  1. I'm not sure, but I'm not too worried about it. My professor also noted that most physicians score in the 11-13 range.
  2. Why not just boil the rice first, then mix with the soup? Having a George Foreman grill has come in handy this year in my apartment, especially since we're not allowed to have a real one on our balcony. Grill some chicken, mix with some sauce, serve with pasta. Or get any marinade, soak yer chicken in it, put it over whatever vegetables you like, grill, and serve. Those are the main types of recipes that come to mind. I'm not exactly a gourmet chef.
  3. I'm guessing probably not. In one of my psychology classes, we had a discussion on death yesterday, and took a quiz about how much we think/worry about death. The average is a 3 or 4, out of 15. I got an 11. Yeah. I rule. But then it got me thinking of how I wanted to die, and how I expected others to die as well. A few hypotheses: Sixty8: Don't want to give away too many details, but for a guy whose weekend hobbies include crashing cars into things, I assure you that it'll be the stuff of legend. FOG: Mysteriously vanished one night without a trace. The only thing the neighbors could say was that they saw a black Toyota Sienna with tinted windows driving through the neighborhood the night of his disappearance. Croc: In a cruel twist of fate, actually eaten by a wild crocodile. Fly: In a cruel twist of fate, actually eaten by a feraled Oldsmobile. NOS: Tragically sucked into some machinery by his collar. Mourners at his funeral could be heard crying and saying "if only he had listened when we said to turn it down!" Hmm. That's all I can think of at the moment.
  4. Nice pics. The train tunnel one is especially cool.

Aye, so I've been told. I guess that's what happens when you go two years without a haircut (minus minor trims to avoid mullets.)
  7. Come on, penguin. You know what you really want is the challenge of souping up a boat anchor V6 with an automatic into a beast. And I'll even be nice and trade it to you straight up, with no extra charge. Oh, and welcome to Cheers and Gears!

Yeah, I know. I saw your strom and raised you a heathen sodomite. :evil James Bond villain voice: Your move, Mr. Blu.

    Tornados

Aye, and apparently he's already convinced God to send his wrath down on those heathen sodomites of the Midwest.
  10. I think it has more to do with the fact that there's a giant black square that doesn't flow with the rest of the interior just sitting right in the middle of the dash than it does with any of the particular switches on it.
  11. Have you honestly ever heard a person say that they advocated third trimester abortions that weren't for cases when the woman's health was in jeopardy? I don't mean what a third party has said they believe, but what the person has actually said about their own beliefs. If so, please PM me with some names, because I want to make sure I never vote for those people.
  12. Oh, believe me, I know that one all too well. I've had so many experiences where people from my hometown look at me with genuine scorn when they find out I go to a "liberal" university. Both views can be annoying and equally misleading. I'm a believer that our language has a huge impact on our beliefs.
  13. Reading that article, it looks like they're just using the words "liberal" and "conservative" interchangeably with "open-minded" and "closed minded". I can definitely see a whiny kid growing up to be closed-minded, but I'd like to see just what sorts of measures they used to define conservatism, because there's a big difference between say, taking a "Conservative Christian" stance on gender roles versus taking a minimalist view of economic policy.
  14. Or if, by producing more higher-trim models, GM could make the rental car companies buy those instead of base ones, it could help too. Give people a a better experience with the car than they would have gotten otherwise. I'm not sure if the rental companies would go for that sort of thing, but if so, it would certainly be worth looking into.

    Deb Lafave....

Funny thing is if you reversed the genders and went back a century or so, people wouldn't bat an eye at a possible relationship between a 14 year old and a 25 year old.
  16. Yah, that's the one. I'm not sure what the actual horsepower and torque was, but for some reason, I feel like it should have been somewhere around 270 and 400. I'm pretty sure its horsepower numbers were slipping too by 74, but it was still in much better shape than its competition.
  17. Uhhh, 74 Trans Am?
  18. Damn, I wish I could have a failsafe excuse every time I did something dumb. Oh wait, I'm a double major in psychology and sociology. I can rationalize responsibility away from anyone for anything.

    The Haircut

I think it's a sign that you need a new haircut. Post a pic of the carnage, and we can have a photoshop contest to find that perfect look for you.
  21. Nah, I've agreed with you on plenty of points; I just think your delivery could use some work. Besides, it's much more fun to argue than say "righto, Croc, jolly good point you just made." Well, actually, it isn't if I'm going to use fake British speech, but under normal circumstances, it would be. The only time I drink vodka is in mixers, so I don't usually spring for the fancy stuff. I've had Grey Goose mixers before, liked it , but a little taste doesn't really bother me, so I usually get something cheap, namely Vladimir. Speaking of cheap vodka, has anyone here ever tried the trick of running vodka through a Brita filter? I hear it does wonders for the taste.
  22. Come on, Fly, if you want to argue with Croc, you need to wait in line like everyone else. No special moderator priveleges!
  23. Hmm, I can see how one might find that stigma a tad bit offensive, but as you've said yourself, that's a problem that's neither representative of nor limited to fraternities.
  24. I've never understood the appeal of vodka. To me, it's like the fish of the alcohol world. How good it is is dependent on how little it tastes like itself. If I'm going to drink, I prefer whiskey, especially bourbon, but I haven't gotten drunk since the summer.
