  1. i think chevy will be all in with some incentives to move these things and i am guessing a lot of them will be LS and LT1's. That leaves room at the top for the much more expensive Impala in the future. An LS manual 2.5 with some bigger wheels and Mylink would be about all I need. The automatic would work fine also. Moonroof would be a nice option. I'd like to see cloth heated seats on the Malibu. Seen a few 2013 Altimas, already tired of them. Not a fan of the grille and overall they look too similar to the 12's. Have to admit, a 2.0 manual turbo Malibu in basic trim I would like and I'd even prefer it over a Verano now.
  2. i like your ideas to create a cost effective sport package. i actually stopped at the chevy place today and it was worth my while because they had a new 2.5 LS. MSRP was 23k or a little more. Looked really good for the price. Alloys and everything. The only real option you'd need that it was missing was mylink. Really liked the non-faux wood trim. My only real knock on the BU is rear leg room.
  3. the midsizers really crossover into the large cars now also, and the lux / near lux. you can option a new fusion to 38+ grand..... Impalas, MKZ's Regals, TSX or TL, they all seem to crossover.
  4. this is probably how i would slot them to my own preference today. very well could change. The Camry and Chrysler twins are prob the only ones you could not give me for free. 1. Fusion 2. Mazda6 3. Accord 4. Altima 5. Malibu 6. Passat 7. Sonata 8. Optima 9. Legacy 10. Camry 11. Avenger 12. 200 pretty amazing when you consider how many models got weeded out. Aura, Grand Prix, Galant, Milan malibu as high for me is a homer pick. it would probably make sense to have it a little lower but at the same time i think its refinement and quietness have to account for something.
  5. BUMP is it time to revisit this thread for 2013/2014?
  6. hybrid cimarron
  7. Just thinking. GM got in bed with PSA.... GM used to be with some other mfr's. Is there anyone on the world stage that maybe WOULD make sense for GM to be with? For example, Mazda needs help, and GM could possibly benefit. Thoughts?
  8. weird interior, good mpg. i guess honda will still be blowing them out.... edit.....spent a lot of time looking at photos today. i have to admit, despite the dull exterior and seemingly weird interior at first, i think there is lots improved here and i think i might have to go drive one. overall way nicer than the camry. really diggin the new fusion and mazda6 also. the new altima is not bad either. the midsize segment is so competitive i think that what this does is knock even more niche models out of the market.
  9. Wait til the Impaler hits. Chevy's car lineup will be pretty solid, top to bottom. You could argue that Chevy could have a few more car models to fill some tiny niches. But overally they will be in a great place. Cadillac is getting there also. By the time the new CTS hits, Cadillac will have a pretty good lineup too. Buick IMO needs to evolve into some unique spots. The Encore is not bad...however much GM didn't want to do it, I think an Equinox/Terrain companion is just as justifiable as Enclave is to it's mates (likewise why no Chevy Trax?). If Buick had the Adam or Corsa here and simply just imported the other Astra versions of the Verano, I think they would rock out Buick. No reason why we can't have the 3 door, 5 door, and even the wagon Astra. I used to think the Regal should get the wagon but I don't feel that anymore. I think GM is done with wagons mostly. Regal hatch may be unique and to be honest i would enjoy that but the sedan is fine to me. I think the Regal should think about adding one AWD version. It may not be worth doing a lot with Regal until the next gen where hopefully they can shed the weight. GM maybe should still consider a cruze coupe. I wish the Cruze hatch was less lumpy but I am overall 50/50 on a cruze hatch here if we got the Astra buick hatch instead. Cruze wagon is useful but with it's nerdy look I don't see it surviving in a sea of Equinoxes and regular Cruze's. I like the new Malibu but it seems like GM should plan for an all new one in 4 years, with a new lighter platform. Make that the start of the next global platform.
  10. i posted a link to some pics of the dash in one of the VW threads. Looks basically like the old one, a little snappier and shaped a little bit swoopy like the Focus. Overall, I am not big on VW......not that they don't drive well, more like they (or their stigma / aura) don't really correspond to me.
  11. Likely the Omega will have some interchangeable cheaper bits, that is likely the future of the commodore, IF there is one. I doubt it's necessary, really. GM needs to invest in the next gen of platforms to replace the bulk of their vehicle lineup so they can keep up with the crazy stupid cafe, which is seemingly the big driver. AU will get assimilated, Epsilon3 or whatever it will be will be the large car future.
  12. http://indianautosblog.com/2012/09/all-new-volkswagen-golf-interiors images of the new Golf interiors......... I see some new Focus dash in them
  13. saw one today, didn't sit in it, but stuck my head in it and touched some plastic. rear seat leg room looked a little tight. door panels looked sorta spartan, dash had an interesting motif to a point but incohesive. Neon 2.0 is not my cup of tea, but for Chrysler it's a big improvement on the Caliber.
  14. eAssist should be defeatable. And should have selectable levels of 'engine off'. I really do think stop start may become lots more typical.... thus why GM is rolling it out. Get it in production for the consumers to beta test, and bring the cost down for the future Daewoos, er...... Chevies......
  15. Nissan is going for a slightly better verson of Toyota milk/toast these days.......
  16. same greenhouse almost, at least the glass
  17. it's not easy to sell a 31 mpg car, a 36 mpg car is easier to at least get the typical average AMURCHAN IDIOT in to try it. (i.e. CR bangers and other usual uninformed Joe Blows). 2014 will likely see the 2.5 or 2.5+eassist. The next e Assist had better have a better battery packaging solution.
  18. Maybe we'll see a 2.5 Regal at some point. I'd really like a basic Regal manual, turbo or no.
  19. I hope the Dart does well. I will for sure check one out. But the exterior styling doesn't connect fully with me, and it's too much a reminder of the Neon. The interior has high points and stuff but then has the mismatched steering wheel. The Dart connects in a lot of ways, lots of options, lower trims well priced, interesting powertrains, space, etc. The Dart may end up having a slow launch and may end up being a word of mouth type of car. I hope the alfa bits hold up and don't end up falling apart. It's a better effort than expected for Chrysler I think, but they need to have good press and a strong launch.
  20. Swift not here due to yen rate. Pretty much all the other 2.5 million plus vehicles are Swift size or much smaller.
  21. fusion hybrid does not have leather standard
  22. 2014 is more accurate. 2, likely 3 new models. yup an eternity, just like GM used to take with their products. Remember the global market, the US is not a primary country for everyone.
  23. why would suzuki need to merge when they sell over 2.5 million vehicles a year. Footnote, Suzuki USA made money and was in the black in the US last year. The low volume production is likely the mode until the next wave of new products comes out in a year or two, the number of dealerships has stabilized and while obviously the advertising and such is not to the level of the big boys, the business plan for the next year or two is just to run lean, be in the black and once the new products come out the and VW situation is resolved, grow volume again.
  24. olds achieva SCX....... fastback cutlass salons and buick centurys X11 and celebrity Euro (the lumina Z34 I am sure was nice but not as nice as a taurus sho yamaha with stick) cutlass supreme international series reatta XLR Cadillac BLS
  25. the Encore is sweet, but it is REALLY small..........
