  1. Rumor has it that this engine will be built at Tonawanda. So, with the cancelation of the N* replacement, I'd say they could tool up pretty quick.
  2. I think this is evidence of how rushed the Challenger was... But, in reality, it doesn't really need a great interior to sell and maybe that's why they did it this way. It's nice, and I am still a Challenger fan, but it could've been better.
  3. It's even more contradictory when one considers the berating they gave the Camry and Toyota in general last year.
  4. Welp, it looks as if our car culture is coming to an end... The spoilsports have all suceeded in making cars appliances and blobs without personality (Unless you're an electricity humping snot-nosed geek) If this is the way of the future, then F-U GM and F-U Congress. I'll have fun driving my classics. This is the last straw... If GM fails to produce desireable cars after giving us proverbial blue balls for 6 years now, I'm out. Funny that Ford, Chrysler and Hyundai can all make RWD 'work'. Guess I'll buy from them. Oh, and FWIW, I'll not buy a hybrid Camaro either unless they can somehow incorporate a manual tranny.
  5. LOL Same $h!; different day.. In the world of CR, it's always the japanese first, the domestics second-ish and the euros third. Wow, the Malibu ranks behind ALL of the mainstream asian offerings.. Umm, gee, oh, ahh, what an accomplishment! Hell, I guess we can safely say it's a better car than what; the koreans now. Whoop-te-friggin'-do. The time where CR was relevnt (If there ever was a time) has come and gone. Even they admit their own bias now.
  6. Interesting... I did not know that.
  7. http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Featu...cleId=124607#24 Not a bad write up... Not a good write up either because it pretty much gives NO information about the car what-so-ever (That you couldn't get from looking over the press release) I really didn't appreciate the ending... I think it's pretty damn cool that you can get this much car for $27-$29 and I think it'll be very beneficial to Pontiac. It's almost as if GM spent a few dollars on the G8, and the media rags know that. So, they'll go out of their way not to promote the car or give it the credit it deserves.
  8. The irony of the situation here is; the N* replacement was rumored to be the V8 in the upcoming Acadia Denali and Enclave version of that. Now, if this concept is executed on Lambda, GM will probably have to re-engineer it to fit this motor (Which might be why Zeta is being considered anyway) * I could be wrong though, the Lambdas could've been scheduled for LS V8s all along. EDIT: Ya know, it's just too bad that the G8 didn't get striking sheet metal like this.
  9. Legalized robbery. Our country is basically being held hostage by oil companies. I really hope they catch hell for this. It wouldn't bother me if it wasn't "record profit" each time we hear about it. I think Exxon surpassed every mark this time didn't they? To become the biggest profit ever recorded.
  10. I really don't know how much power PCS has. Judging by his posts and knowledge, he deals with manufacturing facilities and I'm not sure how he's tied to GME unless he just has their best interests at heart for some reason. He mentioned embarking on a project that he was extremely excited about (For negative reason) at about the same time the Zeta plant in Canada started making the news and the CAW started whining. So, I assume that to be his project, maybe studying the viability of producing Zetas in NA. *Theoretically* that means he would have some input on the future of Holden (If all Zetas are made here/ If Zeta is canned) or the future of GMNA (IF Zeta is canned or sent strictly to China/The Middle East) Keep in mind that PCS was also the one telling us that we wouldn't see a G8 ST and that the Denali XT was doomed from the start. As far as the diesels go... I've heard both versions of the story and I believe there is more than one way to skin the cat. We have hybrid technology being fitted to Zeta, we also have the GMT900 bound diesel planned for a plant by itself. GM could easily 'quick fix' Zeta for it and then use the production capacity slated for the canceled Northstar replacement to build copies for Zeta. As far as Cadillac goes; I certainly hope GM knows what it's doing. I really think canceling the N* was a mistake unless they incorporate the technology from it into the LS line and give it to Cadillac. Cadillac should receive both Zeta and Alpha and Zeta in 2012 is pretty far out. FWIW, I definitely prefer DTS/CTS to stupid DT6/CT-whatever nomenclature. I guess that's GM's cop out to not promoting the cars enough ("We'll inform the consumer by actually incorporating the BMW number lines into our products names!" ---Lame) Not to mention, I'm sure the consumer will constantly confuse Pontiac models with Cadillac models. Not smart, to associate your premiere division with your most damaged division IMO.
  11. True that... Hopefully those lost sales were planned fleet reductions.
  12. Saab really needs product to remain viable. I can't believe there are whispers of phasing out Pontiac and Buick while Saab has drained the bank for years now. Hopefully the G8 line and new Vibe will be enough of a boost for Pontiac to be in the positive. Hummer needs product NOW! I fear that the division will get a very negative connotation (it's 1980 all over again, with GM neglecting a division) even more so than it has now. (Thanks to the greenies and import humping press) Nice!!! And in the middle of winter...
  13. I freakin' LOVE it man! I'm floored by this; I never expected it to be this good! I love everything about it, excepting maybe the slightly overdone (IMO) tailgate. Produce it GM.... errr... Produce it ON ZETA GM
  14. If GM removes the V8 from the Mustang, it'll be great for us, because Camaro will sell like crazy. I don't understand why these automakers don't get it... You make the mainstream cars turbo 6ers and 4s, then LIMIT the V8 to X-thousand copies in each car (Because going forward, and even now, V8s are for the enthusiasts anyway) Why not make a kick ass Turbo V6 Mustang/Camaro that handles well and is highly desireable. Then make a limited (ZR1 style, except maybe not that limited) top of the line V8 version. Better yet, why not innovate via E85 and hydrogen and KEEP the V8s?!?!? But no, that'd make too much sense in our "downsize everything and be a girly bitch for the sake of the world" society. I'm so tired of the downsizing of EVERYTHING.
  15. This doesn't make any sense... Why would GM do that? (I'm not questioning you; rather GM's judgement) I guess we'll see the merit of it soon enough.
  16. All I know is: No V8=Blasphemy. Play around with diesel, turbo 4s and 6s or whatever. But don't touch my V8. GM never said it was abandoning V8s, actually, they've said that the V8 will remain. GM said it would not invest in a new line of V8 engines which means that LS will be the solitary line for GM as a whole in the forseable future. Or, basically that the N* replacement is on indefinite hiatus and will not be replaced by a new engine. If the Camaro does not offer a V8 then I guess I'll move up to a Corvette. If GM does not offer a V8, then I'll go elsewhere or buy classic.
  17. Comments: Saab: The 9-4 Concept looks very conservative but nice. I think GM was reluctant to do anything really different but I think it'll do well. I loved the Aero X as well as the concepts before it and was hoping to see more influence from them. Saturn: Wow, the Flextreme seems more boring in these pics and it really does literally "crap segways" as Chris said. The Volt looks much, much better and will appeal more to the american market. I'd probably buy the Volt but not the Flextreme; I'm not saying it's a bad design, just that it doesn't fit me well. The interior of the Astra seems so bland, but over all it's a sharp piece! Hummer: The HX looks even better on the floor than it did in the publicity shots. If this is the future of Hummer, I'm definitely a fan and I'll definitely be shopping the division. I LOVE the HX (Even more that the H3T) Cadillac: Oh my god, the CTS Coupe is the closest to sex that an automobile has ever come. It really is orgasmic! The Provoq looked good in the PR shots, but the front 3/4 reminds me A LOT of the Vue. I think it has potential if GM executes it right. But it could also spell disaster for Cadillac if GM cheaps out or just rebadges a Vue. The CTS-V is a looker and it has the goods but it needs to sit about an inch lower. Buick: The Riviera is very appealing, but it doesn't seem to have the same elegance as Buick concepts designed in the states (Lacrosse, Enclave, Signia, etc) I really can't wait for the new Lacrosse. I noticed that it still sports the red, white and blue Buick logo. It's a shame that americns connotate color logos with "bad quality" or "cheapness" (When the opposite is usually true as color indicates detail) I always loved the red, white and blue shields. Pontiac: The Vibe looks VERY good in these shots! The design seems to be very cohesive and well put together; it has the potential to be a big hit for Pontiac volume-wise if GM gives it any promotion. The only thing I don't like is the huge blobish taillights and those seem to be a staple on EVERY asian designed or related car. (Boring, blob-like HUGE tailights) I can see the similarities between it, the G8, the Solstice SD290 and the G6. It seems that what little design language Pontiac now has is at least coming together on all thier offerings. As for the G8, the jury is still out on both the interior and exterior. Chevrolet: God forbid that Aveo 5 is ugly... It seems that all of the automakers are racing to see who can make the ugliest small car on the market. The HHR SS is nice, but I still can't get over the bumper and grille. I bet the Panel version will be very cool and might change my mind. The ZR1 is simply stunning.
  18. Me too!
  19. Awesome... Just hope I'm dead before I HAVE to drive an electric appliance.
  20. Beetles are cool restoration projects and they have an insane following. (Which is why the 60's models are usually expensive) I think you have a pretty good deal there as long as the '77 isn't falling apart. My mom was into Beetles pretty big back in the day and has talked about buying one to restore. I have a friend that cut one up (parts car) and built a rail buggy out of it. It seemed like such a fun project because it was very inexpensive (I think he has like $3000-$5000 in it) and the possibilities for customization were endless.
  21. I agree... Even if the diesels are offered in just a few models, it'd be worth it. I know GM thinks diesels are a hard sell, and they are right now. However, NO ONE has tried to market the advantages of diesel engines, outside of trucks, in america. If I wasn't an enthusiast, I wouldn't even know Jeep offered a diesel. VW is known for it, but not well known. My GF once asked me "Why is that Beetle making a strange noise?" and I told her it was a small diesel. She's a pretty informed car person and had no idea, so that shows you where the general public stands. If GM were to campaign diesels correctly (And be tough enough to ignore the stupid ass press and their references to GM passenger car diesels of yore) I think they'd see a pay off.
  22. Just be like me... THRIVE on being different I guess people started preferring sedans when the asians came to prominence. After all, they are the ones that took the "fun" and "interesting" factors out of cars. Now it seems that we're determined to take what little interest and personality is left out of them in the future via electricity... An electric car is no better than my washer or dryer; it's just another appliance that's devoid of character.
  23. Nah... Toyota still sells plenty of thier Camry and Prius.
  24. It's going to be tough if the GXP looks the part. Camaros are in my blood and it's definitely the cooler car. But it'll be on every street corner and the styling might become dated quickly. Adding a 3rd Camaro to my stable would be a no brainer and I'm sure I'd love every minute of it. The G8 gets merit because it is more practical, less common. But most importantly Pontiac is the division at GM that represents who I am the best. (That is, from a historical and educated perspective and not the ignorant minded drivel of the average consumer) My style *is* the WS6 Trans Am of a few years back, or the '70 GTO Judge, or the '71 Trans Am SD455 or the '68 Firebird, or the '67 GTO, etc. etc. It's great that GM is finally making my life difficult by having so many new EXCELLENT products from it's entire portfolio of divisions as opposed to one or two.
  25. I wanted to check that out.
