  1. They didn't call it that but they faced the same criticisms of brand dilution. That is what you are not understanding here in your quest to, yet again, bash a domestic car.
  2. Will the Maybach name die because it decided to go with a lesser priced S-Class as its base? "respect" wasn't my point although I see what you're saying. And you're absolutely right about dad parking a Vette SUV right next to his mid-engine monster.
  3. Exactly. Meanwhile, range fluctuations are not unique to EVs. Per Fueleconomy.gov: "Cold weather and winter driving conditions can reduce your fuel economysignificantly. Fuel economy tests show that, in city driving, a conventional gasoline car's gas mileage is roughly 15% lower at 20°F than it would be at 77°F. It can drop as much as 24% for short (3- to 4-mile) trips." And I'd like to add that extreme heat (like Phoenix summers) will affect it as well but we shouldn't let the obvious facts get in the way of Blu sounding like a complete fool. Again, a troll just being what he is, a troll (and an uninformed one at that).
  4. Yes because burning your money on a different car or truck every other year (with a lot of foreign makes in that mix), like you do, makes perfect financial sense. Again, what are you doing on this thread other than trolling for the sake of trolling?
  5. Like the Mustang, it most certainly can be both because times do eventually change. There can be the 2 door Vette that everyone loves and there can be a hi-po Vette SUV/CUV that will sell like hot cakes the moment it comes out. If Mercedes can stretch an S-Class and call it a Maybach, then GM can certainly take a Vette and make it an SUV. Life is not that damn rigid.
  6. Like others have said, you are splitting hairs over the use of the word “brand”. Remember when everyone thought it was a bad idea for Porsche to make what was basically a lifted 911 and call it an SUV (or “Cayenne”, in this case)? How about when they stretched out the 911 and called it a “Panamera”? How’d that work for them? Did it dilute the Porsche branding in any way? The answer to the last one is “no” btw so save the Corvette criticism for folks who don’t see right through your obvious bias. Exactly. AMG is part of their branding and it has been diluted by slapping it on damn near everything, even it the model itself didn’t properly represent the history of the AMG brand, like slapping “AMG” label on a FWD A-Class (does not matter the particular model is AWD, it still originates from a FWD entry level appliance car).
  7. You're not buying one anyway so what the hell do you care?
  8. Thats awful big talk for someone who is a fan of a certain German company that'll slap AMG stickers on any car that'll have them.
  9. Then consider yourself lucky. Two gas stations near me (when I lived in Greensboro, NC) routinely were jacked up. Half the pumps were out and it seems like it was different set of pumps every week. It should be noted that I've seen this in Arizona too and in most cases, they were not the newest pumps. Nonetheless, they most certainly do exist. Again, ask those drivers before assuming intent and reason. It's that simple.
  10. You know I respect your opinion but you are seriously reaching here. Just because someone has a Tesla or EV doesn't mean they have home charger. You are also using a very small sample here ("there were seven Teslas...") to make your case but unless you actually ask those very owners A.) "Do you have a home charger for your EV" followed by B.) "Why are you charging here if you have a home charger", then you don't have a clue what or why. You're just grasping at straws for whatever reason. Sorry, but it just doesn't hold water IMO. Good thing gas stations always have perfectly functioning pumps that are never "out of order". Oh wait. Point being, sometimes $h! happens.
  11. And still more reliable than any electronics in a German car.
  12. The GM Authority source is almost two years old. That is the only correct statement you have made on this entire thread. Bravo! @David—He is right but really doesn’t change anything with him so its not worth arguing over when his only mission here is to troll and whine when things don’t go his way.
  13. Maybe he should just skip the part where people who live with their “auntie” probably cant afford an EV in the first place. It should be noted that public chargers are popping up at various apartment complexes around the country but shhhh, trolls don’t need to know that. It won’t do them any good anyway lol. Trolls being trolls.
  14. Again let me know when I can fill my entire gas tank from home on a weekly basis without setting up my own fueling station in my backyard (surely no issues there lol). It absolutely amazes me how that one HUGE convenience is missed or basically ignored but yet hey, I can carry a Jerry can full of flammable liquids in my car. Great!
  15. Edit above: Corrected for autocorrect "correction" lol.
  16. Not worth it Olds. He is throwing bait out and you're taking the bait. Trolls being trolls and Blu being Blu, which are one and the same in this case. His jealousy on this site is as plain as day but I'm sure he will never admit to such things. He will just cherry pick one seance from an entire post and make yet another trolling remark. He makes this site not worth visiting much anymore because its just the "same old, same old" with him. Old conservative dogs do not change . The sheer irony of him hating EVs yet liking anything with a CVT is beyond laughable. Remember, this a person who totes "America first" yet has propped the economies of other countries for years now, from VW to a Mexican made CUV sold under Italian ownership, the hypocrisy is just well...obvious (to say the least). So cerebral lol. The problem with some used parts though, is that become unusable (i.e. unsalable) over time. Oxidation alone is a "B". You are right about the eternal nature of parts recycling but there are some obvious limitations to that approach.
  17. Or it could be because there is no business case for Toyota to go all in on a niche car (Supra) and it makes it more cost effect to partner up with another company for it. Again, that Benz bias coming through that keeps you from seeing the obvious reasons why Toyota went that route. They won't because the price of those two is FAR lower than the Lexus which doesn't even compete well with its actual competition at that price point. The Lexus is also three inches shorter than the average Stang, adding slightly to the heft factor when you are down on torque.
  18. Very sharp ride @ykX! Bonus points for the color choice and major bonus points for the six speed manual! The current 'Stang has been growing on me and my neighbor has a sharp looking black GT (albeit a tad loud at 1 AM) that's a stick as well.
  19. Seems to me that he made it pretty clear. Those are all things that have to be addressed at some point with an ICE auto. Not sur ehow one can be confused about that.
  20. Any fuel "savings" is mostly due to US (cough*socialism 101*cough) subsidies of the oil industry over the last hundred years. I get what you were saying but that was not the core part of the back and forth between Balth and myself. If we are going to bring up fueling fine, let's try this. The average EV with minimum 200 miles of range, cost roughly around $9 to full charge (some places are cheaper than and some are more). That is FAR cheaper than a gas fill up on any ICE outside of a hybrid that gets 50MPG. (based on the same 200 mile range) and all of that can be done from your home while you sleep. Even if you account for a 220V home charger installation (for quick charging), it would cost "slightly" more to hardline a gas pump to your home and do the same thing with that. Just offering a little "outside the box" thinking here.
  21. Curious statement for someone who never answers ANY questions. Mr. Cerebral lol.
  22. Car prices have outpaced wages during that time. Again, no savings. And electricity for EVs is cheaper than gas for ICE. And the core point was auto companies passing on savings to consumers, which has not happened. Go back to the first part of the conversation between Balth and myself.
  23. Not when the total price of the car has gone up during that same time.
  24. It's all good my Canadian friend.
  25. I am just going to say this. Toyota’s ownership of Subaru wasn’t made official until ten months ago so trying to connect one to the other, in terms of reliability, would be an incorrect assessment. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.torquenews.com/1084/subaru-officially-joins-toyota-group-what-it-means-new-outback-and-forester-models/amp
