the wierdest homosexual innuendo on the neton C&G oh ya, and i think charger is like the new zoomtm, not in the gay sense, in the sense that he just posts a bunch of crazy $h! that people just don't comment on [no offense charger, we're all reading and just laughing, with ya ;-)]

You will get no sympathy from me.... just kidding. This site is the best it's ever been in terms of news content and freshness. The ease of use has always been a great feature, and of course the content from the members has always been the heart of it all. Your effort to keep things smooth and interesting is duly applauded; I have seen the content and character of it all improve greatly. It was good before, it's at a peak now. If only we could get journalist priveleges and press kits for the cars to go and review them with the real magazines. Now that would be big time.

This is very good of you to say, and I agree with it. I've always respected Josh as a person....and I've voiced my opinion on him several times already so no need to do it again.

GM Powertrain Unveils 3.6-Liter VVT Engine With DI
turbo200 replied to Derek77's topic in General Motors
great. thanks for releasing it in about two years. pooped on the party just kidding. this truly is good news. DI will be a major improvement. Though I wish it was already coming for Caddy today, or for '07 model year....it is good to know this may finally spell the end of the HV engines. HV engines are only used in great numbers in America anyways....and most Americans don't care for them. To the chopping block. -
I don't know if I'll have time to read through this entire topic tonight, but all I can say now is compared to where Infiniti, Acura, Audi, MB, BMW, and now Lexus have gone to in the short time since Cadillac's rebound....well it doesn't compare. Those marques are ever-improving. The NG CTS, as has been mentioned here I'm sure, will be a success, though its interior again just looks to build on the competition's lead and not really revolutionize anything in styling, but the STS and SRX are unmitigated disasters. They were not fine three years ago, and it's not fine that the CLS, 5, A6, M45 all look so fresh and modern, and the STS and SRX will remain largely looking the same for some time as has been confirmed by evok in this thread. Style, class, presence, design......are so important, well they are tri-fold important in this class of cars. GM is missing an important opportunity to make Cadillac relevant with coastal [young, affluent] import shoppers....yet again. There time is running out, on all fronts. The luxury sector is being innundated with incredible cars.......CLS is the most beautiful sedan on the road....and MB's rep keeps going up up up to the stratosphere; the same is true with other brands. Meanwhile, Caddy is stuck with an outdated STS that looks more stale than a Cobalt SS SC. What a shame. Come on Cadillac. the money has to be there to design some incredible, breathtaking cars never before seen, inside and out. NG CTS is a good try for the exterior from what we've seen, but the interior isn't really breathtaking, just a significant improvement from what was there before. That'll be enough to win some conquests. But STS and SRX are a wholly different story, inside and out. And lest we forget the rest of the world class lineup that has never really fleshed out [aside from a class-leading Escalade trio].

I won't guess which one it will be, since I'm so used to wanting one thing from GM and getting something else. I voted for the G6 vert since that's the one they should use. Wish it had an interior that was comparable to an Accord's though.

sounds beautiful. we need pictures, and a big congrats to you on your new vehicle. mileage and power should increase still after break in

They needed this yesterday. But if t comes right around when the next CTS debuts, or maybe a year after it, ooh boy will that do something for sales.

C&G Discussion: Is the Solstice Pontiac's Ticket?
turbo200 replied to Bimmer325's topic in Heritage Marques
Pontiac has always tried to be the performance division with a distinct flair. This is clear and simple, something that is not conservative, takes no prisoners, and is not for the average person looking for something safe. Both points you listed, Bimmer, qualify at those marketing perspectives. But the Pontiac of today is so dulled and indistinct, many think it is dead, and it was only 8 years ago that it was selling nearly a million units per year. What has happened that people have been convinced to stop giving brands chances? Well, within the company, it's simple. Lack of product focus and understanding where the market was going have led to sales duds. Plain and simple. Marketing cannot do anything for a G6 with a pushrod motor pushing out 200 hp for the supposed performance division and a face that harks back to the last generation Accord. The rear is another indistinct trait altogether. What the hell happened to GM that convinced them they should try and make their cars as innoucous and Japanese-inspired as possible....[best slack-jawed yokel impersonation] "because that must be why America buys the Japanese cars so much". Why haven't they figured it out? Haven't they gotten spanked by the Accord and Camry enough to just take it apart and drive the sucker!? Ooooookay. End that. Back to Pontiac. MArketing for the G6 could do nothing for this brand that used to produce attractive sedans that had sporting intentions every once in a while [last gneration Grand Prix].........but never really produced sedans that completely measured up in the quality and sophistication respect. Marketing could do nothing for it. The only thing left is to completely reinvent this brand. Back to why people are convinced to stop giving chances to brands. Lack of resources within the company. It's your own damn fault, GM, for starving Pontiac of the right kind of product. So when you're out of business, and you have all these Pontiac people shedding tears or whatever and asking what went wrong, don't point the finger at anyone but yourself. Go drive a Mazda 3 for some excitement, inside, outside, and through and through. Then drive a G6 and tell me what's wrong. As for the public, they'll start giving chances to brands again as soon as you give them a valid reason. There are a lot of brick walls out there, but not everyone is, and their are a lot of soft spots for GM, and Pontiac. And killer DESIGN is the ticket to stardom. So, to answer your question, yes and yes, Pontiac needs RWD, or a lot more RWD, and a lot more performance, as well as more daring plebian models for the more mainstream, and more curves like the Solstice would help things out A LOT. DAMN GOOD LOOKING CARS is the key. -
Again, beautiful post

beautiful beautiful post. i am very apathetic towards the company's management right now

Carbiz, upon introduction, most Toyota products are considered class-leading or very near the forefront of the class. Even the last generation that saw Corolla and Camry be relative "duds" in the critical sense but not the sales sense, they were not tops of the class but very near it. Your opinion of the "other companies" is flawed and based in GM fan perception. Everytime a new product gets released its usually better in many ways, and sometimes all ways, than what was there before, except if you are a GM car. or Ford car, or DCX car, this isn't always the case. Honda Civic: drive the new one, put aside your indifference to its styling, its the most alluring compact car I've ever driven. A complete luxurious ride. The Hybrid version has a more luxurious presence than the CTS on the inside! When the bar is set that high, it is very hard to reach it, but that doesn't mean you give up and release rental specials that compete with no one, much less the newest and best from Honda or Toyota.

GM plans to replace Saturn Ion with Opel car
turbo200 replied to Northstar's topic in Heritage Marques
terrific news no matter what the volume constraints are. The constraints are there for a number of reasons, not the least of which is the UAW, probably. No matter what, GM needs to work on getting full volume of around 100k-200k units for the year after. This car will move serious volume for GM. -
put me in the category of wanting the Astra here even if its limited. the more you can get here the better, astra will be necessary for saturn's revitalization.

First Zeta hits the road in down under testing
turbo200 replied to hyperv6's topic in General Motors
No insider has corrected you yet on the G6 info. Last ah-ha said before the site went down, G6 was the ONLY Pontiac approved and funded for the next generation. Are you sure your info is correct? -
so with all this news of Buick and Chevy Zeta and Eps product.....Pontiac is being completely pushed out of the picture? It doesn't make sense that they would stop funding for NG G6 on EP II, but that's what some here are claiming. Evok or any insider, can you clear this up? Also, since CTS is being widened and nicened, is it moving upscale to make room for a smaller, hopefully RWD BLS to make it our way? Josh, what's your opinion on Kappa II forming the base of BLS, since you seem to talk about it a lot like it is in planning....

Caddy isn't doing well. DTS is below old Deville sales, and STS is off, the new S-Class is getting more sales than it....at higher prices. Something must be done fast to fix both these issues. I wish for once, GM could renew all thier lineups in good time, and together to get good attention, like Saturn is doing. Cadillac needs a new STS, or a dramatically better one, yesterday. DTS needs to be dropped in favor of larger STS with better acoutrements and better pricing for the V8 model. ULS needs to be brought in above STS, though I hate the name ULS.

holy s-class sales! 3,000 ~$90k sedans equals huge success for MB. It's not a wonder, that car is hot. The bomb. It is beautiful in and most importantly out.

aspirational value is not a factor with an everday pony car like the camaro. there will be 22k models and 40k models. the 40k models will have aspiration built into them, they will have in excess of 400 hp and be capable of awesome things. the base models will be base like the Mustang, around everywhere. 160k will probably not be sustainable for years, but demand should be there for the first year. Especially if it comes out like the concept. A 100k vehicle is not technically niche.

1. Still a rumor and no confirmation. All signs pointing to a decision soon, and either wilmington or oshawa, both seem to be in running.2. this is no longer the case. exculsivity contract existed with St. Therese, Quebec plant, but this plant was demolished, and contract went with it.

a good four cylinder/stick combo makes a lot of sense to people looking for an upscale, larger than compact, sedan with space style and a fun drive. there are a lot more people like that than Saturn is giving credit for.

First Zeta hits the road in down under testing
turbo200 replied to hyperv6's topic in General Motors
you're right on both accounts. most of the rear suspension, i believe, has been taken from the current VZ platform. -
I'll try to give you more feedback later, but so far it's most excellent

OC, I have to agree with every one of your criticisms of the current Malibu and the GM interior design failures. My biggest complaints in so many of their vehicles is the lack of innovation in the center stacks and how they just seem to cheapen out the console as much as they possibly can. It's lame as hell, these are crucial parts people come into contact with on a daily basis, there is no damn reason for the console of the G6 to be as cheap as it is. The MAlibu is the biggest ugly duckling out there right now. Well, one of the biggest. You are right sir, the exterior needs a complete renovation. Thankfully, that probably will happen, and it won't be a mild refresh like some are indicating. The exterior does not belong in the same class as the new Camry, Altima, Sonata, or even current Accord. It looks like the rental car it is. The car will need more passion and excitement to get attention.
