  1. Funny stuff, but if you think about it, some of those "viewpoints" may have been quite popular a few decades ago. Scary stuff.

    Beauty

Three great GT cars, in the true Grand Touring tradition- at least I happen to think so. Esp. the Ferrari (456GT?)- sweet!
  3. I never dragged my GTP much, but she did run a best of [email protected], w/ a cone filter, smooth intake pipe, and underdrive crank pulley. That was at about 120,000 miles or so. Not sure what she'd do now- I did a little valve refreshing a few months ago which might have helped compression, but she's too old for that kind of abuse now. (Not too old for other kinds, tho... B) )
  4. Yes, look at where the damage on the truck on top is- right where the Vette plowed in and lifted it up. Damn shame- no Vette for you!!
  5. My top 3: -Bob Seger's "Little Drummer Boy"- moves me to tears every year... (got it on CD last year!) -Trans-Siberian Orchestra's "Carol of the Bells" (I think that's the name)- this version just soars, very powerful -Barenaked Ladies/Sarah Maclachlan (sp?) "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen"- fantastic vocals, esp. by Sarah M.
  6. Hmm, just found this thread... There's a Lee Auto Parts near me in Des Plaines, and one of the guys there sells die casts, mostly 1:64th, and he uses some of them to make little dioramas of dealer lots and showrooms, complete with tiny signs on the cars and whatnot. Very cool, he uses late model and classics on the same "lot". He's had a couple nice Pontiac lots, w/ new and old TA's, and classic GTO's and GPs. If I lived in more than 800sq. ft. I'd do something like that myself. :AH-HA_wink:
  7. You read my mind. I was just noticing that the other day. You'd think the different car co's would want to differentiate among themselves. Guess not. That's why I like my GP's tails- great big gridded cinder block taillights. No mistaking those for anything else. :word:
  8. Is that a special dash plaque in there? It's beautiful! I think I felt it move- and I don't mean the plaque, either! Now for my standard bit of can't-have-a-Solstice weeping- please, turn away... :(
  9. OMG, it's happened: a Vette uglier than Mark Hamill's "Corvette Summer" car! :o As to how it happened, I'm going to say "lots and lots of hallucinogenics"...
  10. I'm not a fan of sedans, but I'd buy that in a minute!! The 3.4L DOHC loves the 5-speed, I have a friend w/ a 5-spd DOHC GP sedan and it flies. That's a rare Cutlass, I hope the buyer knows that.
  11. I used to be a hardcore urban dweller. I was born and raised in Chicago- actually in Chicago, not in Evanston or Skokie as some will try to tell you (that's still a huge peeve of mine: "Where you from?" "Chicago." Really, what part"? "Schaumburg." *smack!*). Anyway, a few years ago it started getting to me- the crowding, the people, the madness. Esp. driving, it was no longer fun. Living on the North side for over 30 years, I knew the place like the back of my hand, and it was fun driving those streets as their self-appointed king. Unfortunately, as I matured, I noticed how awful other people behaved in the anonymity of their vehicles- they'd drive right over you to get a single car length ahead in traffic, and they'd drive like they were the only car on the road. Never mind using turn signals. It got so bad that I would be completely beside myself with rage by the time I got home from work. I hated having to go out because it was all just too much. We moved to Park Ridge, just outside the city, and it's night and day. Less crowding on the roads, and people actually seem to notice each other. (It's probably not even all that less, but it sure feels like it.) Lynne and I really look forward to pushing even further out from the city someday, into what you might call the boonies. Some small city or large town somewhere, maybe 50k or so in population, someplace where quiet country roads are just out beyond the WalMart, not 90 minutes away. Someplace where people actualyl see each other, maybe even take care to avoid offending or causing inconvenience. I think I'm def. becoming more of a rural spirit as I grow older; Lynne too, we keep trying to think of what we could do for money in some small town somewhere. :)
  12. Back in college, I ran into a friend who was walking with a girl he knew. We said hi to each other and I told her my name was Gus. She said, "Oh, are you Greek?" (I actually get that a lot, but I'm not). I tell her no, it's short for Gustavo, I'm Colombian. She stops walking and asks me, "Really? Are you sure you're not Greek?"
  13. Pretty cool, but too many doors...
  14. Pep Boys, etc, sells universal weatherstripping. You might take a piece of yours to compare, and find some new stuff that looks close in size and shape, then replace the bad sections of yours. RTV silicone will be your friend in this endeavor, HTH and good luck. Hey, can we see some pics of the car, I love those Cutty verts!
  15. OOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHH why!!!!!????? Why CaddyRich, why do you tease me so? That's exactly what I want, that scheme and nicely loaded! :P My wife said I can buy one if we hit the lottery and end up w/ enough in the bank to ourselves to be completely financially secure (after sharing w/ family). I'm afraid I'll have to pass on this one, but thx for asking. Now everybody log off, I'm gonna sit here and cry online and I don't want anyone to see me... :( :( (Love the new smileys, but we need one that's crying.)
  16. I wish they would have a show called "Fix My Ride", where they would do just that: fix everything that's wrong w/ your car and give it back to you good as new. That's what I tell my wife: if she ever wants to get my car "pimped" or "Overhauled", or whatever, don't let them go nuts w/ it, I don't want 10,000 watts of stereo or a paint job you can see from space. I just want my AC to work. And my power locks. And I want the handful of rust spots fixed. And the trunk to stop leaking. And the engine temp sensor replaced. <sigh>
  17. BuddyP, I'd love to see a rear shot of this- the rear of the G6 coupe is its weakest area IMHO. Maybe post in the Showcase so as not to pollute this thread?
  18. Hmm, the article didn't mention the large amount of power that several large solenoids will draw. That is another hurdle, one that could be eased by increasing automotive electrical voltage to 36V or 48V, as has been tossed around for a while now. I suppose the valve solenoids themselves could be supplied by separate 48V power...
  19. That's a beautiful woman, she's got this Sarah Michelle Geller/ Amanda Bynes thing goin' on. We approve. :booyah:
  20. She also appears to be on fire. :o Figures I catch this thread after he deletes some of the pics. Just as well anyway- I'm married, I don't need this kind of stimulation. <_<
  21. They rock, I have all their albums... :P
  22. Somehow my hand-drawn avatar got lost, and now I can't find where I was hosting it. So I changed it to a nice shot of my GTP, a little grainy due to scaling. Enjoy! http://www.cheersandgears.com/public/style_emoticons/default/AH-HA_wink.gif And hats off to BV, such an inspiring speech! B) Makes me wanna drive real fast!
  23. What a beauty, congrats! How long have you had it? How many miles? Lookin' good!
  24. I hereby reserve the right to beetch-slap any and all Solstice buyers who put less than 9,000 miles a year on them- that's a grand a month for the 9 non-snowy months in the northern states. Drive that car, dammit, it's the hottest thing on 4 wheels since the last time Jennifer Garner went rollerblading.
  25. I thought the only Solstice I would ever own would be a die-cast; this one at least I can sit in. <sigh> You can paint plastic, right...?
