Overall, I kind of agree, but just find the Passat, Regal, et al to be much better cars in terms of the small details. for some reason the Maxima has never been very appealing to me, and yes, I know that's subjective, and yes, I know its a fine car.

The Lawyer attitude seems to be, it is everyone's else problem, you were just a poor victim. Now give me your life savings and your daughter and you can go back to being a Lemming. Sad State of affairs! This is a huge part of the problem, and it just feeds the ADD mindset of Americans, both personal and corporate... Admit nothing, Deny everything, and Demand absolute proof of something before you take responsibility... THAT is killing our country, folks!

They were all rust magnets in '78. Actually I think 78 or 79 GM dramatically improved their rust proofing.... Very capable vehicle, one of my best high school friends had one of those, ti was a hoot to hoon around in....

A very good response, and I really agree with you here. The photo galler is nice, but IMHO this is one of the weakest products in terms of new cars available in the US currently. Would you actually buy this over a Regal, a 300, an Accord, or such... I know I wouldn't. Nice, well worded and well written review, and thanks for the great photographs.

Some do, but I think Dfelt is right, gas then CNG then electric. I love the idea of an electric car, low end torque, from the very get go...

It is hard to seperate cars and goverment anymore so you did nothing wrong. In fact it is getting hard to no get into politices on nearly anything anymore from what you eat, drive, wear your doctor etc. For a a ntion that was born from a desire to have personal liberty, we are rapidly becoming a nation that seeks conformity and gov't control over all kinds of crazy portions of our life. I am by no means a conservative or libertarian, but I believe that personal responsibility is being undermined by both the attitude of main street/voters and the willingness of gov't to regulate and fix everything. Sorry to rant....I just want the ability to make responsible free choices as to what I think is best for my family.

That would also solve a lot of the problems for diesels as well....the current VW diesels would pick up about 15 or 20 MPG if they could use slightly less restrictive technology for pollution control. ...I wonder how a converted vehicle would work for competition use. Would be cool to auto-x/race a converted vehicle.

Naw, not the Toughest, just people are sold on a cheap ass plastic interior with rubberband and twin body on frame and a Lego Engine. Cheap to fix, so the bulk of people buy em. Actually I think Mercedes Benz, Volvo, and BMW have the longest average lasting cars on the road, but there are more old Fords on the road largely because so many ugly rusted F150's run forever... CNG is a good idea...

Screwed no matter what indeed, and I didn't mean into make it into a politics thread. However, none of the small performance cars I like (FR-S, Cooper S, Cobalt SS TC, Miata, et al) make the upcoming Cafe requirements, so I guess small car lovers and truck lovers will both be screwed, pretty much no matter what.
