  1. Thus is the media in general... We get entertainment and panic as opposed to logical fact-based news. Chrysler will not survive. And as soon as it dies, the media will begin working harder on the weakest of the two remaining automakers. As a 'journalist', it is embedded from a very young age to be anti-american and especially anti-Detroit, it's not a conscious decision except on the part of the people who began this mindset and still lead it.
  2. Yep... They just need to STICK to a plan instead of wasting billions on plans that they abort half way through.
  3. I didn't see The Incredible Hulk, despite being a huge Edward Norton fan. I thought the first one looked horrible and never watched it, but I expected this one to be better since it pretty much was Marvel saying "Hey, we screwed up..." The Marvel movies just aren't that good anymore IMO. I thought Spiderman II and X-Men (My favorite marvel comic) II were excellent. But Spiderman III lacked substance and talent and X-Men III, while good, wasn't epic enough. As for Iron Man... It was well acted but, meh... The preview for The Watchman really ot my attention but I'm not sure if it'll be worth seeing. It looks 'snazzy' but the story could go wither way.
  4. I have a feeling that GM has something up it's sleeve with the new LS motors (next gen, that is) However, I also have a feeling that they'll find some way to screw it up.
  5. I fear that China is our future.... As in, they'll own most of the traditional american brands someday. Just look at us and Britain. History repeats itself.
  6. I agree 100% I actually wouldn't mind seeing the big 3 broken up and ALL of the brands given the resources and opportunity to fend for themselves. (If it comes to that) Whatever happened to AVX Cars? They used to fit F4 camaros and Trans Ams with special motor mods and Avanti style bodies. Also had the Studebaker concept a few years back that looked like an H2 that had ugly mods.
  7. I too remember when this thing was making big splashes at the major auto shows. IIRC, a lot of the interior stuff was sourced from GM.
  8. So, what exactly was this car to be? Was it the car that would slot above the CTS effectively replacing both the STS and DTS (Since the CTS is basically STS sized anyway) or was it the 7 series competitor? Maybe I'm biased, but I'm not looking forward to a Cadillac line up that's too small for me to fit in and that doesn't at least feature optional V8 powertrains (which is mistake #1... Cadillac is to be the standard, yet it can't have V8s?)
  9. I've seen "The Dark Knight" 2 times now... I was VERY reluctant to see it because of the Heath Ledger thing. Originally, I didn't think he wads the right actor for the role and then when he passed, I thought "oh no, now everyone is going to be a fan of the movie simply for that reason" I must say though... I was F-L-O-O-R-E-D... The movie is amazing. I'd give it a 10/10 any day. Ledger gives an Oscar worthy performance and sincerely deserves the award if he gets it. I didn't think anyone could LIVE a character more than Johnny Depp did in Pirates. However, Ledger proved that thought wrong. The movie doesn't even have to be a Batman movie to be a good movie, the story is that good. And the characters are so multi-dimensional that it's a drama just as much as an action. Ledger gave a perfect performance... The story of Harvey Two Face was BEAUTIFULLY done and everything all the way down to the way Batman is ALWAYS shot in the dark as a demon-esque, divided figure (during the interaction with Dent and Gordon) is sheer perfection IMO. As for Death Proof... It's not worth the plastic it's embedded in. Planet Terror (Robert Rodriguez half of that venture) was SO MUCH BETTER!
  10. enzl - For always telling me what I don't want to hear, but fear is true. balthazar - Because I admire the fact that he is a MORE EFFECTIVE "stubborn, smart ass" than I am. Camino - Because he always manages to keep the faith when I've "shot the horse before it even ran the derby" with my negativity. Satty - For always busting my balls, but then making me laugh at the very same time. NOS - Well, because everyone else apparently wants to, so why not The OC - For being one of the people that I disagree with the most, but just can't seem to really get angry at. CARBIZ - For always making too much sense. and last but not least, MYSELF for being to resistant to change to EVER be happy about anything GM does.
  11. Bet they'll treat it like a bastard child at a family reunion in a white church when they do introduce it.... I mean, nothing less for Pontiac, right?!
  12. True that.... Even the platforms GM DOES go through with aren't utilized to their full potential... Lets not even talk about what a waste Zeta is turning out to be (Despite the fact that it could be used numerous ways... STILL WHAT ABOUT EPSILON II? You know, we heard all of that about how Eps II could be "individualized" all of the way down to the angle of the tumblehome. Yet, now we hear that the next G6 will be nothing more than a rebadge of the Malibu... And to top it off, the Insignia already looks TOO similar to the Malibu and will be DOUBLED as well by the new Invicta. Unbelievable... At this rate, maybe GM should just cancel ALL of their divisions and sell under the "GM" name. And as far as the G8 'not selling'.... Well, it'd help if GM actually knew how to market the (ANY OF THEIR) effing cars.
  13. I have a REAL hard time caring about "subsidizing ethanol" when so much of our money is going to subsidize the rebuilding of a useless country embroiled in a useless war.
  14. The minute that bastard would've come at me with the knife and the head, I would've off-ed him.
  15. In order: 1) Chevrolet Corvette Z06 2) Chevrolet Camaro SS 3) Pontiac Solstice Targa GXP 4) Cadillac CTS-V (tie) 4) Pontiac G8 GXP (tie) 5) GMC Sierra Denali 6) Saturn Sky Redline
  16. Bet it wouldn't sell....
  17. And why again is Alpha not being fully leveraged (especially at Pontiac?)
  18. Yes, because the sky is falling and trucks are dead... Remember?!?!?!
  19. Did the media crucify Toyota for bringing out their line of gas pigs? Nope... So, www.notgonnahappen.com. It's not about the product, it's about the company (brand, division, model, etc.) that the media wants to eliminate.
  20. Did you say the same thing when the Ridgeline FLOPPED amid HUGE profit in the truck market? Honda is succeeding for 2 reasons 1) LUCK... They had the right redesigns at the right time and had too much BUREAUCRACY to follow the market into trucks. 2) Their NAME. Consumers connotate Honda with fuel economy EVEN OVER TOYOTA.
  21. 2 words: 1) BRAND 2) EQUITY... Why sell SPRITE under "blubberjuice" if the name SPRITE is already tattooed and established on the brains of consumers everywhere? This is ESPECIALLY true given GM's ever dwindling marketing budget
  22. All thanks to the CONSTANT media tirade that has occured for the past 6-7 years. The media knew that GM was getting off the mat and it pushed the company right bak down, except harder and dirtier this time. It's no longer acceptable to simply NOT PREFER an american car, it has become necessary to LOATHE american cars... It's incorporated into entertainment, politics and style. And it was all, for the most part, subconciuosly coordinated. (No joke)
  23. Glad to see someone with a brain is left at GM... Exactly... Bullsh*t speculation and the media frenzy that ensued has scared the consumer. True that... I'm seeing new Malibus EVERYWHERE now.
  24. I really hate it... But at the same time, I really don't want to see people homeless. The housing crisis is yet another CULTURAL problem with america. One that the government will never fix, yet we will have to pay for.
