Fiat News: Rumorpile: A Fiat 124 Coupe Is Said To Be In the Works
surreal1272 replied to William Maley's topic in Fiat
That's good about the tranny but I'm very old school with Fiat. I remember why they had to stop selling in the country three decades ago. I just don't trust their motors at all. If the 1.4L changes that, then that is a good start for them. Now if they could just stop screwing everything else up. -
Fiat News: Rumorpile: A Fiat 124 Coupe Is Said To Be In the Works

Isn't the 124 using a Fiat tranny and motor? If so, I'm not sure how that makes it as reliable as the Miata. It actually does look better in person though. I pass by a Fiat dealership everyday and see four or five of those by the road and they have actually grown on me. I still wouldn't have one (or the Miata for that matter) but it is definitely the nicest looking Fiat out there. -
Understandable. No worries on my end. My status updates are just a way for me have a little fun and vent a little from time to time.

Comment self removed because I don't talk to petty children.

Accidental discoveries are fun. That's how I learn half the time lol.

So it appears that you can now see who up voted or down voted your post. A very nice feature indeed. Also, the I like the overall look and feel of the new site. Some of the new features and layout changes take a little getting used to but it is a welcome change. Again, nice job Drew.

Some thoughts are not so random.

Way to overdramatize what I'm saying. Cadillacs sales position is irrelevant. Like Balth said, most people are not concerned with how many cars are sold every month. That's only for bean counters and trolls who have no other argument, especially when they ignore ALL the other facts, like the fact that Cadillac doesn't need all those CUVs when they are only a part of the bigger picture which is GM.

I'm going to repeat this until you finally get the hint. Cadillac does not need five CUVs.

I understand what you're saying but it looks nothing like the 200 IMO.

Which Chrysler? Sure doesn't look like any Chrysler I've seen.

My point exactly. He acts like Cadillac is a stand alone brand that has to do everything like Benz and BMW when it is exactly the opposite.

They do not need five CUVs They are part of GM, which offers them across the board while Benz and BMW have to offer that many being singular brands with no other branches like GM. How many times does the same thing have to be said to you before you get the hint?

Don't understand the light issues some are having. It's just a concept and those kind of lights will never see production. Overall, I like what I see here and the numbers are a plus. It measures longer than the S class while having way more cargo room. That's a nice start in my book.

So you don't even know if they will actually build it (they won't build anything near that come production time) yet you think it's Tesla killer? You do understand the term "vapor ware" right?

So, a sure to be more than $300K MAYBACH (stop sugarcoating it here) is your convincing argument against a $100K Tesla? I have no words.

Of course Tesla won't do it. Who would have thought that an EV car company would not build a gas powered V12? Good grief man. What kind of comparison is that? What this V12 overpriced Benz has to do with competing in the EV market I haven't the foggiest.

That concept is also not an EV nor did I read any mention of it so it's pretty pointless to call out Tesla on it.

So Tesla doesn't have a concept car that has yet to be been announced, much less released? Excuse me if I'm not convinced here. It also screams Buick Avista to me just on first look.

Oh good grief. Who cares (referring to the both of you)? You both participated in the same conversation on a Random Thought thread. Moving along...had an Bangle era 7 series behind me this morning and forgot how butt ugly that car was in the front. Simply hideous.

You keep telling yourself that. Doesn't make it true but by all means, keep telling yourself that Mercedes isn't worried about Tesla. Either way, late to the game. Where is Cadillac, Lincoln, Acura, Lexus, JLR, and the rest of them? They don't even have electric cars in development yet. As far as you know they do not have anything in development, but they very well could. Remember this is a company that caught the whole world with their pants down when they showed off the BOLT and announced it going into production. The BOLT forced Tesla's hand in regards to the T3 and it also is forcing all auto companies to move forward with an EV. Cadillac very well could have a whole group of EV's on the drawing board that you and the rest of us know nothing about. MB is reacting to the fact that Tesla S is making inroads into their top end line of auto's. More and more people buy a Tesla over an S model from MB. Tesla Model S sold 50,300 units worldwide in 2015. The S-class was close to 100,000 the past 2 years. Tesla also has the only electric performance car on the market, what happens when there are 5 cars in that segment? I also read the average transaction price of a Model S is $79,000 vs $106,000 for an S-class, so we have a bit of a gap there. You do understand the distinction that he made when he said that more and more people are buying the Tesla right? It doesn't mean Tesla sold more but more people are now picking it over the S Class.

Either way, late to the game.Daimler used to own 8% of Tesla but sold it. They know what Tesla is but they aren't going to abandon 2 million sales a year to chase 50-100k electric sales. Mercedes will have 10 plug in hybrids by next year, they have 3 for sale right now, so they offer electric driving already, just not pure EV besides the b-class that no one wants. The 4 EV's are coming and at a good time when the market will want them.Where is Cadillac, Lincoln, Acura, Lexus, JLR, and the rest of them? They don't even have electric cars in deleopment yet. Again, you keep telling yourself that. The fact that they are creating this sub brand says otherwise though.
