  1. Yes, the individual cases will be interesting. VW will be giving me a very nice down payment for a non VW-Audi group vehicle.
  2. I would be well into my second well aged bourbon before that thing would start to look like something I would park next to, much less something I would actually want to own. The Fiat 500 is also much more coherent as a design than this. You may not like it, but it is a coherent design...something that I cannot say about the truck in question. More like an automotive vomit bag for when you sober up on the way home from the dealer after buying it... And that would take a whole lot more than the previously mentioned two bourbons in my previous example.
  3. And I also agree with your logic here. People are not running these at your local autocross or doing track days in them, they are picking up their kids from middle school and taking their spouse to a basketball game. All sticky tires will do on a car like this is infuriate owners when they have to replace them at 12,000 miles. People got angry with the Honda S2000, STI WRX, and Mitsu Evo for having to replace tires after 12,000 miles...what will peoples reaction be with a car like this?
  4. You forgot at least one face palm. Sport Compact car, and I think Road and track did just that. Corolla was pretty good with those tires...but still no sports sedan. Same for the Lincoln. Personally, I would be buying a Lexus IS series and calling it done with this price range. The only reason I would stop in my local Lincoln dealer with this in the showroom would be to get a free cup of coffee and shoot the bull about Ohio State Football. In all honestly the modern Acura lineup is as ugly as home made sin from the front, but the chassis on Acura's are much more nimble than pretty much anything Lincoln builds. Lincoln will never re gain its spot as an aspiration automaker, something it has not had since the Beetles all played together and we were about to take one small step for man and one giant leap for mankind. Really, honestly, cannot tell you how quick this would go in for a trade in if it were in my driveway. But then I am not really a luxury car kind of guy anyways.
  5. Ummm...no for a long laundry list of reasons. ...and I mean no to the truck, not your comment, which was far too kind and generous to the vehicle in question.
  6. My list; 1965 Pontiac GTO, Tri power 4 speed. 1981 Porsche 911 Coupe. 1986 Buick Grand National 2017 BRZ Limited with the performance package 1932 Ford Roadster, restored original and not a street rod.
  7. The Corvette is really the crown Jewel here!
  8. The Corvette would be the only one I would actually want in my driveway. The GT is too much of an exotic and not very useable day to day, not much of a luxury car guy so actually owning a CTS has zero appeal even though I like it, and I would honestly prefer to go to the dentist and get an eye tooth pulled than drive a fairly base Focus. Since we have seen the Focus, also seeing the tooth extraction in the effort to be fair; If I were forced to take the CTS I would take it to the Subaru dealer and trade it on a WRX STI immediately.
  9. My thought is drive what you like and don't worry about the damned thing. I wanted a MINI Cooper S for a long time,w as worried it was going to practically melt down and eat through the asphalt on my driveway as it burned itself down in flames when I bought it. My 2003 Cooper S has been MUCH more reliable than my fathers 2003 Highlander, they have similar miles (117,000 aprox on each) CR reliability is bull crap, Audi is rated #4 and Volkswagen is rated near the bottom, they are basically the same car in many ways. Despite my good experiences with the MINI, i would not touch a German Luxury car out of warranty if you put a gun to my head. Buick and Lincoln are both kind of dull IMHO, I could not see spending actual coin for either. Actually, I could see recommending to a friend a used Encore as they seem to have become a depreciation magnet and $ for dollar they are a very good buy on the used market. Honda is also wildly over rated for build quality, I live in central Ohio which is Honda country because of the R and D center and the plant in Marysville. While Honda is not quite Fiat, they are also deadly, deadly dull vehicles aside from the Civic SI (which still lacks a lot as an enthusiast vehicle) and they have ridden on their reputation for a good fifteen years plus.
  10. Cool....! We bought the TDI Jetta Shortly after that and we are about to turn over 46,000.
  11. I agree, although i am not a Nissan fan. As for the above cars, the only one I could actually see owning is the Mazda.
  12. Congrats, should serve you gentlemen very well!
  13. Very much so. A 1959 Buick convertible, a Datsun 240 Z, a Ferrari 250 GTO, A brand new Chevroelt SS sedan, and a 1939 Supercharged Graham. All cool in their own way.
  14. I too will Echo the WRX. Mazda three manual hatchback, will modify it with a set of aftermakret wheels, Koni adjsutables, cheap weekend autocross car and daily driver. Base Mazda Miata Base Subaru WRX Base Chevrolet 1 ton diesel pick up. In any color other than white.
  15. For a performance car, yeah...the Porsche is cool, but my money would go into the Z06 all day long.
  16. If I could afford to live there, and Canada had an immigration policy that I could be allowed in....I would come. As it is, the cost of living in Columbus Ohio is law, and the city ain't bad.
  17. I have loved 1960's Lincoln since I was a child...!
  18. This image has been resized. Click this bar to view the full image. This is why I was trying to get su to think about non traditional (not mainstream Camro/firebird/Grand national/Vette) GM tuff as part of the Carzy Uncle thread. GM made lots of really cool stuff that si just a little bit outside of the mainstream thought of car guys.
  19. I really like the 67-68 Notchback/coupe Mustang also. It's why I keep posting of my desire to own a California special in the dream garage threads.
