's topic in Nissan
First off, ease up there. Second. The Equinox is the oddball of your group since it is a CUV and shares the same versatility. Third, he asked why they were selling it as a hatch (nevermind the fact that the Leaf has ALWAYS been a hatch) when they are "low sellers". I answered with "versatility" and pointed out the fact that the Model S is also a hatch. Why didn't he ask why Tesla gave the S a hatch when it first came out? Because it would kill his argument because the S has sold very sell, even outselling his precious S Class. Versaitility counts for something for folks who don't want a damn CUV. Not sure what is so hard to understand about it, to the point that you bring up something completely unrelated in this context. Finally, what is informed by him, is that companies like GM and others are planning the very thing he is talking about. It's this little thing called choice but to pan on a car (the Leaf) that has always been a hatched is just silly IMO. I will take a versatile hatch over and equal sedan any day personally. Ok then indeed. -

surreal1272 replied to William Maley's topic in Nissan
Versatility for those who see through the marketing BS that is a CUV. Don't know why this makes no sense to you given your stated dislike for CUVs. BTW, the Tesla S is a hatch so what was your argument again? -
Tap your heels three times and see if it doesn't change the facts. No? Then you have your answer and your answer is wrong. Keep making up excuses here but cars that are not cross shopped, don't get compared by multiple publications and car shopping sites. Sorry to break it you. Remember, since there is no more Verano, this is what Buick buyers will cross shop against the Regal if they are interested in a Benz as well so keep being delusional and downright mad that a Benz would ever be compared to a poor old Buick but dems the facts. It is what happens when you aim for the lower end market like the CLA does. Just until the A Class comes out. What will your excuses be then?

Deflecting and feel free to reference several comparos involving both cars. Even car shopping websites confirm it. Deal with it. http://www.newcars.com/reviews/buick-regal-vs-mercedesbenz-claclass-sedan.html For comparos sake https://www.google.com/amp/www.motortrend.com/cars/bmw/3-series/2014/entry-level-luxury-sedan-comparison/amp/

The Regal most certainly competes with the CLA, meaning that Benz does compete with Buick on this level. Fact.

Good grief. Are you still harping on this? He laid, pretty clear, why he fits in the Bolt than the Murano yet you call him "full of $h!". Do you hear yourself?

Fiat News: No One Wants To Take FCA Says Marchionne
surreal1272 replied to William Maley's topic in Fiat
Stop deflecting Stew. The numbers are right there in front of you. These aren't shell game rebates that local dealers throw out like candy (that aren't really rebates and you know that). The link I provided are straight manufacturers rebates and FCA has them in spades. Make whatever deflecting argument you want but it does not change the facts. One was already pointed out, thank you and I clearly missed the Trax as well. However, FCA is represented accross the board there and there is no denying that no matter how much deflection given by Stew.- 35 replies

Fiat News: No One Wants To Take FCA Says Marchionne
surreal1272 replied to William Maley's topic in Fiat
Oops. My mistake on the Silverado while Chrysler and Dodge cars are all in the top 40 (with a healthy dose of Jeep being represented there). It also doesn't change the sales increase argument. Guess you forgot that because the increased sales are clearly not due to new product. That's the point you are skipping over here.- 35 replies

Fiat News: No One Wants To Take FCA Says Marchionne
surreal1272 replied to William Maley's topic in Fiat
It is still the same basic design though and all FCA is doing is giving a band aid to a leper when what he needs is new legs. Sorry. We will not see eye to eye but my link to the rebates being offered right now shows the reason for the sales uptick because it sure as bell isn't because of new product.- 35 replies

surreal1272 replied to William Maley's topic in Fiat
True as the Charger is the competitor for the Impala. You can't compare the 300 to the LaCrosse at this point though, escpecially since the LaCrosse actually got a redesign.- 35 replies

All base cars are $h!. Now about those discounts. Take a look here and you will not see one Chevy in the top 30 of rebates (have to get to no.40 for that). FCA is well represented though so don't give me this "all makes have discounts" because clearly some are offering larger discounts than others, with Ford and FCA at the top of the pack. http://www.realcartips.com/news/0743-biggest-car-rebates.shtml- 35 replies

Fiat News: No One Wants To Take FCA Says Marchionne
surreal1272 replied to William Maley's topic in Fiat
And that is a top tier you are showing for the 300. Your point because what I see is the same basic design and materials overall? Circa 2012. All they really did was change some buttons and the shifter while keeping the cheap looking faux wood. Big whoop for a car that was long overdue for a change. The Impala may not be your cup of tea and it is not without flaws, but it looks far newer because it actually is. Sorry.- 35 replies

Fiat News: No One Wants To Take FCA Says Marchionne
surreal1272 replied to William Maley's topic in Fiat
So they just gave a third color option on top of the same design this car has had since 2011. The nice quilted leather does not hide the dated dash design and faux wood trim in the center. I still love the looks of the outside and that V8 but you spend most of your time looking from the inside, not the outside and the inside of this is a mess now, as well as being dated. This still looks better from the inside. Do you not look at the massive discounts they are using to sell of these models as well as the fact that they have lost half of their models since FCA bought them, all because you refuse to take off those rose colored glasses? It goes both ways Stew.- 35 replies

Can't sell what no one wants, especially when you won't part with the only brand that's actually making you money (Jeep) and have shown a clear pattern of neglect towards two other brands (Dodge and Chrysler).- 35 replies

Again, you are wrong. You want to compare Mercedes sales to Cadillacs yet a certain percentage of Benz sales are commercial and vans. How is that relevant to Cadillac? Furthermore, Cadillac is not GMs only competitor for Mercedes. We have already talked about how Buick has the Regal that competes with Benz FWD offering CLA and soon you can add yet another FWD A Class to that mix. Delude yourself into thinking that they don't compete but I promise you they do. When you are throwing around Mercedes Benz sales totals, you have to compare to GM not Cadillac. It's that simple. You want to compare the E Class to the CTS or CT6? Relevant. You want to compare Benz total sales to just Cadillac? Not relevant. Again, it's that simple. And your "original statement" was wrong from the get go, hence why we are here now. You were wrong then and you are wrong now.

Far less than GM which is what you should be comparing it to. Not even a valid bar move SMK. The Bolt sold more last month than all four Benz models combined for the YEAR. And I thought Cadillac wasn't worth comparing to Mercedes. Guess that was just a lie you had to tell yourself.

Again, refer to all those decades of non-luxury from the supposed luxury standard of the world (that has never been called a "performance" brand). Ignore all the evidence that points to complete $h!boxes from Mercedes for over four decades while you try to levy the same statements against Cadillac. Hell, here's an article about the quickest cars during the 70s. Note the absence of anything from Benz while GM has three. http://www.caranddriver.com/flipbook/car-and-driver-tested-the-10-quickest-cars-of-the-1970s#11 Just stop trying to move the bar already and accept facts. Benz was putting out $h! cars that did not qualify as luxury (and performance for the most part) for decades just like Cadillac was in the 80s and 90s. "You don't need a V8" yet you just ragged on Cadillac for having only one (they have two models with V8s btw). This is that bar moving BS that I'm talking about.

That is just grade A bull$h! SMK. If that were truly the case, you wouldn't be on here, on every GM or Cadillac thread, comparing MBs sales and models to them. Just drop that nonsense right here and now. SMK seems to think that the history between Cadillac and Mercedes is only 25 years old, which about the time Benz actually started making their cars more upscale. I love how you think that one can only be a performance car if you have a V8. Porsche must have missed that memo when they built the 911.

Really? Like the coupe style CUVs that don't sell worth a damn? Did it ever occur to you that Cadillac doesn't have to cover everything that Benz does when you make these asinine sales comments? For example, we already know that the Regal competes (and has beaten in comparos) the CLA. Point being that Cadillac is not GMs only weapon against Benz and you need to understand that key point before hammering down these silly sales arguments.

Yeah, it's real impressive until you realize that they have more than twice as many models to sell as Cadillac. You better be ahead at that point.
