  5. [After seeing lauren's sig pic:] Welcome! I like the Del Sol, it's a nice rack- oops, I mean ride. Lots of potential in those cans- uh, cars. Any plans for yours? I almost bought one in 1995 when I was car shopping just out of cleavage- college. Very fun little roller skate on the breast drive- test drive, but at the time I was already driving one, my old 78 Civic CVCC, so I got my GTP instead. (The above was meant in jest, please don't take offense! ) Seriously, IIRC the Japan version had a fantastic power-operated top removal system- basically, the whole trunklid would rise up, still horizontal, the top would pop up and "jaws" would slide forward from the trunklid, grab the top panel, and draw it in. The trunklid would then drop back into place. Cool!
  6. Holy cats! That was one of the first cars my parents had when they moved to the US in 1971! Pretty sure it was a 67, sure looks like yours anyway. Somewhere among my family members is a pic of mom, dad, brother, and older sister posing with the car- my brother was strategically placed to hid a big dent in the door! More pics of this car please!

  8. Man, you could fit a small child in that wheel gap. Hard to tell what's different from a regular GP, but the larger spoiler is cool. Those new GPs are just *begging* for some neutral-density taillights.

  10. Hi all, As far as I can tell, there are 2 companies making 1/18th-scale Solstii: Yat Ming and Road Signature. Does anyone happen to have one o feach and can compare them for me? I've seen the Road Signature one in a store, and it looks nice enough, thru the box, anyway. I'd like a blue one, FWIW. Just wondering if one is better than the other for any reason- accuracy, detail, quality, etc. TIA!
  11. Try a glass of Coke w/ an Alka-Seltzer in it. My dad had my wife try this, and it does help her. Can't tell ya why.

    Tomcats are and always will be awesome. I hope the remaining planes are made available to air shows, museums, etc. I'd love to see one up close, never have. I wonder if any wealthy airplane hobbyists would be allowed to buy one, and if so, if I could get a ride? When I was a kid I received as a Christmas gift the GI Joe "Skystriker", an F-14 fighter in the 3-3/4in.-scale. It was huge, and totally awesome, if not exact in its details. Still have it somewhere, I should refurb it.
  14. -Gus, 34 -Nov. 1997, driving from Chicago to San Francisco, down the PCH to L.A., then back to Chicago. Almost 3 tanks of gas a day, cruise set to 85, no tickets, drove on the Bonneville Salt Flats, survived a massive blizzard in New Mexico. I rule!

  18. As much as I hate- I mean *HATE*- quick-and-dirty, on-the-cheap, blatant badge engineering, I do think this is good for Pontiac, especially (and possibly only) for newer/younger Pontiac fans. Older fans will lament the days when Pontiac had truly unique and indiviual styling (if they aren't already), but the younger folks will get an affordable Pontiac to start their engines, as it were. Hopefully, it will sell well, and GM will see fit to deliver to Pontiac dealers a unique entry-level Poncho that doesn't have Chevy written underneath, like a Hot Wheels car. We can hope. I happen to not-hate the Pursuit/"G5" styling, and I would not mind one at all, as long as there's a GXP version (don't get me started on the whole "GXP" meaninglessness...).

  21. Congrats, GM! Two fantastic vehicles, well-deserved of praise and recognition. Sadly, this thread is as close as I will ever come to owning either one, but that's my problem. :AH-HA_wink:
  22. Agree w/ Enzora almost entirely- except that I don't like the new Camaro, it's trying too hard to look both modern and like a 69. Pick one and run with it, jeez. Also agree w/ BV- retro to me is just laziness wrapped in a pleasing candy coating. Take a great, timeless design from ages past and smooth it out here, stretch it there, and call it an homage. How unfulfilling. Back in the 90s, I always thought that car makers would go nuts for the 2000MY and beyond, giving us truly unique cars that really made it clear that this was to be a whole new century for the automobile. I'm still waiting for that.
  23. I said white w/ tan. My GP is white w/ the dark gray interior- very dark, almost black. It's all one solid sea of gray, a little depressing, altho I have spruced it up w/ white details. If I had it to do over again I might have gone w/ the "camel" or tan interior. HTH, good luck.
  24. Sorry for resurrecting this thread, but it fits what I had in mind about the Pursuit/"G4". I would love to see this car in the US as the modern-day Sunbird/Sunfire, a small FWD sporty Pontiac coupe. However, simply slapping a Poncho nose and tail on it is not enough. I seem to recall that the Sunbird/Sunfire and Chevy Cavalier had at least moderately different styling, enough to set them apart. I felt that GM did a great job of this in the 90s w/ the W-body Lumina/Grand Prix/Cutlass cars. Same platform and drivetrains, but significantly different sheet metal and greenhouses gave them all truly distinct looks. IMHO anyway. Blatant rebadging sucks, but I'm all for a car that shares only a small amount of sheet metal and has a different greenhouse or glass arangement to make it different from its Chevy source.
