    Yes, I know, dead thread, but over the past two days, I've seen a blue Lucerne CX (rental), a silverish Lucerne CXL, and a grey Solstice.

  12. I'd do it the Honda way by extending their warranties or buying back the cars or something to silence the negative publicity. Normally when the transmission of, say, a post-warranty Odyssey blows up, Honda will more than likely quietly repair it as a gesture of "good will".
  13. With all that said, I'd rather have a small, good-handling SUV than a larger, poorer-handling one. Why I'd have an SUV in the first place, I don't know... Btw, I've grown to like the X3 more... have to admit there's something exciting, no matter how daft and pointless it is, about a tall 4095-lb SUV that does 0.88g on the skidpad and stops from 70 mph sooner than a Corvette can (157 ft).

  16. No $h!, Sherlock... The 5-series, as well as the E-class, A6, GS, M, RL, and STS are in a class above the big and cheap CTS.
  17. We've had this discussion many, many times before. I still insist that the CTS is a 3-series competitor in the US, regardless of size. After all, I don't go about carrying a tape measure, but the CTS would make more sense in the Cadillac lineup if it lost ten inches. The CTS may technically be a similar size to the 5-series, but it has nowhere near the sophisication or quality expected of that segment. The CTS is perfectly competitive against the 3-series, however.

  19. I know what you're saying... in their ads, Hyundai claims that the Azera has a larger interior than a 760Li. Sure doesn't feel like it.

  22. The Lucerne's tail looks more like the Passat's than the Phaeton's, which is blockier.

  24. I can't agree with everything you said... the Avalon suffers from techno-silvery bits and a non-woven headliner, for instance. But my main issue with the Lucerne is that Buick set out to make it representative of the "new" GM, the revolutionary GM that will dispel myths and change perceptions. You can see it in their commercials and brochures and press releases. Yet the Lucerne carries on a few inexcusable bad habits, obvious cost-cutting traits like the low-budget materials. The Lucerne could have, should have been something revolutionary for GM.
