  1. WMJ-I think I would have been walking to prom! Chris
  2. Utter filth (the ones around here are just plain nasty, esp. the one in Circleville) Chris
  3. ...and balthazar, the Pontiacs of the later 70's hold a VERY special place in my automotive soul. But remember, this is the era (late 70's, early 80's) that I started driving, grew up, started dating, went away to college, etc. I enjoy cars like a late 70's TA because I remember double dating in them... I enjoy cars like a 67 Grand Prix convertible or a 57 Olds Convertible because they are an utter work of art... Chris
  4. My point exactly. And people back then knew it also...people were doing nut and bolt restorations on the earlier stuff and trying to preserve it because they saw the slide of GM and that the good times were never coming back. I remember in about 1980 a neighbor doing a nut and bolt resto in an aluminium headed (L79 or L89?) SS396 69 Chevelle. He even bought the weatherstripping and body bushings new from GM. One of the nicest resto's I've ever seen. Car was a root beer brown, bench seat 37K original mile car owned by an old man. Neighbor also owned a real factory 427 69 Camaro, which he changed from hugger orange to black. That car was quite menacing looking with the dog sich hubcaps and the white letter wide oval tires... The early stuff generates passion, the later stuff generated sales. The W body/90's stuff enabled Toyota and co... Chris
  5. Actually C and G has become quite civil...but not needing this is probably due to the election being over and everyone being both bummed about GM and excited about the new Camaro... Chris
  6. Happy birthday guys! Chris
  7. ...you know me too well. Verdero is the best GM color ever IMHO. Eeven cooler would be a retro GTO built like the new Camaro on the same platform...also in Verdero green. Chris
  8. Ditto, although if I ever get a Camino I want a 64 or a 65. I remember ehwn these cars were cheap...back in the early 1990's when I had just gotten my Mustang fastback, I remember seeing a black big block 67 El-Camino with a red interior and a factory big block for like $4100, and it was very, very clean. I also had a chance to buy a 57 Ranchero for $6500 and a 59 El-Camino for about 4k IIRC...Ranchero was yellow and white....the 59 was black also...had a later 350 in it... Sometimes I feel so stupid for the cars I never bought... It's never too late to have a lifetime of regret for the cars you never owned, methinks. Chris
  9. ...and I wonder what he means about Muncie yard? I grew up in Muncie, Indiana and there were several yards around twenty five years ago with cool old cars. Would be cool if any of them were still around... Chris
  10. ...as for me, I am more of a GTO guy. Great site, thanks for sharing it! Liked the maroon 68-69 (think 68) GTO ragtop in his friends section that was undergoing resto, also the aqua blue Goat his sister is standing in front of. Liked the dropped 64 that lady brought from down south too... Even though the cars he sends to the crusher are junkers, it is still sad seeing the claw go through the roof of the Poncho's in the "gone forever" section. balthazar, if I get ever a chance to go out east I'll buy you a steak and enjoy your company if your willing. I forgot how beuatiful these old fullsize cars are, I remember them from when I was a kid...and rarely see them at car shows around here. Seeing a 65 Grand Prix in horrible shape was also a shame, as i saw a beuatiful black one at the Broad and High street intersection yesterday... Chris
  11. ...as far as when Gm and Pntiac really started to die, I would say in 74 with the death of the SD 455 and High-Po cars...but that's jsut me. GM really lost its design mojo after about 72 or so. The later cars are cool, but they are a shadow of their former selves. Chris
  12. What is bad is that the ST reflected what GM has always been about. While I still love them, I think they have abandoned the better part of their heritage... Chris
  13. ...and no, I don't want a new Camaro in John Deere green, either... Chris
  14. gm4life is sooo lucky to have a good GM dealer near him. Most of the ones in Columbus, Ohio just royally suck. Again, Daryl Z71, not suprised they tried to rip you off... But again, a great looking car...in the orange... Too bad you can't order it in the blue that comes on the new challenger...actually either of them. Wish you could still order a car in a custom color from the carmaker. FACT-in 1968 a customer ordered a Mustang GT Fastback from Ford, and wanted in apinted John Deere Green...and Ford did it. Be nice if companies could do that now. But thanks again for the pics gm4life... Chris
  15. I'd say the 30K figure would be closer to correct if nicely done.... Chris
  16. I've seen some old CJ's go cheap... Chris
  17. ...oh, and when you get done with that the local pick-n-pull ahd a couple really clean Shadow body shells, if you feel like another project... One was green and one was red, IIRC. Also had a light blue one but IIRC it got crushed.... Chris
  18. You may want to clean and paint the motor bay while it's empty. Sounds like you plan on keeping this car forever, and little details like a nice underhood detail are things you'll love for a long time to come. Pulling for this thing to get back on the road. What I really need is for you to briung this to one of our buckeye Miata Club autocrosses with that 3.5. We have a guy named Duke who brings a Pontiac GP GT to them, and it would bve nice to have an other midsize FWD car to give him a real run for his Money. Better yet would be you and GM4life, he could run the IMPY and we'd have two midsize/fullsize cars to run against the Pontiac... Chris
  19. Boobs and wrenches, the best of both worlds... Chris
  20. ...and it's white too, one of the best colors IMHO for that year Pontiac...Chrome on that looks GOOD! Chris
  21. It's worth whatever sexual acts you have to perform and whatever organs you ahve to sell. One of the Junkyards up here (JC radiator on Williams) had two of these before they crushed both of them...and yes they were both Pontiac Safari's... Chris
  22. Lionel Trains (boy next door to me growing up had both...both trains and GI Joe were fun...)
  23. My wife and I both have Friday off of work, we may go drive this thing. I kinda like it... Chris
  24. Cobra (yes, I have a one track mind...)
  25. I noticed the miles, this is what attracted me to the truck. I have always liked that bodystyle of chev. truck. My question is...what is fair? Chris
