  6. Pink Floyd certainly is a bizarre name for a band, isn't it? It is widely thought that the band is named after two American blues musicians, Pink Anderson and Floyd Council. There is an alternate story that Syd Barrett got the name from a flying saucer, but then again, Syd Barrett was drugged out of his mind. However, I have recently discovered that the name Floyd means "the hollow." Ponder that for a moment.

  10. old men I think this thread is now the longest on C&G. The picture thread only has 39 pages.
  11. Yeah, see, my girlfriend's a month into a 5 month study abroad trip to Spain, so the number of romantic activities I can do today are pretty limited. But I did have a nice long conversation with her today, which was very nice.
  12. This reminds me back in high school on the few occasions when I'd have to drive through some snow/ice/sluch mix. When I got to school, I heard a lot of kids complaining about how slippery the roads were and how they almost got in a wreck. Given that these were high school kids, most of them had vehicles that were FWD. Meanwhile, I had a longer commute than almost all of them, through a lot of curvy roads, while on my Mustang, and handled it with no problems whatsoever. The Morals of the story? 1. NC drivers suck in winter weather. 2. RWD ain't all that bad if you know how to respect it.
  13. Pontiac should definitely get sued for the use of Solstice. The only question remains as to whether it should be sued by pagans or by the Earth itself. And of course, the state of Colorado. Sometimes I forget if it's powered by an I4 or I5. I don't see why they're complaining, I mean it has to be great for PR with environmentalists to say that an entire state can be powered by one truck engine, but apparently it upsets them.
  14. Every day. I always wake up between 15 minutes to an hour before my alarm is supposed to go off, and I can never get back to sleep before I have to get up.

    Music..

Lately I've been on more of a mellow kick, listening to a lot more college rock type stuff, especially Jump, Little Children. I'm not sure how popular they are in the rest of the country, but they're really big on the North Carolina college scene. Sadly they just broke up, I guess because all their fans are college kids who became their fans by pirating their music and never bought their albums. I try to be eclectic. Besides Jump, the last album I bought was Mos Def's "The New Danger." He's a much better overall musician than most other artists in the rap/hip hop genre that I've heard. And his music's political, which I love. It's a huge reason why Metallica is my favorite band (their old stuff anyway, some of the new.) Other stuff I like tends to just be fun rock, like The Who and Queen, and for newer stuff, Coheed and Cambria (avatar) and Motion City Soundtrack.
  17. Dance music of any kind is fun . . . if I'm actually dancing. If not, it generally sucks and I have no desire to listen to it.
