How a Top Fuel Dragster works...
...and while I am not into drag racing as much as other forms...going 74 miles an hour in the first 21 feet of track sounds like a blast....

My father was a personal friend of the Kalitta family. They were planning on running a ford Taurus in NHRA pure stock, and were going to call it the Kalitta Taurus

I guess even the wealthy have trouble dealing with dealerships
Missy Elliot insists ... her brand new Lamborghini is being held captive by an Illinois car dealership -- after she paid handsomely for the luxury vehicle -- and now, she's suing to get her ride. The rapper filed the lawsuit in Florida against Fox Valley Motor Cars, claiming she entered into an agreement with the dealership last year to buy a 2012 Matte White Lambo Aventador (below, in orange) for $376,000. According to the lawsuit, Missy -- repped by Singh, Singh & Trauben -- agreed to make a down payment that included $30,000 in cash AND her 2005 Bentley (valued at $85,000). In return, Missy claims the dealership agreed to ship her the Lambo by mid 2012 ... but never did. Missy says she contacted Fox Valley for an explanation -- and was told the terms of the deal had changed because the market value of the car had risen. According to the lawsuit, Fox Valley refused to deliver the car for the agreed upon sale price -- and demanded way more money in exchange for the vehicle. But Missy says that's BS -- and now, she's suing Fox Valley for possession of her Lambo, plus damages resulting from the dealership's breach of contract. Calls to Fox Valley weren't returned. http://www.tmz.com/2012/07/10/missy-...ghini-lawsuit/

*whew!!!* *pant*pant*pant*
It would be cool to build real good replicas of a lot of old cars. I'd take an Alfa 8C as well as a Tucker.... I'll check it out also, thanks!

Why you should clean under your car
Given the lack of snow and humidity, I figure that California (and the SW USA in general) should have no issues with rust or oxidation on cars at all. It's the sun....paint oxidation is a big issue here in AZ. And clearcoat peeling. Answer to that is too just LineX the whole outside of the vehicle and then you never have to deal with paint oxidation! You also do not have to deal with door dents, rusting, etc. LineX covered SUV's rock for off trail use also. LoL... I've thought about painting the hood of my Jeep matte black....too many paint chips, cat scratches, bird poo marks, etc as it is now.. Your originally from Ohio dude...camo and a gun rack FTW.

Making a Honda go fast, made easy!
Now, just to be fair, it ain't only the imprt boys having fun. In our group of guys we have a Cobalt SS TC that routinely puts down lap times equal to a newer supercharged Shelby Mustang.... And the Sky Redline and Solstice owners routinely put down times that smoke the Miatas and S2k's...and evo's...and WRX Sti's...

Making a Honda go fast, made easy!
Come to Ohio, I can demonstrate... My friend Jim has a Miata on Street legal tires, it is a third gen car with coil overs and lowered...there is a 15 mph turn he routinely takes at 55-60 mph...and the tires don't even squeal.... With a good driver in an autocross it will outrun a mitsu evo, just because it turns so well... We have Honda engineers in the group that I race with...that have done evil things with S2k's... Come do a track day. Lots of fun...

How stupid are people where you live?
Given the number of fat people that live here, maybe you should consider it round in the middle and round on both ends. I was on the roof of a convenience store, notice a guy that must have been 600 lbs plus getting out of a Grand Am. And I do mean 600 lbs plus....I've had a neighbor and a friend both over 500, and this guy was nowhere near skinny enough to be five hundred... So I come down off the roof to check the stat inside the store and restart the unit..watch the guy at the soda fountain. He downs literally a gallon and a half of mountain Dew, and takes another three liters of mountain dew at the sales counter...and then asks for directions to Mac Donalds. Ohio is pretty much fat and stupid....this in no way is meant as a slam against guys like Hyper and 67 IMP SS that also has to suffer though living here. But one of my fav. Authors often has people moving or driving to the west coast...they never so much as stop in Ohio for more than a cup of Coffee... I think she's on to something. That's sad... having grown up in Ohio, I knew a lot of good places and people in the state...and great roads...but of my old college and grad school buddies, most don't live in Ohio anymore...most are out of state now (Cali, Chicago, Boston, DC, Fla, etc).... the good outweighs the bad, otherwise I would leave. I just have a short fuse for human stupidity, I guess. He may well have been out of his mind, indeed...

Royal Purple
I run Mobil 1 at the current time, and change it at 3000 miles...but my cars see some severe service, so I feel the extra expense is worth it.

Making a Honda go fast, made easy!
I agree.... but can it handle a freeway cloverleaf at 70+mph? A Honda S2K can do it a lot faster than 70 on sticky tires....

You have just hit on my biggest complaint about our country right here right now with this post. Everyone is entitled to every damn thing....the kid felt he was "entitled" to not have a flat, and you interrupted his 'perfect" world by pointing out reality. Americans have very little patience with reality, I am afraid....

Things you shouldn't do.....
Usually I just make money trying to repair things for idiots...they break them again, I fix them again....no argument, just profit. I like how that works...

Interactive Review: 2012 Volkswagen Passat 2.5 SE
Do you mean the back seat is large or small? Is it a DSG or an automatic...DSG, right? Fuel economy? I am assuming not good...maybe 22-23 overall? Impressions of interior quality and quality of dashboard controls? Is this a car you could see yourself buying?

Austin Healey stolen in Philadelphia found 42 years later on Ebay: in Los Angeles
http://www.philly.com/philly/news/br...All=y#comments It's not often that Philadelphia police are called to jump-start a stolen auto case. Especially one four decades old. But thanks to their efforts, a Texas man has recovered a treasured convertible stolen in Philadelphia nearly 42 years ago. Bob Russell never gave up hope that his stolen 1967 Austin Healey would be found one day. Russell was a graduate student at Temple University in 1970 when he parked the English roadster at an apartment complex after a date with his future wife. When he went out to the lot the next morning, the Austin was gone. Because he was a cash-strapped student, it was a double whammy. He had liability, but no theft insurance. Read the whole article, its a darn good story!

Things you shouldn't do.....
Not teach your children how to park, for one.... Maria Shriver has taught her daughter Katherine Schwarzenegger everything she knows ... about getting parking tickets. Arnold Schwarzenegger's estranged wife -- who is no stranger to parking infractions -- and her 22-year-old offspring drove separate SUVs to the same medical building in Brentwood this weekend, and upon leaving found matching mother/daughter parking tickets on their windshields. Maria and Katherine have started another Kennedy legacy. http://http://www.tmz.com/2012/07/09...rking-tickets/

30 million Ferrari GTO 250 wrecked this week.
You know THAT car is getting rebuilt... they need a continuation series on these cars, as its one of the coolest cars ever uilt. They would say that it would reduce the value of the originals, but I don't think so. Have the values on vintage Camaros and Mustangs gone down now that we have dynacorn bodies?
