  1. While that '72 is a great looking car, think of what it will be worth finished. Then take a look for one already done...you will save a ton of money and time by buying the finished one. Hemmings turned up cars from $4000 to 15,900 finished. If you think the $3200 price of admission is worth it, figure on triple that amount unless you can do every bit of the work yourself, then you can double your costs on the car... I do love that body style though.
  2. I am willing to bet that a lot of these rare cars were turned in at a Dodge dealer for the Double Money...Chrysler was offering DOUBLE the CARS money on it's cars. Still, the list is disgusting to say the least. I am going to be sick to say the least. 45 Less 6-series, the M cars and 132 Corvettes also astounds. So many of my dream cars are gone and I PAID FOR IT!
  3. I would not doubt that, but I would excuse it at the price point the Astra is set at. The X3 is supposed to be a premium small utility vehicle at a higher price point. And not that any one cares...but my ass and hips STILL hurt this morning. Office work has been EXCRUCIATING to say the least.
  4. Today my M5 went in for service (to say that the dealer will be ripped a new one is an understatement but that is for later) as the 'Certified' process was never actually completed, they just threw on a set of tires and called it good. For a loaner they sent over a Titanium Silver 2009 X3 xdrive 3.0i. Nice little suv I thought - loaded with full leather interior, ultra-view sunroof, cold weather package and a few other ammenities I am not used to seeing on a service loaner. We put her through her paces today, and here are some observances: Good: The 3 liter in-line 6 is a marvel. Smooth, turbine like power and smooth shifts from the 6-speed transmission make the little suv a blast to drive around in. I could see me owning one of these as they are decently laid out, have decent storage space, and have a great upright seating position with a good vision all around. The steering is precise and the brakes, while touchy, do a great job of bringing this thing to a stop. Managed to earn 23 mpg durring its time with us in mixed driving. Not bad for an SUV. Ergonomics are typical BMW with everything within easy reach and where you would expect it to be. Bad: The seats have to be the most uncomfortable things I have ever sat in. Period. Seriously it was torture for me, and my ass still hurts an hour + later. I feel like they bruised my hips! Think donkey ride down a rock path through the Grand Canyon on a steel saddle and you would get close to the pain inflicted upon my person by these seats. Further, while sitting on the seats, you feel off centered, like the steering wheel is towards the middle of the car. I could just not get comfortable in the car, and I am not just talking about my ass. The ride is very firm, and this model did not have the sport package that I could tell. It was rough to jarring at times - completely NOT what I was expecting. For the money, the SRX is a better buy by far. Hell, I am willing to put money on the new Equinox as a better driving car than this X3 was. Bold statement? I don't think so. So overall, I am really disappointed in the X3 and found it to be nothing like I expected from BMW, a company known for wonderfully balanced driver's cars. This experience actually made me wonder how they even sell these things!
  5. Exactly...but the Boy will be charged and the girl will be able to tell everyone she was raped because she sobered up. BOTH should be held accountable equally - he should charge her with raping him and see if she does not change her story. Let her carry the equal weight of the badge sex offender if she is so charged. Face it folks - neither of them should have had access to the booze and the place to party for this to have happened. He did not force her to drink - she did not force him to drink either - both acted on their own - so both are equally to blame in my eyes. If there were indications of Forced sex, or a rufie slipped in a drink, then I would change my tune - but if the boy acted only as a drunken fool - and the girl was equally stupid, then there should be no charge here.
  6. I was thinking the same damned thing!!!! But then again: http://aveoclub.proboards.com/index.cgi this exists!
  7. A picture is usually worth a thousand words...this one only brings two to mind: Insurance Cancelled!
  8. 1953-54 Buick Skylark...any color Would also take a '53 Olds Fiesta Convertible
  9. Here in Iowa my experiences seem to differ from those around the country...I see a lot more FWD cars lining the ditches of the highways - I guess that was what brought out my thought process. I guess for all of your sakes, I am glad to see it is a geographically isolated issue.
  10. How many of you predict mass carnage on the highways this winter now that a lot of people left their SUV's and pick-ups with the crusher in exchange for lighter, front-wheel drive compacts that don't fare as well on snowy and ice covered highways? Also, how many of you predict that a lot of the buyers of the very same compacts will be buying a new truck this winter?
  11. Good luck to "Gary" - he is really going to need it! Sadly, it is always somebody elses fault these days: She is 16 and drunk - where the HELL are the parents of this girl? He is 17 and Drunk - where the hell are HIS parents? Who bought the alcohol? Where did this take place? There are so many fingers to point on this one it makes me sick. "Gary" just trying to have a good time went too far...and so did "Sally"...so now when her mom/dad find out about what happened - "Sally" cries RAPE. Was NOT her fault! She didn't mean to get drunk at a party her friends made her go to. This just goes on and on... Chris, have your son stay close to "Gary" - this is the kind of thing that can push a young man to take the "easy way out"...and that would only make this situation even more tragic.
  12. I would love to own that one...if it is as good as it should be...hope it was stored correctly.
  13. Hey! I am a half Irish half English on my dad's side...I NEED the penis extender, thank you very much! Seriously: I only buy cars that stimulate me during the drive...status be damned. I like my M5 by the way the exhaust note sounds, the way it reacts to the controls, and just how blindingly fast it is. If that means I have to live with the penis extender moniker, that is just sad. Oh, and I would also love a Hennessy LS9 powered SS Camaros to add to my list...fast and beautiful.
  14. Believe it or not...the Aldi's brand PB is REAAAAALLY Good. Great roasted taste and no additives like Corn Syrup and sugars. Has a great flavor and it is great in chunky as well...whole peanuts in the mix, not those little gum killer peanut chunks you find in other brands. And if you are a German beer lover, try the Wernesgruner at Aldi's...absolutely the best pils you can buy in the USA.
  15. My main items of lust would be an Ariel Atom and a ZR1. I would take those two for my daily drivers...and an SLS AMG Gullwing for my high dollar car. Silver over red please! Also would love a Fisker Karma...great lines along the shape of the SS Chevrolet concept of a few years ago.
  16. Nope...they were eating the dry mix out of the packet!

Sunlardo FTW! That is some funny $h! right there!
  18. Yes...it is true. You could have blown the trans cooler lines that run out of the trans to the radiator. Put a few quarts in it and look for the leak. Bring some 1/4" or 3/8" rubber hose and some clamps with you to replace the rubber lines that go into the Radiator or up to the trans. Good luck!

Somebody was dropped as a child...and now they need attention. Hmmm...how can I blow thousands of dollars on a car that will be worth nothing but scrap weight when I am done? The only way this car could be any worse is if it were powered by a Toyota motor that was transplanted in...Gawd, kill this thing before it causes an accident.
  20. Thank you Chris! I know this is a GM site, but truly, BMW makes some fantastic cars that GM does NOT compete with. IF GM made a TRUE 750 competitor, or a GT car like the 650 coupe - they would attract a different crowd. They moved in the correct direction with the CTS and CTS-V and I had hoped they would build on that. Still waiting.
  21. :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:
  22. I saw this in Cedar Rapids this morning at a Perkins...the owner of this Smart has to have BALLS the size of Watermellons...the plates on the Smart are California. The car on the trailer is a 2009 Wildfire three wheeler...72 MPG!! My LORD this person has a death wish!
  23. I just re-looked at the picture of the goodbye clunker Camaro... no rear spoiler that I can see...that could have been a Berlinetta. Digital dash car?
  24. Mustang84 - go further behind Jim Miller and see the BMW 735i, the Aurora and the third gen (the third gen is an 88 and is really really beat!) and there are enough Jeeps back behind both Jim Miller and McGraths (where the b-body Cappy is) to have a Jeep Jamboree. The Third gen with "goodbye clunker" written on the window looks like it has shiny paint, t-tops, and it has the striped interior, so it has a higher level trim on it. Could be an Iroc. Sad. I would love to have a third gen again. Wonderful cars. Youtube finds this morning turned up a Dodge Stealth, Subaru SRX, Z28 Convertible 6 speed car, and a few really sadly nice cars...oh and a Late Model Eldorado that they ran against a pull to run a burn-out contest - with a 150 shot of NOS and no oil. Sad. Looked like a clean car. The Corvette in the original post had 18,000 original miles on it with two burned plug wires in it. Owner thought the motor was toast. It is now. CRY. Don't forget: Dodge was matching the clunker money for a while, so it MAY have brought the owner $9000. I think the Dodge dealers matching the clunker money really is the reason we are seeing such NICE cars going to the crushers. A majority of what I am seeing behind the dealers really do not bother me to see destroyed (a caravan is a caravan) But seeing the Corvette and a Camaro knowingly destroyed kills me.
