  1. I can't see what's exactly underwhelming about this truck---as Petra put it, it's a thoroughly competitive truck, and Ford did it really well last time, so it was going to be impossible to blow anyone away. The exterior is my new favorite for trucks, F-150 and Silverado right behind it. Interior-wise, yeah I think they goofed that part, but I'll reserve a full opinion until i get more pics. As is, the F-150 is much cleaner and nicer aesthetically, imo. There's more to come as evok puts it.
  2. GTO and XLR seem to be building positive image. GTO is the only car worth considering to many over at Pontiac....I see one every couple of weeks here in LA, which compared to the ratio of normal Pontiacs I see is astonishing in light of its sales. XLR V will build up image as well, though XLR could use an update soon, like in two to three years.
  3. This new Chevrolet truck face is distinctive, classy, and a huge success. I've seen three Tahoes on the road, and they stand out against the backdrop. The Avalanche will be a very successful vehicle this year, as long as gas prices can sustain at or around thier current level.
  4. we knew this was coming. the lineup looked weak two years ago, and knowing that the 800s were going to have to hold up the fort for so long, along with an outdated car lineup, and the promise of even more half-baked cars, it would have been hard not to see this coming. It's been an onslaught of bad news though, you just have to try and rise above it, and understand that even in the worst times, all it takes is one product hit to start the momentum again.
  5. It is best the way GM is doing it. By concentrating on building a flexible platform that can build the exciting Camaro as well as others and even crossovers that that can help to build volume and ensure the future of certain brands. It's equally important to build world-class, stylish sedans. Look how many times that line has been fed to GM, and only now will they be releasing something akin to it [Aura].
  6. It would be a welcome surprise if production was moved up to '08. What are the hints GM has been giving out, besides this?
  7. It will only worsen as time progresses, I feel. Religion binds us all-whether we have no belief in God or we believe in Jesus as Messiah---we are all searching for our religion, our purpose, the reason behind things that happen in our lives. Those that are lost in meaninglessness and have found no purpose for thier life say life is nothing but a series of random events, there will come a time when a great love or a great loss will convince them otherwise. Many Muslims, fundamentalists, no doubt, believe thier religion entitles them to kill. They will not give up on this belief, and it'll lead us into a new era.
  8. I have seen one Tahoe and one Yukon on the road....both looked very nice. I love the look of the Tahoe, and the Yukon is growing on me, a lot, it will be a short time before they are on the roads in good numberrs.
  9. GMT 900s on the road tally: 2! Tahoe yesterday, great purpleish color and fully loaded trim Yukon today, actually looked pretty decent, and even distinctive as I drove further away as its face peered back at me. EDIT: forgot to mention....both were no where near dealers.

    BLEH!

keep us posted on how things go with the family BV....if you can.....best wishes.
  11. Pontiac just under 500k units Buick just over 200k units
  12. I think it's pretty nice too. Good prices for this car, but something just doesn't get me excited about it. Maybe it's the drivetrain layout, engine size, and overall heft.
  13. Saab is all GM product....for now and the future. Anyone that buys Saab would have to immediately look into development and design of new product, and probably be forced to pay GM to continue using transmission, engines, etc. Trollhatten is not an asset that anyone is looking to buy either. I don't think Saab would go for the sole reason of it's only a brand---nothing else would come with it. Wagoner has said the cost of losing Olds was catastrophic, or something like that. I just don't see how any one brand could be cut.
  14. I noticed that too. Hopefully the effect and look is still captured, and it doesn't leave some of us wishing they had spent the extra money for the concept hardware.
  15. I will say this about Honda and toyota: there are some ads they do wonderfully that totally capture a great reason to buy thier cars. The ad people see something barely innovative about the vehicle and take that aspect and run with it in the ads. Case in point: Element product launch. One ad has all four doors open as you overlook a beautiful lake in a wilderness setting. How many nature lovers do you think that ad sold. Hell, that ad sold me on the car. Made me want that crappy little box. The other thing I'll say is how I wish they could have cut the ad budget when there cars were still crappy, and not when they were just getting good.
  16. oh crap...

    BLEH!

I wish there was something I could think of to help you BV [and ocn too]. BV sounds like you are in a town that is [a] not accepting not enlightened [c] very tough [d] very rural, which is basically all the things you've said of it. I have something interesting to share I just thought about. As I've shared, I grew up going to two different high schools. For anyone that's ever moved, it's a difficult experience....my experience was excaberated because my parents sent me away from them, most of my family, and all the friends I ever knew.....and then they brought me back home. Don't ask, it's not that important. The first school I went to was closer to the city, and eons more enlightened. There were some gay guys there, but they were the flamboyant type who acted like "bitches", you know what I'm talking about. They would have had a hard time hiding it, and chose not to, and instead would come around me, and other guys, and say things like "cutie" and the like. anyways.....I remember hearing of some straighter acting guys coming out once they went to college.....suffice it to say, there were still some people who obviously felt they were gay, and were closeted because of the pressures. The other high school I went to was in a rural NW Indiana suburb.....much different environment, and not on a level of creative expression as the other one. There were no gay guys there that I can remember.....or maybe one. I think I got like one note from a secret admirer....but that's a different story for a different time. Here is the relatable part. I worked on the newspaper staff when a letter was sent to us from a guy who was gay and was closeted and gasp! was a jock. He remained anonymous, and wrote this basically 300 word letter about how he knew if he told his friends, they would turn thier back on him [except for the couple that might turn out to be real friends like Croc was talking about]. For a week the whole school was abuzz.....things were said like "I can't beleive there is a gay guy among us and he isn't telling us", "that's so wierd to know there are gay people hiding in our crowd"; basically a lot of BS that I would never be a part of. What I'm trying to say is.....a lot of people lack the education and understanding to accept gay people.....still. A lot of people have a stigma against them, like they are animal or unhuman.....a lot of people are ignorant jackasses. Maybe it's not the right time for you to come out to everyone just yet. When college comes around....you will be a lot better equipped to handle the situation, and others around you will be a lot better equipped to understand you. Honestly, if I were you I would be looking at the different cities I could live in....depend on school loans, and work out your financial aid for college, try to get great grades and hone your drawing skills. Start looking into design schools out here....trust me when I say you will like living here a lot better once you are here. One thing that could help you is this....girls seem to be more understanding and open-minded about it...especially girls that are looking for a friend or boy-attention. Maybe seek out someone who you can hang out with and open up to them in a secretive fashion. Hope that helps. Ocn: take Chris' advice and let the co-worker know your feelings....you are obviously feeling too much pain keeping it in. Make it blatantly clear that if he doesn't reciprocate their will be no wierdness, and that you hope you can still at least remain friends if he can't accept your feelings.
  19. I don't think a SUV such as the TB SS is pointless, as long as it retains its towing qualities and load-lugging qualities. It seems GC sacrficed a lot of road comfort....and lost. Now, where's that bias?
  20. my sentiment is that as long as positive increases can be maintained, I hope less through fleet sales and more through retail sales, then GM's outlook will at least improve.
  21. relatively speaking, the civic si gets bad mileage, however since its overall performance and sporty character are comparable to Cobalt SS SC, even if accelerattion numbers are not, that car would be a better and fair comparison for mileage figures. I know the Cobalt is faster, but compare the mileage to that car. And I am not apologizing for the Civic's poor mileage, I said it is bad, and that's a good thing for GM's car. Though I'm positive people who end up buying this car won't be as concerned with that issue as many here would like them to be. Build a bridge and get over it.
  22. nice post, i agree
  23. I'm assuming the collective silence means Ghosn would have chosen a better route than GM did.

    G5

I guess we will all have to get over it and live with a tarnished Pontiac for several more years with product undeserving of the proper image of Pontiac. Get over it. Move on. Cobalt clone coming, here to stay for some time. Hopefully GM can get in thier right mind and eventually come around to producing a RWD 1-serries competitor.....and by the time it comes out I can buy one for my son.
