  1. The TDI thing to me is really cool (and not to bash Satty's Prius) because as a whole car a TDI is just an order of magnitude better/more enjoyable to own. Even the interior...the VW interior is MUCH more logical and comfortable. For a long trip of 600 miles I think by about eleventy billion to one I'd rather have the TDI for the interior alone. Not to mention what a step up the BMW is from the VW. Personally I'd like to someday own an old benz diesel. Chris
  2. Wisconsin! (I grew up in Wisconsin and spent great times as a kid fishing.) Chris
  3. The Prius guys and the TDI guys "fight" like the Mustang guys and the Camaro guys. Two very different cars for two very differetn types of buyer. Although I've known of families with both a TDI and a Prius. But no, the Prius isn't any more popular with my local TDI VW club than it is here on C and G. Chris
  4. I think the current fad of hybrids will die back if we ever get decent diesel cars here in the US. ...although I actually like the Fusion hybrid... Chris
  5. Not a Prius basher myself, however...read my sig...clean diesel FTW...VW TDI... A diesel car just drives more like a real car. A Prius was perhaps the worst driving car I've ever driven. CHRIS
  6. I agree with Camino, Satty and Dodgefan. We need to be in space...not because we "need to be there" but as a matter of intellectual curiousity about the universe we live in. Chris
  7. That restored and towing a Formula Ford would be perfect for me... If I could drive fast worth a damn. Let me stand corrected... That towing a bass boat....hmmm... Would make a great weekend vehicle. Chris
  8. I'm probably going to get corrected on this, but didn't GM, or perhaps just Chevy, try an X type frame in 58 or something? Chris
  9. I like this way of thinking also. Thank you for your post, it was very thoughtful and gave me some positive things to think about, sir. Chris
  10. These are probably the best 4 ideas here, actually. Chris
  11. Grand Canyon
  12. In reply to the proposal in some ways it doesn't look that bad. Chris
  13. ASS! Thinking of watching females play tennis in short skirts... Chris
  14. Jesus, First Paulino, then GMC truck guy then you...plus a bunch of people here in Ohio loosing jobs. Hope things work out okay for you. Chris
  15. Odd, odd week for me. Monday I saw a bunch of Challengers on the road, including one in that B5 blue I love... Had to drive from Chilicothe to Columbus in the middle of the day to pick up an electronic board from TRANE for a rooftop A/C unit Tuesday. All kinds of two seater cars on the road...I was counting MR2's and Fiero's and came up with 17. Saw a couple of old Alfas and fiats as well. Then yesterday was my Olds day. Really nice 84ish Cutlass, an Aurora, a couple of well preserved old wagons with the fake woodgrain, and a nice 77ish Cutlass. Today I saw some nice older Chevrolet trucks, including a couple of the 1968-1972 bodystyle/ Chris
  16. That same dealer across from the Hot Spot? Chris
  17. Oh, and thanks for the pics, Camino.
  18. A friend of mine uses a seat from an old EMD F7 (GM built locomotive) as a desk chair. It is amazingly comfortable. Chris
  19. As a Miata owner, all I can say is...wow. Here is my idea of a perfect three car garage...my Miata...your S2000...and a Factory Five Cobra replica. Just tell me that in the perect fantasy world where they actually build your rendering that I can get it in some other blue color than that lame light metallic blue that Honda painted the S2k. Honda really, really should build this (lust) Chris
  20. I am having trouble letting things go as well. I really wanted to buy a new Solstice for my next new car, but that ain't gonna happen. I can't really think of what to say right now. A big part of me has been moving on emotionally from GM for a long time, even through I've been a long term owner of a dozen or so GM cars. To me, GM is bipolar. When they are good and get it right, it's great. Sometimes mind blowingly great. When they get it wrong OTOH... ...and moving on to motorcycles or knitting or baseball or something isn't an option for me I am a car guy. I know in one sense what you feel as I am feeling it also. Maybe you need to go borrow a 4th gen Firebird and beat the crap out of it on a winding Pennsylvania back road? Chris
  21. I wish Chrysler and Fiat luck! Chris
  22. WTF? Chris
  23. It would have helped. GM slowly starteed loosing their focus in with the 1973 model year lineup. It's been 36 years of decline ever since, when you think about it. Halting the decline in a big way at any one point or in a myriad of small ways all along would have saved them. Alas, for some reason it wasn't worth turning the ship around for whatever odd reason. Had they ever at any one point decided to just be GM and not tried to be everything to everybody..we'd be okay. Or, had they decided that they were a car company run by people passionate about cars...we'd be okay. Chris
