  1. I say to hell with it! Let them continue to buy imported $h! and run up the deficit. I can't f*ckin' wait until this ignorant country falls flat on it's face. Maybe people like me can even get a few kicks in while it's down. I can survive the bad times, can you?
  2. Hey, it's a new Altima... Err, Accord... No wait. Ah, what the hell, they all look the same now anyway. So much for individuality
  3. I think the current Vette is capable enough to hold out until then :AH-HA_wink:
  4. No surprises here... I mean, this is the same company that RIPPED OFF Chevrolet's motor design for NASCAR (Then was credited in the media for "re-engineering it to be better") This is also the same company that was caught cheating not halfway into their first NASCAR season. This is also the company that can't seem to even qualify for a NASCAR race most of the time, much less run competitively. Yet NASCAR applauded them for a "legendary effort" This is the same company that has put out initial press releases NOT ONCE, BUT TWICE NOW stating that they outsold one of the big 3 (First Ford, then GM) in global sales to inspire a media blitz and then shy away from it like it was some sort of big "mistake" It's Toyota... 90% of their company and reputation is straight smoke and mirrors. They cheat at EVERYTHING. For Toyota, and the asians in general, CHEATING is business and it's how they've become so successful. They're entire operations are built on false promises and achievements.
  5. This makes me just want to put on my GM shirt and give the middle finger to every import driver I see. (Yep, I know... But it's funny!)
  6. QFT! Welcome to C&G!
  7. Awesome!!! I'm fine with modifying the V8 to meet the future, (Even if it means I have the option to run on electricity for 400 urban miles or so) as long as I can have the choice of a V8. (Which I will definitely opt for)
  8. Electric F1 cars. Yay! (As I load the gun)
  9. I would support that. I've always been a Lotus fan! They do amazing things with very little. (Monetary and otherwise)
  10. Once again, read the article again and then read my post again. The performance WILL NOT BE THE SAME according to this source. And I'm pretty sure they're right. You can't just drop that much power and expect 300 pounds worth of weight savings to compensate for it.
  11. And posts like this point out the elitest bull$h! and effeminate political correctness that is destroying this country. Time to grow up and face reality. People aren't homogeneous, especially on the internet. I would think if you're so much more intelligent than some 'example of ignorance' that you'd at least be able to step outside the box and accept diversity. What you obviously don't realize is that I'm more privy to your plight than you might think. Your the kind of person that preaches one thing, then turns right around and commits the sin you whined about in the first place. If I am in fact ignorant, then you're the definition of a hypocrite
  12. Well, that is the point isn't it? It's not about saving the environment. If it were, Congress would seek to limit driving habits instead of promoting efficiency. They would also seek to help families buy newer more efficient cars instead of forcing the prices up $6000. They would invest in public transit and alternative fuels instead of funding a war for oil. Etc, etc.
  13. Obviously, a lot of my post was said in jest. Like I told Satty, you're wasting your time holding a personal grudge against me because it's not a battle you will win. I'm sorry that you can't be open minded enough to *GASP* respect my freedom to display an avatar of my choice. But I'm really tired of your attacks based on that. If you have nothing better to say, then don't bother coming out from under your bridge in my threads And that goes for everyone here in the "bash FOG" club. I appreciate the support and attention, but I'm trying to put my days of warfare on C&G behind me.
  14. I have no problem with a little less power... But the Z06 dropping 155 horsepower just isn't going to cut it. The article states that the car will likely be slower than current models, so those of you who think performance will be better might want to re-read. If the car actually does perform better with less power, then great! One positive note from the article: It discusses a 4.7L V8 which might confirm that GM is still investing in V8s (Unlike Chrysler, apparently)
  15. That, and me thinks that if he were a top exec (or close to it) he'd be pulling 60 hour weeks and wouldn't have enough time to be as active as he is on C&G. Not to mention, folks inside the company would be able to identify him very easily which wouldn't be a positive scenario for a career move, given the motives he's discussed here.
  16. I disagree entirely... BMW and Benz will just pass the expense to the customer, does Cadillac have enough prestige to do that? We'll see. I disagree again... GM is going to get hit the worst by CAFE (As was Congress' plan) because it's product mix is so heavily geared towards trucks. And when it comes to profittable trucks compared to limited sports cars, who do you think GM is going to greenlight? Ferrari will not get an exemption... One of the main goals of the new plan was no exemptions for any company. Mark my words. GM will be an extremist auto company for as long as trucks sell. They'll make large, profittable trucks and small, crappy cars to offset them.
  17. Maybe there was an under the table deal to destroy the V8 as part of the CAFE regs. Or maybe Press truly will make Chrysler a Toyota with an american badege. Or maybe too many people connotate V8 with anti-green (Doubtful, since MOST people are too ignorant to even know what's under the hood of their own car) I don't know.... But I don't like it at all. All of te things that were going to give Detroit a fighting chance at coming back were apparently the target of CAFE. No more performance... No more uniquely american designs... No more comfortable cars or capable SUVs... etc. I'm thinking more and more that Bob Lutz quote about CAFE being punitive was entirely accurate. Detroit was showing so signs of major life, so the anit-Detroit rose up and legislated them out of existence. (Don't worry, the fallout won't be felt for a few more years)
  18. Yeah, but it's the Corvette... Where is the weight going to come from, the car is already very efficient. Oh, and a few more tidbits to make you guys as unhappy as me 1) If an Alpha Camaro is approved, it likely wont feature a V8 2) Even more 'insiders' are now predicting the death of the V8 around 2014-2015 3) Wagoner believes that it will only take about 12 years to transform our roads into lame, "humming" electric and fuel cell cars. Yay! No more fun cars! One more reason for me to shoot myself and end this miserable existence.
  19. Really? I've heard a few different things; 1) An Alpha G6 2) An Eps II G6 until Alpha arrives and 3) An updated G6 on the current platform. How 'bout a Solstice Targa then?
  20. My GF's brother is the not so proud owner of a previous gen Civic. A year or so back they had a major recall over the headlights just cutting off in the middle of a commute. (I don't remember seeing that one in the mainstream press) He was a good lil sheep and took his car in for the needed repairs. Fast forward to 2 weeks ago when he and his girlfriend are driving home from work one night and his headlights just randomly cut off. He takes it into the dealership again and they say: 1) The recall was never performed on the car in the first place (Umm, what?) 2) Because the car is out of warranty they charge him $187 for the new switch. And 3) If he wants to get his money back for the recall, he can call the Honda number and talk to someone there about it. *** Honestly, I really don't know why people are still so ignorant as to buy asian cars. *** (Well, okay, I may be a little biased :AH-HA_wink:)
  21. http://www.motorauthority.com/news/industr...-green-instead/ Well, it looks like my reality of not owning a new car and instead relying on classic is getting closer every hour.
  22. That's some It can be interpreted in a few different ways as well... 1) Of course it's not the powertrain of the future, it's a proven technology. 2) I'm willing to bet that any "kid" you talk to today knows what a Hemi is; if for no other reason than the EXTREMELY successful ad blitz of a few years ago. 3) That piece makes the motor sound outdated and it certainly isn't. I just don't see why we can't have the CHOICE of a V8. It's overreacting a bit to just up and cancel V8s left and right just because of fuel economy rules that are "attainable" in the first place. What has gotten in to these automakers? I don't see the Japs or Europeans abandoning their V8 programs. It's almost like the CAFE magically made the mindset in Detroit regress 20 years to the dark ages of motor technology... GM announced that it wouldn't invest in development of anymore V8 lines anytime soon. HOPEFULLY that means they're just going to focus on the LS line. And I'm not sure Chrysler will completely abandon the Hemi. I don't know about you guys, but I don't want a f*ckin' electric car that whizzes to 60 mph in 6 seconds. If I wanted that, I'd just buy an xbox and play games. There is no excitement or individuality in that... But alas, it's the continued globalization and subsequent DUMBING DOWN of american culture.
  23. I agree... And that is one definite reason I would support killing a Zeta Impala. Not to mention, Lutz has always been a champion of Pontiac, so he could've been the one to pull the plug on GMX551 for that very reason.
  24. Yet again, I ask: what does RWD have to do with not being green? Sure, a Zeta Impala might offer a V8 but me thinks "performance sedan" is a far stretch for the car since Pontiac covers that with the G8. And FWIW, sources close to the F5 Camaro are stating that it DOES NOT need the additional volume of a Zeta Impala to exist because development was dirt cheap.
  25. I don't think we will see a wholesale abandonment of Zeta. We've lost 1 and 1 more potential probably for reasons other than what certain posters here attribute. Reuss wanting to develop a hybrid version of the platform is reason enough for hope.
