  1. I looks kinda wierd, like the Maserati Levante. Oh my...
  2. I think the car will do well. It might not set sales records here or anywhere. But it'll do just fine. And it does have merits. It's not a barn stormer, nor does it really need to be. And most likely it will drive like a sedan version of the MKX, like the S90 drives like a sedan version of the XC90. I don't understand why that is so hard to stomach. I mean the alternative is that it probably ends up driving like a much more taut and nimble sedan than we think. But that really is irrelevant to the mission of the car. And that is a realization that most automakers will realize sooner than later, when autonomous cars become the mainstream. And if it's priced and equipped comparably to the S90, then it's got a fair shot. For one - Lincoln can leverage the large sales of the D4 platform to allocate less fixed overhead to this car. It might have lower sales volume, but have better automotive margins. Of course it's no CT6. But I imagine if it follows the pricing scheme of the XTS, fully loaded it'll be just shy of $20,000 less than the CT6 fully loaded. But again, I don't think the two cars compete tow-to-toe, but they do occupy the same price and size class.
  3. It was more of a warning to others that a post just above the warning...viewer discretion is advised. As it pertains to the high quality not-safe for work content: The heat of the meat, the mass effect of the a$$ effect equals the angle of the dangle.
  4. 2 Votes so far. 100% for paddles. Look, I think we're all just getting really lazy.
  5. Saw my first new Malibu on the road and there was a Fusion Titanium parked in a lot. American cars man - they're just too damn good.
  6. Ah. Beautiful. Glorious Victory.
  7. Well a 3 sedan lineup can serve Cadillac just fine. Chevy is going well for sedans - but it's more like the overall pie is shrinking, but GM is getting more of it. Finally though. I'd much rather see Camcord sales flat line and see cars like the Fusion, Malibu and Impala rock'em sock'em.
  8. But he can no longer say that Cadillac won't follow. I mean I love me some CT6. Like a for 73k you can get a nicely optioned CT6 that spanks a comparable Lexus LS or Audi or base 7 Series. But that's not the point. Cadillac should not be value for money. Okay, it should be. But that kind of value should be one where the company also has customers paying more for it than the competition. The problem is that he talks about quality of revenue, and then I just sign off and think, why aren't they charging more for their best products?! The Cadillacs should be premium priced. But then the legacy issues crop up. I think he was more honest about Cadillac than ever before.
  9. I watched the autoline interview. Some words that stood out to me. "we will go toe-to-toe" "Our coverage of segments will go from 50% of 90%" And the CT8 question was not asked. I think this means we will see more of the higher volume, conventional segments that get the most coverage. So XT3, and CT3 for sure. Maybe some kind of CT4 Coupe. Maybe.
  10. Yeah, Brampton is more like the state of Punjab...
  11. The Toyota C-HR looks almost exactly like a jacked up crossover version of the Nissan Concept Leaf.
  12. Brampton is Canada. We Canucks get snowy. Das forget....?!!
  13. I just don't think that fair on Mercedes. Call the Mercedes Pretednz as BS, but this going to be nothing the same. And yes they can pursue these lucrative oppurunities because they feel they can corner this segment. Why American brands are so inept to not even try convince even the home market buyers that their potential ultra luxury ventures are on par with the leaders is all on Cadillac and Lincoln. I think Mercedes will sell few units of these, but if they'll be building of the W222, the they'll have scale benefits. I don't know.... but I do know that Cadillac has a superior chassis missing some eye-popping extravagance and first-rate interior from being the true Standard of the World. And then there's a rumour floating around that kind of car might be dead. I don't know about you, but I want Cadillac to at least build a car that should be recognized as at least the ultimate competitor to the pinnacle of the world. They don't have to chase every niche. But top sedan or SUV, preferably both. This is a $300,000+ Mercedes for sure. And compared to the initial Maybach's it's downright downmarket!!!
  14. But look at how this thing is priced too. at $60k, it's a tough pill for someone like me - who wants the top displacement, who wants all the boost, none of the ECO...and yeah. Like this is one of those cars...I see why its exists, as Volvo needs a performance arm, but just the way they've gone it's like Lexus F in terms of results, or like AMG-lite or like V/M/Sport. And even then! 2.0 litres of Scandinavia's finest. That is just flat out crazy.
  15. It's a temporary condition caused by the lack of ramped up production, and needed to fulfill customer backlog. And Lincoln more than made up the loss in MKC. They're up 11% because of MKX and Navigator. Cadillac was down this month - because of SRX winding down. But the MKX carries a higher transaction prices than the other Lincolns other than Navigator. Once production normalizes the fleet sales will be used as mechanism to smooth sales year-over year. Like how it's always been done. However, breaks from the norm do happen. This year, Ford's fleet sales were front loaded, their fleet customers wanted their vehicles earlier, so production was timed to deliver vehicles in March. It's got everything to do with their vans. Remember. GM does not have really anything AT ALL that is competitive in the commercial van segment anymore. I do agree - GM is making the some of the best products out there right now. But the reasons why fleet sales are down are pretty clear. The fleet queen Cruze is gone, being replaced with the new Cruze which is barely out yet. No more bread vans of any kind other than the rebadged Nissan NV. Chevy Captiva is gone. Other thing such as production either winding down for some outgoing cars or production now even up fully for others yet. You look at it another way, Ford had 160,467 retail sales, and GM had 30,000 more. I do believe that GM just has more models and more segments covered with its 4 family of brands. They're supposed to outsell Ford in retail. I mean it's not a shocker. It's what I expect, at the very least. And those retail numbers should do even better with the new products at the full speed. But again, It's no shocker to expect GM to outsell Ford in both fleet and retail.
  16. Will never happen because nothing at GM can be faster than a Corvette. I have long thought that Cadillac should have a sports car superior to the Corvette, but that isn't in GM's thinking. I'd love to see a V12 Cadillac super car with 200+ mph top speed and sub 3 second 0-60 time but they'll never green light due to cost. The head of AMG was asked if Mercedes would make a LaFerrari/McLaren P1 competitor last year. He said they could build a car like that, but it would be such a money loser and divert resources from the E63 and other projects, which we now see are the C43, E43 and GLC63, and AMG GT R. So if Mercedes who has a V12 and a Formula 1 race team, that has the technology on the shelf to build a hyper car deemed it a money loser, then Cadillac would lose even more money on such a project and GM would never green light that. Dude what are you saying?!! That same Corvette almost embarasses cars that cost 10 times as much on the world's most renowned tracks. You cannot replicate that kind of performance potential anywhere in the industry like that. Potential because...I'll stick with potential because of some mitigating factors....but nonetheless. And while I said before - in terms of a business decision the new AMG-lite stuff may make a lot of sense. These AMGs are not the top dogs. They are while indeed going to be on par with AMG cars of a few generations ago, they are largely a badge/trim job disguised as new models on their own outright. It's a whoring out strategy that doesn't make the top-end AMG cars any better than before, because they're not the pinnacle of their cars. But GM knows how to deliver very high performance to price ratios.
  17. I bet the take rate on the V12 in the Mercedes cars are also abysmal. Look, the V8 isn't going anywhere. And that V8 will be Cadillac exclusive, and future product will use it. That's a done deal. They also have diesels for select markets, but that might change in terms of implementation. The CT6 is a pampering interior away from being the best core product - by that I mean the all the sheetmetal, technology, leather and stuff that makes the car, not considering benefits of ownership, prestige or perceptions. The Navigator uses a boosted six. Cadillac doesn't have to make any compromises. They can sell the 'Slade here in N/A with a V8 as long as it is feasible to do so. Everywhere else they can sell a compliance engine where needed, and still have the V8 optional. 'Slade is still exported to the rest of the world.
  18. Yup and that's huge. Because those top cars represent brand image. They represent the secret cause of those automakers. No one bought the Tata Nano because it had the image of a poor person's car. Or rather India's car for the masses. "Car for the masses" branding ends up failing because being everything to everyone means being nothing to no one. Like I said before. Tesla is not too big to fail yet. But they're just too valuable to lose. They're going to do most likely another equity offering, but their shareholders on the secondary markets quite frankly are easily pleased. Show a vehicle concept and boom! Total rally on the exchanges. They might do this. 1. Equity offering soon. 2. Before phase 2, do a stock split. 3. Report 2016 FY earnings. Highlight cost recovery in Q4. 4. Phase 2 reveal, watch the stock rally once more. 5. Yet another equity offering. 6. Launch car, and so begins the ascension.
  19. Well, Omega opens up a hole lot of possibilities. But I really don't see that happening... Cadillac deserves on its name alone to have Omega or the best version of it reserved for itself. If Omega is used to make another SS....No. The CT6 is barely established yet, and I can't quite imagine the General eroding the price point of what is a platform that has the most advanced body structure of any passenger car. I think cheap RWD performance is going to be relegated to cars that are ultimately profitable and aligned with the needs of the brand. And Chevy doesn't need an M5 rival anymore. They need crossovers. They need the meat. And the potatoes.
  20. The 300 being made in Brampton, I'm pretty sure they have it sorted for Winter driving.
  21. For its third year, the roadgoing S60 Polestar gets a heart transplant. It’s now powered by an uprated version of Volvo’s DriveE fourcylinder engine instead of the 3.0liter inline sixcylinder, while an Aisin eightspeed replaces the former sixspeed automatic transmission. Whereas the turbocharged sixcylinder was rated at 345 horsepower at 5250 rpm, the four is both supercharged and turbocharged and extracts 362 horsepower from a mere 2.0 liters of displacement. This engine is rated at 302 horsepower in the S60 and 316 horsepower in the XC90. Read more at: http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2017-volvo-s60-polestar-first-drive-review The GIST: Well they now have a twin-charged four-cylinder delivering more powa, and torque. It's faster. Is it a sign of the times - where the full force of displacement taxes in worldwide markets force automakers to downsize in order to market performance vehicles that are largely the same across the world? It seems like it's an absolute certainty that is is the way things are going to go moving forward. China is starting to show it's effects on world-wide cars. Even Bentley probably only made the V8 model just to reduce the taxes that much more on their cars.... I'm reminded/haunted by how BMW said we'll only go away from the inline six until it is no longer feasible....
  22. The Acadia and Explorer are not that well-equipped optioned at that price tho. And Frisky... The Dodge Journey... this is one of those vehicles that has perpetual incentives from the manufacturer. And lots of off-lease rentals depressing used values, which means I think this "would you rather" has distorted results... Trying to account for the relevant range here...managerial accounting....fair market value...derp derp derp.
  23. I think it all has to do with perceptions and nothing to do with merit. V8s can be made to be thrifty. RWD cars, due to tires and just ESC and other aids are arguably better in inclement weather than ever before. But perceptions do drive the habits of the consumer. It's too early to say the CT8 is dead. If it is it's a bummer.
  24. Yeah, but we don't know if that is the average charge rate. Because chargers start to reduce current and ultimately the closer to 100% you get, the more the charge is a trickle. And the Tesla is more desirable. It just is. I don't actually consider the car to myself to be desirable to me. Remember, the pennies in the piggy are waiting for either a Camaro or CT6 or if I'm deluded, Continental. But I wholly enjoy how every automaker has been so complacent which has caused this defection to Tesla.
